Zeljka (ztook) | 57 comments Hi, I think Randall Garrett
http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...
and Randall Gordon Garrett
http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...
is actually Randall Philip Garrett
http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...
but as I am not really sure is there really one Randall Garrett as an author, and as R.P.Randall liked to use the pseudonyms too, as
Mark Phillips and Robert Randall and Darrel T. Langart, I would rather like that somebody familiar with all those names and authors (if it is case that there are really different authors with the same name) combine editions found in those profiles, or profiles altogether. It's awful lot of careful work, and I wouldn't like to mess with them.
Thank you in advance!

Lauh - Random Utopias (randomutopias) | 24 comments Karl Popper wrote this book: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/61... but as you can see, there is "Popper Karl" as an author too.
I think it's a mistake... But could someone enlighten me? Thank you.

Definitely Karl Popper. Some listings will put "Popper, Karl" which causes the computer confusion. I merged Popper Karl out of existence.

Lauh - Random Utopias (randomutopias) | 24 comments Okay, thank you :)

Got Leroy

"Maddy" writes a zine called "Tight Pants". That is the only name I could find for the author.

Wikipedia has a useful article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Randall_...
I'm not inclined to touch this, not being used to doing links between pseudonyms etc.

Down to 2 authors who use just this name & I don't know how to differentiate them.

Next day edit: Got at least part of it myself; it's gone today anyway.

message 1013: by Sandra (new)

Sandra | 31391 comments If there are two authors that use the same single name, then there isn't anything you can do to differentiate them.

message 1015: by Sandra (new)

Sandra | 31391 comments Got one of the Christines. I think the one that is left is a single name author.

Abcdarian | 26579 comments Got Latin... or at least the last of it.

Christopher is another example of a single name needing differentiation in a big way. Ah well.

Mary Travers (readingal) | 5 comments I'm a writer. "Litany" or"Litany, A Novel" by Mary Travers ISBN 9780983145806 which is the paperback isbn; and an ebook, which may or may not have an isbn indicated (Amazon uses their own ASIN, Barnes and Noble uses their own ASIN--it's how they get paid).
Two problems:
1) The cover is not showing in either; 2) can't link the two together.

1) I have a Jpeg of the cover I can send you. 2) I tried to link them, but had no luck. Can someone help?

Abcdarian | 26579 comments Appears to be several authors named Richard Morris if anyone wants to differentiate:

Just wondering: should we have a separate Differentiation Needed thread?

We can.

message 1035: by Abcdarian (new)

Abcdarian | 26579 comments S. is gone; Ellie publishes as Ellie; Sam is another that should be disambiguated but can't be. I tried to use SAM, which is what one of the authors uses, but apparently that's just the same as Sam to the program, so nothing to do apparently.

Those are recurring issues that are in the Sisyphus list (now updated); but people keep deleting/merging them, which makes it harder to find them the next time they repopulate with new books.

To all: Please DON'T delete/merge those three when fixing their books!

message 1041: by Abcdarian (new)

Abcdarian | 26579 comments Thanks rivka; I hadn't checked the Sisyphus list in a long time & almost forgot about it.
