Michele wrote: "Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum never fails to entertain!!!"Indeed :) within and without. We attended a closed coffin funeral a while back, they are unusual here... afterward on the way to our car husband says to me 'Grandma wouldn't have liked that' ... I nearly cracked up. Totally out-of-order but totally true :)

all I can say it is just "candy for the brain", I read them and when done completely forget about it
I finished Taken by Robert Crais. It's another great story. Jon Stone stole the show in this book. I'm currently reading Memorial Day by Vince Flynn
Just finished Broken Harbor by Tana French. I always like how her books start, but twice now have been disappointed with where they end up and how long it takes to get there. Feel she could edit out about 150 pages, and have a book that really flies.

Yes I also read Broken Harbor and agree totally with you assessment..
I think Janet Evanovich / Stephanie Plum is all about entertainment, and in those terms the early books were great. So I'll find one of the new ones for my TBR, sounds like they still deliver!

Taken was the first Crais book I'd read, and I was hooked!
I have just finished listening to Dying To Sin. Another Fry & Cooper mystery by Stephen Booth. A good read although I do get a little frustrated with the insipid Ben Cooper. Excellent narration by Graham Padden.

Just finished Pretty Little Things on my kindle. It has a lot of abbreviations in it, and also some internet and police slang, so some parts were not an easy read for me (I am German). But I enjoyed the book which got more and more thrilling towards the end. The book also conveyed the problems regarding missing children and crimes against children.

Yes it was long, but it was brilliantly done IMO...5 stars from me:)
I'm reading The Merry Wives of Maggody by Joan Hess. The Maggody series is a light, funny mystery series. If you like the Stephanie Plum books you'd probably like the Maggody series.
I finished reading The Rhetoric of Death--it was epic and historical and the poor Huguenots (my ancestors) seldom figure so prominently in a mystery. I'm half-way through Every Crooked Nanny. This is part of my on-going quest to fill to void left by Kinsey Millhone of Sue Grafton's Alphabet series. This is a pretty good contender.

I loved Dark Places! I only had a problem with the ending but Libby Day is one of my all time favorite characters. I went back to read my review of it and some how I didn't post it. Drats! I'll just have to read it again.
I tried reading Sharp Objects but couldn't get into it. I'll have to give it another shot.

I didn't like Dark Places. Couldn't finish it.
Just finished
The Black Box
by Michael Connelly.
If you have been following the Harry Bosch detective series over the years—or are just a Connelly fan—you will not be disappointed.
Having said that, my only disappointment is having to wait for the next one to come out!

I loved all three books.
The forgotten is a great follow on to Zero Day. It reintroduces John Puller and his dysfunctional military family. A good book to lose yourself in for a few hours!

I got about 60 pages to go, and I just to the motive behind the murder. Harry's actions may not be condoned by the department heads but he gets the job done.

Love it!

So true, Theresa, so true... Can't wait to hear your thoughts once you've finished those last 60 pages! A bit of advice, though...savor them while they last! ;o

I purchased his book because it was .99 for the e-reader. This series comes highly recommended?

Connellly writes a satsifing ending, not rushed, no cliff hangers, just a solid end. I savor each book because I think the end is coming for Harry
Hi everyone, just finishedThe Impeachment of Abraham LincolnIt was supposed to be a good one. highly rated on one of the blogs. I found it to be OK. It goes around in circles. There are a lot of facts included, some made up stuff. It just didn't have the intensity that I like. Now I am off to read one of my favorite Authors Michael ConnellyVoid MoonHas anyone read it? Like it?

I finished Memorial Day by Vince Flynn. It's another winner from him. I'm now reading The Burning Wire by Jeffery Deaver
I started reading So Pretty It Hurts. I haven't read a book by this author in a long time. I also have The Concrete Blonde to read. I am hoping to give Michael Connelly a second chance for some reason I just didn't like The Black Ice so I decided to skip it. The rating for Concrete Blonde seems better so hopefully I will enjoy this one.
I wasn't crazy about Black Ice either, but I had enjoyed The Black Echo (the first Harry Bosch). But lo these many years ago the first Michael Connelly I ever read was CONCRETE BLONDE and that I liked.
Just finished the third book in Temperance Brennan series, Deadly Decisions . Will probably continue with the series soon but for now I decided to read World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War . So far it is amazing though quite scary and realistic.
