Same here.

(Yes, Rae, I know. Don't. even. say. it.)

I used to be all set up in my studies to essentially be a Jane Austen scholar, but that changed when I added a Psych major.

message 1203: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments What about double majoring? Or analyzing the psychology in Jane Austen. (Not really. Not sure how well that would work)

message 1204: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Well, I won't say it, but I'm thinking it. :)

Lolz. nicee, Kate.
btw, has your school officially registered for the Nat. History Bowl? Cause we have. ;)

I already am double majoring (English Literature [concentration: Brit Lit] & Psychology) and have done a couple of papers that have been focused on psychoanalysing different characters from Austen's work. :) I still have to take classes where Austen is mentioned, if not the featured author; but my end goal is different.

message 1206: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Well, it's better than nothing, I guess, when it comes to Austen. The majors sound really good though.

I don't know. I really hope so! But I don't think we have yet. Of course, knowing my teacher, we will sign up, we will just do it at the last possible moment. We have signed up for MACCs/WACKOs after the deadline multiple times, I believe.

message 1207: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Cool. You can go Here: http://www.hsquizbowl.org/forums/view... to find out. Further down on the page it has a list of the schools that have registered and then a little ways after that the schools that will likely register.

message 1208: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Well, we're on the list of possible registerers, for JV and Varsity. I hope we become official registerers, but then, only five schools have.

message 1209: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah. I go to one of the WV schools. :)

message 1210: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I assumed as much. I noticed that out of the five that have registered, three are from WV.

message 1211: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I know. It's great, isn't it? ahahah. If you think about past convos, then you'll be able to figure out which one of them I go to.

message 1212: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Yeah, I think I did figure it out (and then promptly forgot the name when I closed the website)

message 1213: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Lolz. okay. And I figured out which one you go to also. :)

message 1214: by Kate (last edited Mar 01, 2011 06:27PM) (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Really? That's a harder thing to do. There are a lot more pending responses than actual ones.

message 1215: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Oh......I realized I've mentioned the school's namesake multiple times. Wow, I'm dumb.

♫♫☺Allie☺♫♫ (alliwicious) | 1115 comments I'm going to start A Great and Terrible Beauty soonish.

message 1218: by [deleted user] (new)

Reading Burn right now.
Not the best Ted Dekker novel out there. To me it doesn't seem to have an engaging plot... I'd give it four stars, still.

message 1219: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Kate wrote: "Oh......I realized I've mentioned the school's namesake multiple times. Wow, I'm dumb."

Well I didn't remember that, but your school is the only NY one that's in both JV and Varsity.

Allie: I couldn't really get into it, but that's just me.

message 1220: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Is it? I didn't notice although it makes sense, given that the nearby schools' JV teams would have been beaten out by our two, and then most teams would end up winning one or the other.

message 1221: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Hahah, yeah. I looked into it cause i was curious. :)

message 1222: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Impressive detective work, Watson. Or maybe I should say Gnomey. I like the new nickname, by the way.

message 1223: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Thanks. Scout in the group artemis's hunters started calling me it since i first put Gnome in my name. so i just decided to put it in this time around

message 1224: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I like it. (wow that sounds repetitive) a nickname for a nickname.

message 1225: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Ahaha, I knoww, but I like it. lolz.

message 1226: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments It sounds cool. I'm not sure exactly what makes it so good, but.....yeah. You get the point.

message 1227: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Yeah. It's just....itself. :)

message 1228: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments There you go....great description!

message 1229: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments It's the best one i have.

message 1230: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments It works, so why not?

message 1231: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Exactly!

message 1232: by [deleted user] (new)

Currently reading: Twilight by Erin Hunter

And I'm highlighting more DSM-IV-TR information for my case study. (due in 9 days for board review... nervous much.)

message 1233: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Good luck!

message 1234: by natalie (new)

natalie | 5047 comments *repeats Kate*

message 1235: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks, loves. This class is super important for my current degree and future degree choices, so I'm really hoping I ace this case study and review.

message 1236: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Oh, best of luck!

I've just started Jane Eyre for class...

message 1237: by [deleted user] (new)

Oooh, Jane Eyre! Haven't had to read that in ages. :) Happy reading, Taylor.

message 1238: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Thanks, it's my first time reading it even though I've owned a copy since I was 9 (I'm 17. Haha).

message 1239: by [deleted user] (new)

I've had that happen to me with some of the books I own, too. It'll also happen where I'll buy them, forget that I own them, check them out from work, and then realise oh, I've owned a copy for years now. XD

message 1240: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Haha! The same thing happened when I read Pride and Prejudice! But when reading it for a class it's just easier to use the edition the teacher gives (unless by some bizarre chance they're the same edition, which has never happened to me) in case the teacher says, "On page 159, something happens to someone." And you'd be looking at your copy going, "Page 159? That SO does not happen on page 159."

message 1241: by [deleted user] (new)

That's why I've been annoyed with a couple of my profs recently. The edition of the textbook wasn't specified, so I would end up with the wrong edition. :/ V. annoying.

message 1242: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Oh, that would drive me crazy... That'd make me annoyed with my professors too!

message 1243: by [deleted user] (new)

My ENGL205 - Intro to Mythology was really bad about it. I grabbed the edition of the textbook the school had, but she meant (and by meant, I mean we were supposed to be psychic) the edition after that. It made a HUGE difference, since most of the work she assigned was not in the textbook the school offered! Dx But I got a 4.0 in that class, so I cannot complain.

message 1244: by Taylor (new)

Taylor (taylorjaylene) | 4557 comments Oh that's terrible... Good job on the 4.0 though, I suppose that sort of makes up for the irritating lack of the correct book.

message 1246: by Cassie (new)

Cassie (cassiemyork) Right now I'm reading Graceling by Kristin Cashore! It's really, really good!! I'm almost done with it, though. Next I'm reading Vampire Academy! (:

message 1247: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is really good, Jess. I'd hurry with the other book. ;)

message 1248: by Baxter (new)

Baxter (julietrocksmysocks) | 383 comments I'm reading Childhood's End by Arthur C Clarke. So far I am uber digging it. Currently it's an examination of religion and spiritual belief set to the backdrop of aliens bringing peace to earth. But Clarke is a bro, so he never goes crazy with the philosophy, instead sneaking it in during awesome...other stuff.

message 1250: by Allyssa (new)

Allyssa | 67 comments I ust finished readin Catching Fire and Zombie Survival Guide...........Catching fire was really good! The Zombie Survival guide was awesome cause I LOVE zombies...
