Ha ha!! Love that pic! Actually, we should have taken pics of ourselves at the start of Read-a-thon. I confess I did dump a stack of books on my table as I considered which ones to read! I'm still surrounded by books!

This one looks like a Seuss story so check it out and then add your verse.....

Catherine Finally able to check in, from the posts it looks like everyone is doing well and having fun!!

message 113: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Been a bit poorly so keep snoozing instead of reading but still managed a good chunk of pages. Going to try and keep going till 2.

message 114: by Tiff (new)

Tiff (utbooklady) | 65 comments I just finished Heat Stroke.

2 books down, 607 pages read, reading time total 8.5 hours.

message 115: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 93 comments 371 pp.: Finished White Lies & really liked it, so will definitely be getting the next in the Arcane Society series

Am about 400 pages into Queste, but I read 150 pp. before the readathon started, so will subtract that when I'm done.

Just finished a late lunch, so starting Born in Ice (Born In trilogy #2) now.

message 116: by Susan (new)

Susan I actually finished a book. I had started it a day before the Read-a-long started and had 104 pages read.

1 book read
269 pages of 373 total
4 hours reading

message 117: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ I miscalculated with this read-a-thon. I forgot that I get up at 5 am! So friday started at 5 am so to complete the 24 hour read-a-thon I would have had to stay up for 41 hours! Which certainly wasn't happening. Anyway, I made it til 2 am before I crashed (after completing book 1, of course).

At 9 am I had to run to the post office to mail some PBS books. So I picked up book 2 Midnight Alley at 10:10 and completed at 1:30. Feast of Fools (book 3) started at 1:30 and at 2:30 I was out for a rather long unplanned nap. Up again at 5:00 and had to fix dinner for the cats. Now I have to quickly farm my crops before they rot and then I will be back to reading.

Hope to complete book 3 and read some of book 4 before the 10 pm deadline. In the future, I have to plan better.

message 118: by Athira (new)

Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) (readingonarainyday) Lol, Barbara, that kind of sounds like my day too, yesterday!

About 4.5 hours more, everyone!!! Let's gear up for the last few hours of this read-a-thon!!

message 119: by Roseann (new)

Roseann | 185 comments Aths, sorry I didn't reply to your earlier message, but fatigue finally took its toll and I fell asleep for a few hours. The Evonovich I read is the first in a new series, so no worries. It was a cute, quick read.

I have finished one more--

DAUGHERS OF THE MOON #4-THE SECRET SCROLL by Lynned Ewing (268 pgs.)

This brings my total at 2:50pm PST to:

6 books
1,381 pgs.

message 120: by Athira (new)

Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) (readingonarainyday) You're doing great, Roseann! And thanks for the info, I guess I can read it after all.

message 121: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) | 394 comments (staggering into the discussion) FINALLY have a minute to myself to get on line and cheer you guys on. My class ran til 1 pm, then because i'd forgotten today was the son-in-law's bd, I took all the "kids" (daughter, son-in-law, the grands and the little girl who went to the class with daughter and me) out for lunch. Made it home at 3:15, just in time to get hubby up, fix him food, and then pushed out the door to head to work. He's working nights right now. Which on the 1 hand is good--more reading time for ME, is, on the other hand bad (I'm not sleeping well. Sigh, miss my "white noise" from his CPAP machine.)

but anyway, (waving pompoms) go, go, go.

message 122: by Afsana (last edited Mar 27, 2010 03:18PM) (new)

Afsana (afsanaz) Way to go all.

Have read 2, listened to one and nearly read -I alex cross by james patterson

Possibly can get a 5th in before deadline.

message 123: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cmbohn) Finally checking in. I'm reading Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell - 778 pages. I'm halfway done.

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 158 comments Keep going folks!

message 125: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Gilmore Congrats to everybody that read so much during this read-a-thon. I've really fallen off the reading wagon today. I adopted another dog, and only for my pets would I neglect a book, lol! But for the next few hours I'll do nothing but read.

message 126: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicoleman) ok, so I started The Cold Dish but just wasn't in to it...so I switched to The Blonde Geisha. Pretty good so far.

message 127: by Ramya (new)

Ramya | 3 comments Hi all,
It has been great doing the reading. I had to catch up with some sleep for 4 hrs last night as the week was hectic. I started with Middlesex and then jumped to Hukleberry Finn and completed it. Read Sherlock Holmes collection for 4 hours and just finished a Candace Bushnell. I would re-start with Middlesex that was 40% complete yesterday. But I almost think I am done with reading. Time to catch up with some food :)

message 128: by Roseann (last edited Mar 27, 2010 05:41PM) (new)

Roseann | 185 comments OK, I think this will be my final post as I am beginning to see double and I still have one little piece of MLIS homework to do before Spring Break.

My final read--
ABRAHAM LINCOLN VAMPIRE HUNTER by Seth Grahame-Smith (336 pgs)
Not for everyone, but if you were a fan of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies this is the same author. I really like it!

So my final grand total at 5:37pm PST is--

7 Books
1,717 pgs.
I didn't keep a strict clock, but I figure about 19-20 hours of reading.

Didn't quite make my personal goal of 2,000 pages, but I will be back for the next read-a-thon.

