by Laura Lee Guhrke
Really liked it. About a woman, Emma, who has lived by the rules and it's gotten her nowhere - no husband, no book published, no happiness. After her boss (who is a confirmed bachelor) tells her for the umpteenth time her latest book submission won't fly (and she realizes he hasn't even read it), she's had enough. That's when things get interesting and apparently so does Emma....*chuckle* Oh, did I mention honey is involved? Sadly, no peanut butter. LOL

84)Don't Tempt Me by Loretta Chase
About a young women who at the age of 12 was kidnapped and held in a harem. She escapes and the book picks up with her attempt to reenter her family's life and society. I'm rating it a 4 out of 5.
85)Simply Unforgettable (Simply, #1) by Mary Balogh
I liked it. About a women with a past we don't fully learn of until later in the book. At the age of 23 she's resigned herself to living the life of a school teacher despite her huge singing talent. She meets a handsome Viscount whom she ends up stranded at an inn in the midst of a snow storm and ... I'm giving it a 3 out 5.
85)Simply Unforgettable (Simply, #1) by Mary Balogh
This is the first of four stories about school teachers from Bath who all work at Miss Martin's School for Girls. This book is about Miss Frances Allard and Lucius Marshall. On the way home from Christmas break Frances finds herself stranded with Lucius at an Inn during a heavy snowfall. At first she doesn't like the man, but slowly as their stay progresses they begin getting along and a relationship developes.
86)Simply Love (Simply, #2)by Mary Balogh
I loved this one. About Anne and Sydnam. The two both have pasts and issues to get over. She is the mother of an illegitimate son. He was disfigured during the war. The two meet via mutual friends who think the two will be well suited.
87)Call of the Moon by Ronda Thompson
This is probably my least favorite of Thompson's books. About Tala and Jason. He is looking to find the werewolf who made him what he is. In the process he finds Tala, an native american indian whose job is to destroy the evil werewolves. When Jason saves her she decides to see if she can save him.
88)Simply Magic(Simply, #2) by Mary Balogh
This was not my favorite book by Balogh. This series sort of paints these poor school teachers as being lacking in morals. The first slept with the guy during her two day stay with him during a snow storm. The second during the last day of a month stay in the country, and now this one after a week. I don't know what to think. It starting to seem like the same story rewritten over three different ways. This teacher does it out in the open where anyone could possibly wonder upon them.
89)Promises Reveal (Promises, #4) by Sarah McCarty
This story had such a funny beginning that I decided to read it. About a woman who paints a picture of the town's reverand without any clothes on. It's not the most um, er proportional of depictions, but good enough to induce a shot gun wedding between the said painter and reverand. Again caution readers about the author who likes "back door" romps and spankings a little too much for my tastes. Will not rush out to buy any of her books but if the library has them I'll probably read them.

Okay, I must clarify what I said in the previous review for Simply Magic. The teacher was on an estate away from the children, slightly secluded, but there were plenty of other individuals around who could have walked in on the outdoor "scene". Plus, it was her first time. Also, these are historical novels and I just don't see educated women of the time thinking nothing of jumping in the sack with no thought of birth control or consequences. The one was a mom who had been raped prior (reason she was presently a mom). She knew what could happen even if it was the first time from experience. Considering the time period and the way women were treated I just can't see them taking an affair lightly. Maybe one, but all three? So my definition of loose morals for the historical is much different then my definition for loose morals of a contemporary novel. Does that make sense?

This book didn't have as much action as most of the other books, but had a major cliffhanger right at the end. This seems to be a new trend in books that I am not loving.
91)Dancing with Clara (Sullivan, #2)by Mary Balogh
I liked it, but I've got mixed feelings about it. About Clara who is confined to a wheelchair. She is approached by a handsome young rake who is looking to find a rich wife to keep him from debtor's prison. She decides at 26 she's never to make a love match and might as well marry a handsome man and decides to accept his offer. Parts of the story are sweet, but the main male character just doesn't cut it for me in this novel since whenever he gets upset with his new wife he rushes off to whore houses and gambling clubs. Call me crazy, but it kind of knocks the romance down a notch or two.

Lisa, do you know how to use the 'edit post' function? When you want to change something in your review you can edit it in the actual post if you want to, rather than having to repost as a new post..

