Dorie (dorieann) | 464 comments I'm just starting Cut to the Quick (Julian Kestrel Mysteries, #1) by Kate Ross by Kate Ross.

message 7402: by Ethan (new)

Ethan I just finished The 500 by Matthew Quirk. This novel got a lot of pre-release hype, and is definitely worth the read. While not as good as The Firm, it was a fun and fresh legal thriller.

Now I'm changing pace and reading Amped by Daniel H. Wilson. I was really impressed with his first novel, Robopocalypse, so I'm excited to read his sophomore effort.

message 7403: by Paulette (new)

Paulette I just finished Miracle Cure by Harlan Cohen. It is one of his earlier works. I discovered Cohen a couple of months ago. I like him a lot.

Georgia | 554 comments Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! I won a free book and I just finished it. Going to the Bad by Nora McFarland.
It is a romp with TV news photographer, Lily Hawkins. Her uncle Bud is brutally attacked and she uses all
her TV station's resources and her own "guttsiness"
to solve this crime and in the mean time learns a lot
about her uncle's life.

Jossie Solheim (jossiemariesolheim) Why Don't You Come For Me?
I read this book recently and couldn't put it down and it is one of those books that makes you want to scream at times, in a good way and also makes you cry. I just couldn't get enough of it and it's a very surprising book too, full of twists and turns, just brilliant.
I am also reading my book that just got published by raven crest books because well you just have to don't you when it first gets published, especially as it is my first book to be published, it's called Insane Renothe other book I read recently was Mile 81 I love Stephen King, but I didn't find this short story quite as gripping as his longer novels. Next planned read, is Heart-Shaped BoxI believe Joe hill is Stephen kings son but that he used a false name as he didn't want to get famous of his fathers fame, which I think is amazing and good for him so very much looking forward to reading this one by him as I haven't read any of his books yet.

A.G. (rockinghorse) | 75 comments I have been searching for the Authors corner and doing a bad job of finding it. Donna said it is the place I should go to let the readers know about my books. One published last summer, the second due in the fall. WHO'S KILLING ALL THE LAWYERS and THE JUDAS LIST.Two political thrillers looking for fully seasoned readers like we have here.

message 7421: by Mary (new)

Mary Simonsen (maryts) Just finished The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey. It was first published in 1951, so the dialog is a bit stilted. But the story, did Richard III kill the Little Princes in the Tower, is really good, esp. if you like British History.

I recently obtained the first two books in this series by Slaughter. They are fairly high on Mt. TBR.

How are you enjoying the series, Ann? I really liked the two main characters. They had faults and made mistakes and yet were very likeable at the same time. I've been hoping the author will write another mystery series.

message 7435: by Ann (new)

Ann Noell (fantasyannie) I am really enjoying the series also, the mystery is good and I love the story between Nell and Will, I'm a little sad because I only have one more book till then end of the series.

Julie Perham | 12 comments Just finished Judgment Call A Brady Novel of Suspense by J.A. Jance . I really enjoyed it, probably because I love Joanna Brady AND the stories are set in the area I grew up in so they remind me of home. I'm currently slogging my way through Shadow of Night. I'm about 25% done, but I'm still not digging it. I will finish, but I'm breaking it up with Unlucky in Law by Perri O'Shaughnessy . I read the first of the Nina Reilly series years ago and kind of forgot about it so now I'm catching up.

message 7438: by TK421 (new)

TK421 (willymammoth) I recently finished Not Comin' Home to You by Lawrence Block, a fictionalized account of a pair of teenage thrill-killers inspired by the Charles Starkweather killings in 1957-1958. My review is here. There's also a giveaway of the book going on right now, but that's rather tangential. Anyway, I gave the book 4 out of 5 stars.

My book club, the Lit Chx just read Exile and I'm curious what Barbara thinks of this book. I felt it
could have been edited a little better. It does
have a timely subject, the Palestian and Israeli
never ending conflict, The War without End. One of
the great quotes in the book (paraphrase, but close)
"Since when did God become a real estate agent"!
I thought the book interesting, somewhat objective,
but a little too long.

Georgia | 554 comments I am now reading Jacqueline Winspear's third Maisie
Dobbs mystery. I really liked the first two because they are so pleasant, evoking London and solving one
or two cases. Love Maisie and in the third book Pardonable Lies (Maisie Dobbs, #3) by Jacqueline Winspear she is off to France to solve her case and Maisie remembers her time in France as a
Nurse during WWI so we get a little of French flavor as
she visits places her case is leading her to see.
