It's the third book. Virgin River (Virgin River, #1) by Robyn Carr is the first and Shelter Mountain (Virgin River, #2) by Robyn Carr is the second.

I read this in hardback recently. It was a little slow-moving at first, but I did end up enjoying it!

Good to know, I'm sure I'll stick with it. I usually enjoy most of Dean Koontz's books so I figure it might be a nice change from the dragons or vampires that seem to be the subjects of my recent reads.

message 920: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 4 comments Right now I'm reading Bel Canto. I decided to read it because I had read so many wonderful reviews about it. I'm disappointed to say that I am less than thrilled with this book. I think the author could have made this so much more exciting. It's been a bit of drab for me, but I will continue and finish it soon. I haven't read anything else by Anna Pachett, and I just hope this is just not of her best work because I've heard lots of good things about her writing.

I keep trying this book which I have started and hate to give up but pick it up every once in awhile to give it a another few pages. I was told it's a very hard book to get into and I can see that.

Hmmm ...
It's been quite awhile since I read Bel Canto, but I know that I liked it very much. As I recall it took a little while to get into, but not too long. And once it got going I was absolutely absorbed.

message 925: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) Your posts made me curious about Bel Canto, so I read the story line. LOL. It sounds like the plot they used in the movie 5th Element onboard the spaceship, with the opera singer, the terrorists, the friendships? I think I have other things to read more than this one...

This is a book that you can't pick up every once in awhile. There are too many characters in the beginning, and then some become insignificant while others become more prevalent.

message 930: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo I just checked what page I'm on and it's not that far only page 20. I guess I'm not far enough in to have it grab me.

Zone One by Colson Whitehead is a fast read. I enjoyed it very much - zombie novels aren't usually my thing, but this one was more than that. Some reviewers complained that it was thin on plot, and if it had gone on for another 100+ pages I might have agreed. But, to quote goldilocks, I found it "just right."

message 941: by Dawn (new)

Dawn I had big reservations, but I'm currently reading Children of God (The Sparrow, #2) by Mary Doria Russell . I loved The Sparrow (The Sparrow, #1) by Mary Doria Russell sooooooo much that I have been very worried that this book will disappoint me. But so far, so good.
