Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments All I'm sayin is Amazon better be on the ball with the Mockingjay pre orders. I am going to be super duper antsy for this one! Especially once people start getting it and talking about how amazing it is!!

message 553: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I know! I pre-ordered from Borders and had them send it to the store so I am hoping it will just come in with their shipment as soon as it is released!

message 554: by Katie (new)

Katie Russell | 16 comments I am someone who is still undecied on which boy she'll end up with. I don't buy books to often but I really want this series. I told my husband that I wanted this series as an anniversay present this month and he said just get from the library. So I am not to happy with him right. He doesn't get my passion for book:)

message 555: by [deleted user] (new)

I just checked Amazon and they are FINALLY offering Mockingjay for the Kindle so I pre-ordered it. I'll get it while we are camping and won't have access to Goodreads so won't have to worry about any spoilers. YAY FOR ME!

message 556: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Ahh! I will have to go on a break from good reads until I have it read. You Kindle-ers get your stinkin books so fast! :P

message 557: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I don't think I will have my Kindle by then but that is okay because I have the print version of the other two in hard cover so I will just complete my set!

message 558: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Me too Jaimie! That will be a pretty set. :)

message 559: by Milena (new)

Milena | 7 comments I'm still reading the 1st book and I'm loving it. But I have a feeling it will end tragically.

message 560: by Marlene (new)

Marlene (fuzzycerts) I'm not a huge fan of the series, but I admit I'm pretty excited for Mockingjay. I have to know how it ends!

message 561: by [deleted user] (new)

My hubby just finished reading the first two books and guess what? He is on Gale's side! WHAT?! How did that happen???? He might have to sleep on the couch tonight. ;)

message 562: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Bahahaha!! Team Gale! Woot woot!

message 563: by [deleted user] (new)

Kourtni - I knew you and Peep would love that. How is it that you and I don't see eye to eye on this one?

message 564: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments I don't know. It's weird, right? I just love Gale! Peeta doesn't do it for me.

message 565: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Shannen wrote: "My hubby just finished reading the first two books and guess what? He is on Gale's side! WHAT?! How did that happen???? He might have to sleep on the couch tonight. ;)"

Ha!

message 566: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (shyluck13) | 124 comments I'm on the second book - I'm not reading above because of spoilers until I'm done - but, I'm Team Gale, too! Peeta's cool but I think I'm for Gale, too. Peeta doesn't really do it for me, either, but maybe that's because I read Hunger Games too quickly to really capture my love for him. Still...I love Gale!

message 567: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments When I think of Peeta I picture a short pudgy blonde kid who eats too much bread. That might possibly be my problem with him.

message 568: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, when I picture Peeta, I picture William Mosely. Super cute!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Funny, I always picture Peeta as tall and lanky. He has muscles, but they're the lean kind of muscle.

message 570: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments That's how I picture Gale! But dark features, mmmm. :)

message 571: by [deleted user] (new)

Kourtni wrote: "That's how I picture Gale! But dark features, mmmm. :)"

LOL! That cracks me up! We're not as far apart as we thought. :)

message 572: by Kourtni (last edited Aug 16, 2010 02:14PM) (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments he is super cute but not how I picture Peeta at all. Isn't he supposed to be somewhat stalky? Maybe I'm wrong, it's been a while since I've read the books.

message 573: by [deleted user] (new)

Maybe but stocky doesn't mean he is short and pudgy. Now you need to re-read the series and picture William Mosely as Peeta. Then you'll be Team Peeta! Haha!

message 574: by Kourtni (last edited Aug 16, 2010 02:22PM) (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Hahahaha..I'm going to leave my "stalky" mispell up there to remind myself to stay in college. LoL! Stocky in my mind is not attractive and I jump straight to short and pudgy. I think I will use William Mosely for my Gale picturing though! So Thanks! :)

message 575: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh you!

message 576: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Tehehe >:)

message 577: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Can we morph Peeta and Gale together? That would be perfect for me, as I am more into brown hair than blond.

message 578: by [deleted user] (new)

It's all about substance, not blonde or brown. Sheesh! :P

Gale loves Katniss but he loves the rebellion more. Peeta loves Katniss. Period. :)

message 579: by Traci (new)

Traci Shannen wrote: "It's all about substance, not blonde or brown. Sheesh! :P

That is the perfect way to put that, Shannen! Oh Peeta, how I adore thee.

