Mayze Leviathan is great! The series is fantastic.

message 2502: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Ard (lisaa) | 13 comments The Familiars - I listened to the two authors at a recent book fair here in Portland, Oregon and they were so funny. The book is really good - lots of adventure, magic, mystery...best for upper middle grade.

Kate | 8205 comments Way-chan (Aspiring Author) wrote: "I'm still reading Leviathon. I'm really enjoying it so far! I just hope that Scott Westerfeld isn't a jerk like he was in Uglies."

How was he a jerk in Uglies? (not disagreeing, I'm jsut curious)

Anna wrote: "I heard that they're making a movie version with Emma Watson :)"

Really? That's weird, because half the point of the book was that he was writing letters. (although part of my problem with the book is that it wasn't letters. It was a first person POV with dear friend at the beginning and from Charlie at the end. You don't say you changed someone's name, and then explain the story behind Patrick's nickname. Clearly, Nothing can not be replaced with anything else)

message 2514: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid SPOILER ALERT:

He killed a major character. And in the end of every single book, he was mean and made everything go wrong. I stopped caring about the characters because I knew he would do something cruel.

message 2515: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Oh, yeah. That.....I predicted how every book would end from the very first page, because they all followed that formula.

But Leviathan is really different, and in my opinion, better.

message 2516: by Tabi (new)

message 2517: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Really? That makes me happy! I'd love it if Scott Westerfeld makes an amazing book.
His writing is masterful, indeed, he's just cruel sometimes.

Mayze He is much nicer in Leviathan :) That's all I can say without spoilers.

That's true. Divergent should be on everybody's currently reading lists. (Unless you're already finished.) And then you should be commenting here.

M.J. Webb (mjwebb) Cardsharp: A Vincent Ward Adventure

About half way through and thoroughly enjoying it. It's like a comic book crime caper set in the artworld.

Excitement, adventure and twists and turns.

;-)

Lucky. I have to wait until it comes in for me at the library, and then until I actually have time to read it.

I just read 11/22/63 by Stephen King, and I'm now reading The Ogre of Oglefort by Eva Ibbotson. I love her books so much.

How was 11/22/63 Kate?

message 2542: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments It was good. I thought the ending felt like it was just tacked on, but overall I really like it.

And Sakura, Artemis Fowl starts off slow, but it gets good quick. I really like those books, especially the first.

message 2543: by Yue (new)

Yue Ok Kate, I'm gonna try it harder hehe, it just that I was looking for an awesome saga (I'm still looking for my next HP...)

message 2544: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Yeah, I wouldn't go that far, but they're very good. If you can, go in expecting very little from it, so that you won't be disappointed. (I know that's really hard to do) Even the best books can be ruined if you expect too much from them.

message 2545: by Ingrid (new)

Ingrid Really? I couldn't get into Artemis Fowl. I don't know why.
