just finished and it was a real enjoyment. I read it in french when I was about ten at school and had forgotten the plot, so this time I reread it in the original language. This was juste delightful :) it's a masterpiece. Hard to beat... :-D

I just finished No Greater Sacrifice by John Stipa. I have read this book 3 times in last 2-3 years. I have enjoyed reading it everytime. Thanks John

"Small World" was ok, the premise of being able to shrink people and things was quite interesting, I just don't think the author developed it enough. She spent more time dwelling on the affairs of the big people, and the thread that was most interesting there she didn't spend enough time on . So . . . could have been better.

I am currently reading The Boy From Reactor 4 by Orest Stelmach. It is a gripping suspense novel involving Ukranian and Russian criminals chasing down $10 million of stolen money. Very tight, complex plot, a lot of pace, wonderful characterization.

It's such a great book, and a great series. Be prepared to have all the books handy. I read the first, then immediately started the second. The second got a bit boring in the middle, but as soon as I finished it, I immediately drove to the store and bought the third.

The first one is the best of the three. You'll definitely want to read the other two shortly after finishing the first to keep the story fresh in your mind.

Just finished Death at Wentwater Court and really liked it-- just ordered the next couple in the series. It was set in England in the roaring twenties, which is a time and place I find appealing anyway. The story hung together well and the characters were warmer and more sympathetic than I've typically encountered in this kind of mystery. (One flaw in this kind of mystery tends to be that the book is a cerebral exercise without the reader being able to establish any emotional contact with any but the ongoing detective character...).

Feast Day Of FoolsJust finished reading the Feast Day of Fools and was so disappointed. I understand what Burke was trying to do, an allegory of evil fought on the desert, almost scriptural, but I didn't like it at all. Good try, however. Now I going to read Lisa Black's Takeover.

Just finished Dissolution by C.J. Sansom. Great story, set in a very atmospheric location (a monastery in rural England in 1538). Reminiscent of Name of the Rose, but this novel includes lots of the political and social issues that weave into the story itself. Very enjoyable read.

Just finished Out by Natsuo Kirino. It was really great but if you cannot stomach disturbing scenes, this one is not for you. I did enjoy it anyway.

I, too, enjoy this series. I think that she captures the era pretty well. As a mystery, they come across as being fairly light. But I still like them

Currently reading, and liking a lot, Echo Park, by Michael Connelly. I am eyes deep into Robert Crais, but took a break. I dropped the Fifth Witness after the first couple of pages and confirmed my decision by reading others' reviews. But Echo Park is good Connelly, and real good Harry Bosch. I am almost finished, and looking forward to more Crais or, perhaps another look into T Jefferson Parker. Unless someone can recommend something based upon what it is obvious that I like. I welcome ALL suggestions.

I highly recommend T. Jefferson Parker. His books are excellent. Have you ever tried James W. Hall? His books are quite good as well.

Killing Floor is very good but it's written in first person which is something I had to get used to.

Just started Dark Blood by Stuart MacBride. I love his dark humour and Logan McRae is a brilliant character. I am also reading the 'in Death' books by J.D. Robb started book 4 yesterday and am really enjoying the series so far. I love the characters and their continued development through each book.

I liked Echo Park a lot - the Bosch books are interesting and hard to put down. You might try The Blue Edge Of Midnight by Jonathon King. It's part of a series that takes place deep in the Florida Everglades, so the setting is very unusual...I really like that book.
