Thanks."
You must have at least 50 books shelved, and hopefully thoroughly read the librarian manual before actually starting to do the work. Once you have 50 books shelved, members can apply, and I think they're generally accepted.

The librarian manual, always being edited/having additions:

Goodreads staff handpicks superlibrarians. (They can't do that much more than other librarians; I'm always curious about the extra interest.)

They get to wear fancy super-librarian T-shirts. Very cool.

If it was an automatic acceptance it would really open the floodgates to a load of dross in the quotes/trivia/quiz(especially quiz) departments.
Just be patient.

Ah, that would explain the pile of burning corpses out back.

Don't worry about it. Not everyone is accepted. Perhaps they don't need any more librarians yet.

You need to see "goodreads librarian" under your profile to have librarian status.
Still confuses me (plus odd seeing #6 top librarian with three edits and another #89 top librarian with several thousand); but someone once explained it's some sort of country statistic.
Debbie wrote: ""Top librarian" just a phrase for books added by a particular country or somethng."
Not books added; book edits, which can including adding books, or editing books the user has added, both of which can be done by non-librarians. In countries with few GR members, a user who has added many books manually and/or made many edits to books they have added can end up on the list for their country. (This can also happen to authors without librarian status, if they make many edits to their profile or books.)

I'm in the same situation.

I think that if it takes such a long time for the response or if they have granted you this job but it has some glitches, you should contact them.
Hopefully it will work out.
When a librarian request is approved, the new librarian is sent an email. No notification is sent when a request is not approved.

Librarians have no abilities as far as giveaways are concerned. None.

No, actually they responded. I applied the data to be a Goodreads Librarian then several days later they sent me an e-mail about my new status as a Librarian.

There is nothing this group can do, you will need to contact GR Support since they are the people that approve Librarian requests

Authors are seldom allowed general librarian status, but they should be able to edit their own books (up to a point) and author profile.
If you can't, you will have to contact support (at) goodreads (dot) com
