Here's what I have found so far:

Automatic Library Backup

I'm reading Graceling. It's a little hard to get into because of all the weird names. I feel like I'm not really absorbing it and I'm going to be quizzed on it later. ;)

message 103: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Shannen I can't believe you hadn't read that one yet. I thought you had already read it??

And as far as the Kindle, you can archive them but download them again from your account on Amazon. I'd also recommend backing them up on your own computer - just in case a digital title is no longer available for download.

message 104: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Forgot to add it's like 6 degrees of separation with us. We are all connected somehow. Kindle, favorite books, Team Gale, hatred from Team Peeta, you know, that old chestnut.

Oh! For those considering the Kindle. It does laundry, sings a lullaby at night, and tells you how pretty you are in the mornings. I've personally witnessed my Kindle helping an elderly lady cross the street. Now you tell me how can I turn my back on my Kindle??

message 105: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Peep, just FYI I think you are making up the thing about the old lady. Anyway, I told my hubby about all of your constant harrassment (yes I said harrassment) about the Kindle and he said he would divorce me if I got a Kindle because real people read books. Sorry ladies, but for the sake of my marriage, I'm sticking with the print.

message 106: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Excuse me Heidi but I think I'd know if I was an alien or a robot! And I'm neither in case you were wondering. So, a real person here reading real books on a real Kindle.

message 107: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ha! By the way - did you see my comment on your copy of Iron Thief??? I want an update please!

message 108: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I missed it somehow earlier but I just replied. I'm still not done with it. I've had a slow two weeks. I've uped my goal to 150 books. I need to finish some books if I ever want to make it there.

Was there anyone else that thought the Iron King was just okay??

message 109: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) I just finished Strange Angels and I am about to start Looking for JJ.

I am competing in a challenge that is really pushing me to read some different books than I normally would, so I am excited :)

message 110: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) Hey I only joined this group yesterday and I have started the Kindle v Paper Debate !! Not bad for a first day eh?

I actually dont own a kindle I have a netbook. The only reason I have ebooks is it is more convenient for me and alot easier than traipsing to the library which here in South Africa is not teaming with new releases. I love paper books and taking them into the bath with me, cant do that with my netbook.

But I promise to never mention it again.:-)

message 111: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Hey Emma feel free to mention it whenever the group gets a little slow. We're always looking for good things to debate - doesn't matter if it makes sense or not. In fact, I think our next debate should be which is better? Corrugated cardboard or cardstock (the good kind).

message 112: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yes Emma you had a great first day :) Welcome again. Peep - you are crazy. The next debate should be paper vs. plastic (or if you are me , reusable bags).

message 113: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Once I finish the last 20 minutes of Darkfever I am going to try to listen to the entire audiobook of Looking for Alaska by John Green on my road trip today.

message 114: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Picking up The Book Thief at the library today :)

Enjoy!! John Green's audiobooks are some of my favorites :)

message 116: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Thanks Kellee!!! Enjoy Becca :)

message 117: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) Thanks everyone for the welcome, glad to be a member of such a lively group.

message 118: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I just started The Iron King and I thought I was going crazy or could like see into the future because I could have sworn I have read this before. Now I am pretty sure that it was just part of the first chapter at the end of another book I have read (you know when they are teasing you into read another book to feed your addiction) and I am not freaking out as much.

message 119: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Jaimie I have the Iron King at home, but Peep was not super excited about it, so I have moved it to read next week. But on a good note, that moves Sloppy Firsts up to my next tbr book. Keep me updated :)

Will do. Let me know how much you loved Sloppy Firsts - and I mean that if you aren't going to say you loved it than we may have to fight like I said Peeta sucks and Kindle rocks or something.

message 121: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Oh and that goes for Looking for Alaska too. ;)

I'll probably pick that up on my next trip to the other library. It better be good, too. The only other book of his that I read was Papertowns. And I liked it but I really wanted to punch Margo in the face. Hard.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Enjoy Becca, pretty sure I'm gonna finish it today. We'll see.

Yeah, Margo is a B for sure but I still really enjoyed the book. His main characters are always kind of geeky teenage boys and I dig that because I don't read very many books from a boys pov and I like dorks. I keep meaning to pick up a copy of Looking for Alaska at the bookstore since I read a library copy and it is one that I need to be able to reread at my leisure.

message 126: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) All three of John Green's books have geeky boy main characters and I love it!! They are smart books; although, yes, his girl characters are some what idealistic, but I can always look past it because of the humor and intelligence in the books.

