I had in mind at least two books: A Matter of Honor by Jeffrey Archer or Dark Star by Alan Furst, and, I'm sure there are others. But, let's move on to something different...A book in which a wintry landscape is significant.
(Meant in a general way - that the season being winter is key to some memorable part of the action in the book, or that the author describes a wintry landscape as a memorable setting for some part of the book.)
Night Without End by Alistair MacLean - a group of people are trying to cross the Arctic in the middle of winter - good book!A long, long book that you've read to the end.
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, (1462p)I was very young when I read it, but I liked it and read it to the end with no time!
A book about mentally impaired person, but genius in some field (something like Forrest Gamp or The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-

Technically, I guess it does, but there are lots of small islands off of England, and this is what I meant.
