Jethro (jethroclarke) | 4 comments I remember purchasing the first book to the Hunger Games trilogy a while back and instantly flipping to the first page all over again after I finished it for the first time. However, I can't say the same about the second one. I haven't read the third yet so I can't express much of my views on that but I found the second book rather disappointing compared to the first. The second book, Catching Fire seemed to rush compared to the first. I also thought the emphasis on the triangle relationship between Katniss, Peeta and Gale was distracting and made it harder for me to concentrate on the concept of the story itself. This being said, I will still give the third book a try before I come to a final conclusion on the series as a whole.

Tracy (prairiedances) | 17 comments Just finished the series not too long ago and loved it. The author captured dystopia well. But I agree with what other said above it will be a hard movie to make especially PG-13...

ETA: Peeta is ridiculously sweet.

message 803: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yay for Peeta!

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I want to kiss Peeta, not gonna lie.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Awesome. I'll give you Peeta and throw my lips in Finnick's general direction.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments YES! That's a deal!

message 807: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (prairiedances) | 17 comments I Agree! Peeta is up there on my list with Harry Potter as one of the best fictional guys.

message 808: by Gwennie (last edited Jan 19, 2011 06:31PM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) It's all about Peeta, Finnik and Cinna!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Sigh... Cinna. He could be my BFF any day of the week.

message 810: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (K5_Music_Angel) | 34 comments I know I'm not with the majority here, but I am going to have to say, Team Gale.

message 811: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (K5_Music_Angel) | 34 comments Although... I do have to admit I have a HUGE crush on Cinna. LOL.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments yay Shannon! I agree with you 100%. I all the girls around here know of my love for Cinna as well as my Team Gale status! ;)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments So people are now saying Jennifer Lawrence is in the running from Katniss (from Winters Bone). Some people are freaking out because she's blonde but I'm a FIRM believer in hairdye.

Honestly I've heard both her & Hailee Steinfield and they're both so talented that I find it reassuring. Totally cool with either girl, though the "sources" say Jennifer's audition blew them out of the water.

It helps for me that Jennifer is from Kentucky and I always root for people from my state.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments People are freaking out because she's blonde and white.

A. Hairdye
B. Katniss is technically white, if a little darker skinned. (potentially some Native American or hispanic but you know) Due to her mother & sister being blonde there aren't many other options ethnicity wise. (Though really let's be honest, natural blondes will probably be genetically extinct come post-apocalyptic world).

I want someone who can carry a film. Jennifer sounds like she could possibly pull this off. And its a BIG thing to pull off.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I haven't read or seen it :( (Going to Netflix it I believe....)

My dad said when he heard about that movie he really really wanted to see it. But it never came to our town.

I want someone who can act and is believable as a teenager. If we can make skinny people fat with make-up and men women why is this such a big stretch?

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments So I just watched the trailer on IMDB

Does anyone really think she can't pull this off:

Monica (nutz4reading) | 33 comments This is one series that I just tried reading on my friends Nook and I really enjoyed the first chapter. I plan to either buy the book or buy an E-Reader and download it at some point.

message 818: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments They're worth owning. Even in paper format, totally worth owning.

message 819: by Jaimie (last edited Mar 03, 2011 09:38AM) (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I think Jennifer Lawrence would be good and I really like the idea of Hailee Steinfield but in all honesty I don't know how well these movies are going to do. I think that either they are going to bomb like The Golden Compass because people are not going to take to kids killing kids in a visual format or they are going to dumb down and change a lot of the story and the readers will be disapointed. Some things just don't translate to the screen - I hope this will and hope it is great but it scares me a little.

message 820: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Or they'll tell the story right and the rating will be high enough that half the readers won't go see it, but it will still do well because the series was so dang popular. We shall see.

