Only 6 are my actual girlfriends, the rest are their families, including one friend's mom and her best friend. And they are all friends from middle and high school (one from elementary school). One friend and her kids are coming from 2 1/2 hours away. We are very lucky to have each other and are trying to raise our kids all together since they are all pretty close in age. I love them all. I CAN'T WAIT!

I watched this and I couldn't stop laughing

Lasse, people walked out during Rue's death? They must not have read the books. (Or thought much about the concept, you know... fight to the death, one winner, lmao. It was kind of expected at some point.) I did cry though. My friend was laughing because she could hear me sniffling.

Related topic: People need to quit tumbling when Josh is in Kentucky. Last night some girl was like "Josh Hutcherson is home. He was at Krogers" which I proceed to die because well...I have no life and he's pretty. (Or because the serious dearth of boys near me). My overactive imagine can not handle it.

Everything everyone has been saying on twitter & my facebook are getting me pumped. Sounds like a good movie. Why am I waiting till Sunday again?

And I will NEVER EVER EVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRR switch teams! I'm team Peeta all the way and I loved Josh.

I'm still Peeta, and actually this just reaffirmed it for me. Josh was great!

Btw, reminds me that, on my THG website, some girl called Woody and Josh "pathetic" in their roles. o_ô

I agree. I always just pray for good actors :)

Excuse me for stating my opinion that Josh wasn't what I had in mind for a character. Didn't mean to step on anyone's toes and will be sure and keep my thoughts to myself from now on. Sorry about that. Still liked the movie a lot, so guess it is okay to say that.

I didn't say you had no right not to like Josh's appearance for Peeta. I was just saying that we should be able to overlook that detail and judge actors for what they do : act (which you barely comment on, so yeah, my brain only registered the 10 lines of rant about him not being your ideal Peeta physically which engaged me on a rant about PEOPLE, and again, not you especially, criticizing mainly the actors' looks so forgive me Your Majesty if I offended you). I had very heated reactions myself at the announce of the casting but I always thought I should wait to see the movie to have an objective opinion.
And just so you know, sweetheart, Hunter's always been my favourite Peeta too in terms of looks. Now, I shall pour myself a glass of whiskey and pray that there is ice in my freezer.

I am just now decompressing over having watched the midnight showing (a friend of mine rented out a whole theater for us so we were just die hard fans together - it was great!!!).
I need to get over my disappointment of feeling like this scene or what scene didn't make it into the movie or that they could have let some scenes go (like Peet's cake-baking camouflage) in favor of adding in other scenes (like Katniss drugging him so she can go get his medicine.)
I think it will take a few viewings before I can accept this as its own movie and not a comparison to the book.
Effie was definitely the closest performance/look to how I pictured the character.
I wanted to ask - what divided our audience most was the inclusion of scenes that we don't actually see until the second book (edited this out for spoilers - thought I had the spoiler alert on and realized I didn't - but if you've read the books and watched the movies then you know what they are.)
I personally liked seeing these (details edited out for spoilers). I would also rather see these things as they happen rather than hearing about them second hand when we move onto Catching Fire.
But half the people I watched with said it upset the narrative of the book which was supposed to be just Katniss' POV and her small, contained world and needs before moving onto a bigger POV in the other books.

I thought the District 11 thing actually added to the movie. Without it Katniss' actions would have been lessened, I think.

Interesting point about how the POV changed a bit in the movie. I actually said that to my husband, who hasn't read the books.
Back when the movie was just being made I was really nervous about how they would pull off keeping the dark desolate feel of the movie, and keep it at the PG13 rating for the target audience. The books really get into the battles and the deaths, and they definitely showed it, they just used fast camera action to tone down the brutality of it (vs. how it would have been as a rated R movie). I think that showing more of the behind the scenes with Seneca and the Capital was really smart, since some of the battle had to be toned down.

By the way, it's rather telling those who have posted such ignorant comments suffer greatly in the spelling and grammar areas.

I found Rue in the movie to be so adorable, it is a really good cast in my opinion, I honestly dont care what colour of skin any of the actors have that has nothing to do with their acting skills.

(Um, not to mention that Rue WAS black!)

Lenny wasn't who I pictured as Cinna but I ended up liking him in the movie more than I expected to.

It is really scary & sad that there are still so many stupid, ignorant people in the world. The actors who played Rue & Thresh were absolutely perfect. As was Lenny Kravitz. People like all those morons listed in the jezebel.com article make you fear for the human race.

I wonder how many people moved out of the country since Obama was elected ? Trololol.
Welcome to the 21st century, ladies and gentlemen. A world where women are equal to men, yet are still the first creature the most brutalized in the world (according to statistics, the animal comes 2nd) and where black people are finally considered human yay but oh no wait, they're still not the right color and they "ruin movies" !
*brb throwing myself out the window*

I 100% agree with you. The book is one of my top favorites, but I thought the movie could have been better.. I heard that Suzanne Collins wrote the screenplay too, so that was pretty disappointing to me. In the end, I still liked it because the book is incredible and I'm sure I'll watch it again!

Honestly it was like a grown up movie not a teen movie. AHHHHHH!!
(I might have more coherent reactions at some point but right now it's just like IMPRESSED IMPRESSED IMPRESSED)

Makes sense to me. Sometimes in a second viewing (or reading of a book) you can be less OMGOMGYOMG and observe more. Watching my dad, who had never read the books watch it and see that afterwards he was impressed (and dad's got pretty good taste) confirmed to me that I wasn't just fangirling.

It did seem to fly by. Dad warned me ahead of time that he'd probably fall asleep because he can rarely sit for that long. But every time I looked at him he was totally into the movie.
I'd see it again.
What's weird is I didn't even have snarky commentary. Even with things I love I always seem to make jokes/snark. But this movie I just cringed and teared-up at all the appropriate times.

(view spoiler)
The only thing I didn't like was (view spoiler) And if that's my only complaint, not bad for a movie!

I am not alone! It really didn't feel like 2.5 hours to me.

Cassi, you should hot-foot it up to Cincy for the Reds opening night game! Josh is throwing out the first pitch! I would imagine the game is sold out!!

When is that? And how easy is it to pounce on a celebrity? LOL You know if I ever went to something like that I'd probably be the stubborn person wearing a Kentucky t-shirt.

They don't often sell out, but with him throwing out the first pitch I bet it does! It's next Saturday night. I get e-mails from them and got one yesterday with the Josh info in it. My husband's still a Reds fan even though he's been gone from Ohio for almost 38 years!

Just chiming in. I devoured the books, but wasn't "on fire" about seeing the movie. But after hearing about all the racist comments some ignorant folk were saying (read about it in a yahoo article), you can bet I'm seeing this movie this weekend to show my support for diversity.
Let's just say I'm pretty crazy about diversity in books and movies and the arts...and in my life. :)