I've listened to all of them, and they always make me LOL.

message 127: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Fine! I'll pick it up on my next trip to that library! Sheesh guys, you know I have about 20 books here that I need to finish yesterday. If I didn't check out another book for a month I'd be ok, but of course this addiction won't let me be content with what I have. New books always coming in at the library!

My favorite part was his birthday gift from him parents and the reason his mom got it for him. That was so funny!

message 128: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Has anyone read Fang yet? I have really enjoyed the whole Maximum Ride series but I'm on a long wait list for the new book.

I'm on page 228 and I am just starting to get into it. There is kind of a theme of the fey are real because people use their imagination and all I can think of when they are talking about it is that South Park with Imagination Land or something like that. It's not bad but I am over half way through it and it hasn't really dug in with me. I don't know if that helps at all. :)

message 131: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) No Jaimie it doesn't help! It makes me not want to finish the book even more!

message 132: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ugh Jaimie. I am really concerned now.
Pam - please update us on Incarceron!!!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Finished The Book Thief tonight! The tears came, but not quite as extensively as I felt they should have. I must be heartless! Excellent book though. Thanks for the recommendation everyone.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Argh... against my better judgment I just put 2 new books on hold at the library... what was I thinking?

message 135: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Just finished the new prequel to The Babysitters Club- The Summer Before (Babysitters Club) by Ann M. Martin The Summer Before
It was so easy to jump right in with my favorite characters!!

message 136: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Brittany - I did not cry at the end of Book Thief either, but I am not much of a crier. I just loved it. And, isn't this group evil? It makes you put like 15 books on hold at the library at a time, just so you can keep up! Ugh!

message 137: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Heidi wrote: "Brittany - I did not cry at the end of Book Thief either, but I am not much of a crier. I just loved it. And, isn't this group evil? It makes you put like 15 books on hold at the library at a ti..."

Heidi, just think - it's a good thing that you guys have libraries over there. If I want to read a book that I'm interested in, I have to go out and buy it. :( But I've stopped fighting recommendations, I just keep adding stuff and hopefully I'll get around to buying/reading them. On with the book pushing!

message 138: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Gosh Heidi only 15 books on hold?

message 139: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ha Sheila! Sorry Chachic - I know we are spoiled over here in the states with our libraries. I heart libraries.

message 140: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I heart libraries too even if we don't have them here. :) I heart bookstores as well!

message 141: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Yeah Heidi i am not sure Iron King is your thing you should probably just move Incarceron to the next tbr after Sloppy Firsts. It's not bad but for all the hype about it I feel a little let down. I am just finishing it up this morning so maybe there will be some redemption still yet. If I read the next installment from this series I will borrow it from the library.

message 142: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Has anyone else read Going Too Far? I just finished it and I really liked it.

Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols

message 143: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Jaimie - thanks for the update. I guess I will do my usual and give it 100 pages - if I don't like it, it goes back to the library :)

@Heidi @BlueMoon

About 125 pages in and I don't know what to think. The pacing is steady and the concept is interesting but so far not as 'original' as I was expecting.

That said, I don't know why I was expecting 'strangeness'. And, maybe that's yet to come. So far though, there's two plot lines, one outside of Incarceron and one inside. Won't say more for fear of spoilers.

message 145: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Thanks for the update Pam. Good books are hard to come by, so I know what you mean about "not as original as you were expecting". That is what makes you really appreciate the great ones I guess.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Heidi wrote: "Brittany - I did not cry at the end of Book Thief either, but I am not much of a crier. I just loved it. And, isn't this group evil? It makes you put like 15 books on hold at the library at a ti..."

So true... Of course one of the books I put on hold was The Help, so I think I'll be waiting a while for that one. (see... I'm willing to give it a try)

As to The Book Thief, even if I am heartless and not a crier. I found myself wanting to know more. I understand why it ended as it did and how it did, but man, what I would have given to hear that conversation between Max and Leisel in the taylor shop. I know why it's not in there... but I want to know!!

Max was by far my favorite character. I think you guys will quickly learn those are the types of characters I fall in love with, the tragic, hopeless kind who expect nothing for themselves but are usually willing to sacrifice so much for others. Ex: fav Harry Potter character... Sirius Black. Don't worry though... I'm definitely Team Rudy!

message 147: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Just finished Catching Fire and The Titan's Curse today. Both good, geared toward totally different audiences. It was kind of a one-eighty for my brain finishing two so close together.

message 148: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Brittany you should listen to The Help on audiobook. It is really great.

The Book Thief <<<<<(view spoiler)

You know, I don't. I think there is a special unbreakable bond there, but I just don't see that happening. Do you think so?

message 150: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) I don't think the book actually says so but I just wondered if anyone else thought that was how things ended up.
