i've read them all, and im not too into the whole vampire scene, but i loved them! but zoey is my least favorite character. its weird, the main character of a series is always my least favorite... :/

message 2641: by Kam (new)

Kam (iamwhowhoareyou) | 924 comments right now, im reading Divergent, Torment, Evermore, Soulstice, and Graceling.

I find it impossible to limit myself to one at a time. i have the attention span of a peanut, so i have to cycle amongst 6 or 7 books to keep me interested.

message 2642: by Yue (new)

Yue I'm finally reading something written by Tamora Pierce, Alanna: The First Adventure, I wasn't expecting it to be so short. And also Expecting to Fly, the last book of the series of Cinnamon Girl.

Kate | 8205 comments Sakura wrote: "I'm finally reading something written by Tamora Pierce, Alanna: The First Adventure, I wasn't expecting it to be so short. And also Expecting to Fly, the last book of th..."

THe First Adventure was the first book Tamora Pierce wrote and publishers have really strict page limits for YA books. Until she proved that people would buy it, there was no way she was going over the quota, and the limit has improved in recent years, thanks to books like the Harry Potter series. So YA books written by first time authors a while ago will usually seem short.

message 2646: by Kam (new)

Kam (iamwhowhoareyou) | 924 comments Really??? i noticed that, but never knew why.

message 2647: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Yeah, Tamora Pierce was originally going to publish the whole Song of the Lioness Quartet as one adult book. She realized it would be better as YA, so she was going to publish it like that, and they made her break it up. The reason her newer books are so much longer is that thanks to JK Rowling, limits on YA books are not as short. Which is why she has a sequence and a trilogy now in addition to all her quartets.
I read it somewhere on her website.
But its true as a general rule for most authors too.

message 2648: by Kam (new)