Also, I would just like to throw out there that Hot Topic now has Hunger Games shirts, and that I just bought two because I have no self control.

message 580: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahashari) I'm Team Peeta-how could I not be when he totally adores Katniss. But Gale has an advantage because he knows Katniss better than anyone.

message 581: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Hey Kourtni, Peeta came off as pudgy to me too, especially the second time I went back for details. And I'm not usually one to be sucked in by looks. I definitely think Gale is more of an honest character than Peeta. At least he isn't keeping secrets. Bwahahaha!

message 582: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahashari) Peeta is not pudgy. He wrestles, lifts heavy bags of flour, and throws huge rocks. He's all muscle.

message 583: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments lol, still think of him as pudgy and I doubt it will change.

message 584: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahashari) It will when the movie comes out.

message 585: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Nah, my perception of characters rarely (if ever) changes just because of a movie. And sometime the movie just reinforces my opinion.

message 586: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahashari) I couldn't agree more.

message 587: by Roshini (new)

Roshini Shannen wrote: "Oh, when I picture Peeta, I picture William Mosely. Super cute!"

My thoughts exactly Shannen. Though I'm still Team Gale. Sorry:-)

What will we have to talk about once Mockingjay is out and the debate's over?

message 588: by Yvaine08 (new)

Yvaine08 | 18 comments Only a week to go and then the most anticipated book of the year will finally be coming out! Yehey! I just can't wait anylonger.

Based on the other discussions in the group, I noticed that there are some who can get advance copies. Please please please do not spoil the suspence. Or I'd also just skip my daily Goodreads habit until I finished reading Mocking Jay.

Im team Peeta, by the way! :D

message 589: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments I'm the same way Becca, my perception can rarely be altered after I make my mind up about a character. And pudgy guys can throw big rocks if they have enough pudge on em! ;) I'm just teasing. LoL. It's not just looks for me.

I don't think Gale loves the rebellion more than Katniss! He only wants a better future for her, and a better future for them to live in together. I would risk my life and the lives of my loved ones to ensure a better life for my future generations. Peeta is too soft for me. Katniss needs a real man!! Okay I'm sorry, maybe that was a little much? lol

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Just read Hunger Games & Catching Fire yesterday (Seriously, aside from a little bit of Hunger Games I read them both yesterday).

I guess I'm suppose to pick a team. Thats the vibe this thread gives me. It would be Peeta (of course let's be honest he's the only one we really know). I think the only reason Katniss didn't fall for Peeta was because she felt forced to fake it. If nature had just been allowed to take its course I think she would have realized how great he is. Because really how many people are that unselfish? (referring to Peeta).

Exactly. :)

message 592: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ok Kourtni you better better not also love Sam from Shiver/Linger, because if you think Peeta is "not a man", and Sam is, we have some problems!

message 593: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Aug 17, 2010 07:57AM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Sam suffered from "sounding like a girl" syndrome that I tend to see a lot in books written by females that have male lead characters. I liked Shiver fine, but that small bit bothered me. Linger is still on hold at my library, so if there's another part you're referencing about Sam it's over my head.

Anyway, since that comment wasn't directed at me, I'll go back to HG.

For myself because I like happy endings, I hope she picks someone, but for the good of the series, I almost really hope she chooses to go it alone.

Since this forum is adults reading YA, we'd probably have a set of mixed reactions - everything from "good for her, she decided to put her own needs first" to "what a strong female character, such a good example for young girls". Yes, we'd probably be a bit sad that she didn't make a choice so we could see the happily ever after, but we'd probably understand it at least.

The tween crowd would probably cry in outrage and make sad faces in their forums posts, all while threatening never to read Collins again.

It would be quite amusing to see.

message 594: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Stacia I could not agree more. I hunger (pun intended) for a book with a strong female character in her teens that does not have to end up with a guy.

Cassi aka Snow White Haggard | 2261 comments Heidi I wrote: "Stacia I could not agree more. I hunger (pun intended) for a book with a strong female character in her teens that does not have to end up with a guy."

I can think of one series immediately where the girl doesn't end up with anyone (and she's a strong female teen, it's a fantasy book). I was going to type which series but realized that if you haven't read it I would ruin that part of the end.

Haha! I don't necessarily love Sam. I am just a sucker for a love story. To be honest (turn your head Shannen!) he is a bit of a pansy to me, but I still think he's sweet! I still like Peeta and I think he's sweet, I am just more attracted to Gale's character. Am I making sense at all or just rambling?

message 597: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments You make sense to me Kourtni! Yes we have a week and then this whole silly debate will be over and half of us will be dissapointed in the outcome and the other half will be gloating - that is if she doesn't kill off one or the other boys. Oh and no worries on someone getting an ARC because from what I heard Collins is not releasing any, she doesn't need to get hype built up from reviews and she is already an established writer so I guess it makes sense.

message 598: by Kourtni (new)

Kourtni (kourkyloo) | 602 comments Thanks Jaimie! I am ready for the gloating/dissapointment already!!

message 599: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa (shyluck13) | 124 comments Just finished Catching Fire. And I feel like crying my eyes out. I want Peeta back. And I know, I said I was Team Gale but...Peeta grew on me in the second and third parts of the book.

Man. I need to make up my mind.

message 600: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments nah, Alyssa, just ride it out until you read Mockingjay - then you wont have to pick a team and be right or wrong!