Nikki (aka Quinn) | 69 comments So I was in the hospital waiting room and started reading a copy of the New Yorker and saw this article...http://www.newyorker.com/arts/critics...
it's about dystopian young adult literature...aka my favorite category! It talks about Hunger Games, Chaos Walking... and a lot more!

message 822: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Very interesting article.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I think there was only one book mentioned in that article (current dystopian, not older dystopian) that I hadn't read. And its on my TBR list.

message 824: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jsills3) | 159 comments Just have to say Team Gale. But we know how that works out.

message 825: by Brandi (new)

Brandi Team Peeta! I'm anxiously awaiting casting news now that they are finally making decisions.

message 826: by Paula (new)

Paula Williams (daystealer) | 43 comments Saw the possible picks in EW for Petta and Gale:
Peeta: Hunter Parrish, Josh Hutherson and Lucas Till
Gale: Ben Barnes, Gaspard Ulliel and Michael Trevino
My Picks: Lucas Till and Michael Trevo (I like Ben Barnes but he's too old and I watch Trevo every week on Vampire Diaries--great acting when he gets a chance)
Which do you like?

message 827: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Lucus Till is a new one. I would be happy with either Hunter of Josh for Peeta. I know Josh isn't blond, but they can lighten his hair. I don't know any of the Gale guys.

message 828: by Brandi (new)

Brandi I really like Lucas Till for Peeta, but he looks a little young now that Jennifer Lawrence was cast at Katniss. I love Michael Trevino, he would be great as Gale.

message 829: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Michael Trevino would be a great Gale.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments i've never heard of any of those people. I'm gonna hold off and wait for the movie.

message 831: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) I'm totally Team Gale! If I were Katniss I would have picked him for sure :)

I agree, Lucas Till is a good choice for Peeta or William Moseley from Narnia. I still don't really like Jennifer Lawrence for Katniss but I will probably change my mind.

I do love Josh Hutcherson as well! And for Gale, I really don't know. If Josh Hartnett were younger I think he'd be perfect!

message 832: by Brandi (new)

Brandi Oh I love me some Josh Hartnett, sigh. I also think Taylor Kitsch is perfect for Gale (although he is getting a little old).

message 833: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) Oh my god yes Taylor Kitsch! Did you see him as Gambit in X-Men? *dies* Yeah he is a little old but he was still playing relatively close to HS age in Friday Night Lights so maybe!

message 834: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Taylor Kitsch is a hottie!

message 835: by Brandi (new)

Brandi I still haven't seen him as Gambit, but oh I love Tim Riggins from FNL. I think it could still be possible, especially since Jennifer Lawrence was cast as Katniss, she has an older look anyway.

message 836: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) Good point! I do love me some Tim Riggins! It was almost unfair how good looking he and Minka Kelly were together haha

message 837: by Brandi (new)

Brandi True. I loved Tim and Lyla together. I haven't seen the final season yet, I don't have DirecTV so I have to wait until it airs on NBC. I'm so excited/sad.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Brandi, wise choice in the Team Gale decision. I agree whole heartedly.

I still haven't heard of any of these actors... I guess I should take a trip to IMDB for a while just to check these guys out.

It starts in April I think. Can't wait!

Barf. Peeta rules Gale drools.

message 841: by Brandi (new)

Brandi Oh no there must be some confusion. I do think Taylor Kitsch is a hottie who would be great for the role of Gale, but I am Team Peeta! :)

message 843: by Kristina (new)

Kristina (kristinalawhead) I don't think Alex Pettyfer belongs anywhere near the hunger games movie, he doesn't fit any description, at least I don't think so! I will have to read whatever book this Jace character is from since everyone agrees he is the only person to fit that role haha!

TEAM GALE!!!!!!!!!!!!! He calls her Catnip, I mean come on!

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Yay Kristina~!

Brandi, I might have gotten your post confused with Kristina's... sorry!

message 845: by Brandi (new)

Brandi No worries Brittany. I just had to give some love to Peeta :)

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments I don't know how I'd like it if a guy called me the name of a plant that makes cats high.

Though I do plan to grow Catnip this spring.

message 848: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Ha, it's so great that even after all this time we're still talking about who's better (Team Peeta!).