It's been loads of fun! Thank you Alths for setting this up!!

message 129: by Tiff (new)

Tiff (utbooklady) | 65 comments I read some more of The Mists of Avalon. From page 474-655. I’ve been trying to finish this book for over 2 months but it’s a very slow read.

Total 788 pages read, reading time total 12 hours.

Moving on to another more fun book now!

message 130: by Jennifer C (new)

Jennifer C I didn't do as well as I hoped. Fell asleep for most of the 24 hours and then I spent 4 hours with my 1 month nephew. :) He is definitely worth falling off the reading wagon for. SO, I just finished one book, another 1.5 hours of my audiobook and about 125 pages in the book I am currently reading. Definitely not what I wanted to accomplish but it was definitely fun. :D I will do better next time, I think next time I will do it somewhere away - like get a hotel room where there are no everyday distractions...

message 131: by Jaime (new)

Jaime When I signed up I thought I could put life on hold for 24 hours and get through a book. Well I was wrong. I have to throw in the towel early so I can finish up this weeks school work. I am reading The Host. I am on page 267 with 7.5 hours of reading.

message 132: by Susan (NY) (new)

Susan (NY) Great job everyone!

message 133: by Athira (new)

Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) (readingonarainyday) Great job everyone! We are on to the last hour of the event! I'm trying to finish as much reading as possible. LOL! Don't forget that the summary thread is also open, so that you can provide a quick summary of your day!

message 134: by Nancy H (new)

Nancy H | 561 comments Wendy wrote: "I read about 139 pages of Uglies and read for 2 hours before I passed out last night. I woke up early to get cracking again."

That book is a top favorite of my high school kids this year! We can't keep it on the shelf -- a good thing!

message 135: by Nancy H (new)

Nancy H | 561 comments I finished The Diamond of Drury Lane this morning-- after falling asleep over it in the middle of the night. Excellent book. - It was about 424 pages. I also finished Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins (sequel to Hunger Games) - 391 pages. I had to take a break today because a friend dropped by unexpectedly and brought us lunch! She is a real sweetheart so I had to visit with her before getting back to reading. ALso had to prepare lunch for 12 for tomorrow -- that's done and I'm now going back to reading. My personal goal for this event is to get at least 1000 pages read, so I am within reach unless I fall asleep too early tonight!

message 139: by Ivy (last edited Mar 28, 2010 03:23AM) (new)

Ivy (luvbug) I am way behind what I was hoping to be...my grandson fell out of a tree this morning and broke his arm...needless to say I have been in the ER most of the day...we just got home a bit ago...I have given up even trying to catch up...maybe I will have better luck next time.

I was able to read 312 pages.

Fantasy in Death by J. D. Robb 210 pages
Last Scene Alive by Charlaine 102 pages

I was hoping for more...but maybe next time.

message 140: by Valorie (new)

Valorie I finished my second book Glass Houses witch has 248 pages. I read two books with a total page count of 600! I was trying to read at least 3 books but alas, I just couldnt make it this time! message 141: by Debbie (new)

304 pages - The Bride Fair, and
97 minute audiobook - Stranded.
198 pages Midnight Angel (about half done)

571 pages / 97 minute

message 142: by Wendy (last edited Mar 27, 2010 07:02PM) (new)

Wendy (wldinnis) Well, I guess I am done. I did not get as much reading done as I wanted to, due to activities with my daughter but that is part of being a parent :)
It was a lot of fun though and I was glad I did get 1 2/3 books done. I will post my totals on the other board.

message 143: by Athira (last edited Mar 27, 2010 07:14PM) (new)

Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) (readingonarainyday)

We've finally come to the end of this 24 hour Read-a-thon! Big, Big thanks from myself and Catherine to each of you for participating in this event! We so love the response to the FIRST edition of the Read-a-thon, that we are already looking forward to organizing the next one!!

In the end, we had 49 readers sign up for the event, and 35 readers post their updates. Don't forget to post your final numbers in the summary thread, so that we can see who read the most / the longest! :-)

Thanks SO much everyone for taking part! Loads of hugs for you!! :-)

message 144: by Wendy (new)

Total books read: 3.25
Total hours read: 11.25

message 147: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (db_debber) | 137 comments Great job Aths and Chaterine, that was fun - even if I am so tired now.

message 148: by Renee (new)

Renee | 48 comments ok let me try my post again (it didn't take the first time)

I didn't get much time in as my family and friends had other plans for me today. I totally wanted to bail on my friends son's 10th b-day party but....

So, anyway here are my paltry numbers:

Total books: 1 1/2
Total pages: 305
Total hours: 10hrs 15min

Of my total hours, most was in solid 15 minute spurts between the phone, 'Mom, this' and 'Mom, that', picking one kid up and dropping another off. Hopefully next month I can pull in better numbers. I still had a great time reading with everyone though.

:-) Yea for us!!!

message 149: by Lisa S (new)

Lisa S (kasey_k_fan) Great Job everyone.
Thanks Aths and Catherine for setting this up.
Had fun, but glad it's over now. LOL

message 150: by Athira (new)

Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) (readingonarainyday) I am pretty tired as well now!! I'm glad it's over too, LOL! I can't wait to sleep and sleep long! Catch up on all that lost sleep. It feels like a very rewarding day so far. Got so much reading done. :)
