Sally (mrsnolte) | -1 comments Jackie, if you had been in my class Mrs. Stroh probably would have just made-do with an octagon.

Lori How many of us have encountered the word tesseract since we read Wrinkle anyway? I immediately know who read and loved that book from this exchange! Did anyone read the sequels? I never knew they existed until recently, are they worth reading? I'll look it up here on GoodReads.

What a site!

Jackie "the Librarian" Ha ha ha ha hah ha... Donna, I love you!

I'm on the fourth planet circling Betelgeuse, by the way... Help me, Mrs. Which!

Sally (mrsnolte) | -1 comments I love that the "I Hate Men" thread has turned into this. If I could hug GoodReads I would.

Sally (mrsnolte) | -1 comments cross posts are a bit fantastic.

Lori Thanks Donna! I do trust your recommendation.

Jackie "the Librarian" Good stuff, Donna. I like the ones with Meg the best, the first two: Wrinkle and Wind.
Many Waters gets into some weird Biblical territory.

Amanda (randymandy) Many Waters is a bit too religious for my tastes (now), though when I read it in 9th grade I LOVED it. I think Swiftly Tilting Planet was my favorite--Meg is all grown up! (That's not a spoiler, I promise--you find out she's an adult in like the first three seconds...)

Amanda (randymandy) Oops, I forgot to read page 5 before I posted Message 87.

What I meant was, "Yeah! What they said!"

message 60: by Lori (new)

Lori Now I'm all excited.

Lori Whoa! Holy shit! And those are good too?

Jackie "the Librarian" I was very surprised at some of the content of A House Like a Lotus. They are all good, but my favorite will always be A Wrinkle in Time.

The first line is "It was a dark and stormy night"!

Amanda (randymandy) Even though we're talking about L'Engle, I'm still thinking about naked men. I just can't help myself.

I has been well over a decade, perhaps two, since I've read the Meg series. Do you all recommend that I go back and read those before I do her kids' series?

Jackie "the Librarian" I went and got a CD of Holst's The Planets because of the Austins. Aren't they always listening to classical music in that series?

My copy of Wrinkle (cover illus. by the Dillons) has a chart in the end pages that shows the overlap of the book series. The Murray-O'Keefe books are Kairos, and the Austin books are Chronos, and then on the other page is a list of the characters who are in both series. It's very helpful.

Lori Ah. Now I know why I never read any of these others. The earliest were published when I was already in high school and was busy with "adult" stuff! Altho I did read one of her books about starfish when it came out in the 60s, and liked it very much.