About a woman who met her husband 6 years prior at a masquerade party. When the marriage seems to be lacking her sister convinces her to don the mask she once used to gain her husband's interest. Kind of cute, but he did think he was cheating on his wife so I'm not sure of my feelings on this one.
93)A Chance Encounter (Mainwaring, #1) by Mary Balogh
Loved this one. Very fun read. I don't want to give too much away because it would ruin the story. Elizabeth and Robert have a past. They have not seen each other in 6 years. Elizabeth's heart was broken by him and she has spent the last 6 years trying to hide and avoid society. She took up a position as a governess/lady's companion 6 years ago. Now by a quirk of fate Robert has entered her life again and created havoc once more. Really good story.
94)Under The Mistletoe by Mary Balogh
Not bad. 5 different stories all taking place during Christmas. At least 3 dealt with couples falling in love after they were married. So much for "First comes love"...*chuckle*
95)Silver Borne (Mercedes Thompson, #5)by Patricia Briggs
I love Briggs' stories and this was no exception. Dealt with issues of Mercy joining the pack and having to deal with her being different and not being totally accepted. You got a better sense of Adam and Mercy's relationship. Dealt with Sam and his discontent for his life. I think Mercy's relationship with Adam kind of sent him over the edge. Also, had the issue of the Silver Borne which brought Mercy into trouble with a Fae being. Very fun read and kept my nose in the book until I finished. How long do I need to wait until her next book?
96)Lord Perfect (Carsington Brothers, #3) by Loretta Chase
Favorite novel by Loretta Chase I've read so far. Such a fun read. Loved it. About a women, Bathsheba, who is considered a social pariah (due to her family background) by the ton and her relationship with Benedict aka Lord Perfect.

Still loving this story. Very fun read. Was hoping for more fire studying to go on, but otherwise still loved it. Bat was a little different and I thought it was something entirely different than what it was so Snyder got me there.
98)Deep Kiss of Winter (Includes: Immortals After Dark, #8; Alien Huntress, #5)
Okay I really do love Kresley Cole's stories. They always put me in a good mood. I think I may need to read Showalter's Alien Huntress series, but must admit I was laughing through a lot of the story. Anyway this book had me wondering why I have a problem with some authors using certain words and having certain um ,er, "handfull" situations while not with others and I am totally clueless.
99)Always by Lynsay Sands
About Rosamunde, King Henry's illegitimate daughter, and Aric. The King feels his life is in jeopardy and forces his daughter and Aric to wed. He wants to make sure his daughter is safe with a husband he trusts in case his fears are realized. So a girl who would have become a nun is suddenly forced to be a wife. Kind of funny, but not my favorite of Sands' historicals.
100)The Billionaire Next Door(The O'Banyon Brothers) by Jessica Bird AKA J R Ward
Okay first, I must say the name Butch O'Neil is used in this book and so I had to search and make sure that was Butch from the BDB series full name and it is. So I was tickled that the name first appeared in this book. Not a main character, but doesn't matter. Secondly, not as steamy as a BDB book. Makes me wonder why? Also, this was supposed to be part of a trilogy so was sad to find out the other two weren't written. Then realized this book came out after her first BDB did so I am total happy she concentrated on the BDB books instead of more Sillouette books. About Lizzie, a nurse, and Sean, a Wall Street financier who fall for each other after Sean's father dies. I thought it was okay. Gave it a 3 out of 5 stars.
Oh, I don't know if I mentioned this but the previous 2 books of Wards that I read had a picture of her without her glasses on.

Liked it had several romances going on with a cute ending. About an American Heiress out to avenge her friend by attempting to break the heart of the man who broke her friend's heart.
102)A Man In A Million by Jessica Bird AKA JR Ward
So this is definitely my favorite non-BDB book by Ward thus far. The guy has a troubled past, sports some manly tattoos, and the book is definitely worth reading. Gave it a 5 out of 5.
103)Come the Spring (Rose, #5) by Julie Garwood
This must have been the book Garwood wrote before she started her contemporary murder mystery books. It was good, but I'm not particularly into knowing some of the deranged thoughts of the killers. I gave it a 4 out of 5 because I liked all but the villain's thoughts.

About a woman who is being persued by the Bow-Street runners for murdering her cousin. She runs to London to escape and when her aunt is not home looks for employment. Gave it 5 out of 5 stars.
105)No Man's Mistress (Dudley, #2) by Mary Balogh
About a women who was told she would inherit the house and land she is living in by the Earl who owned it. When a tall, dark stranger rides into town claiming he won the house and land in a card game. Neither one believes their claim is incorrect and both end up residing in the house until the matter can be sorted out. Gave it a 5 out of 5.
106)A Summer to Remember by Mary Balogh
This started out a little boring, but got more enjoyable as the story went on. Lauren Edgewater was left at the alter just over a year ago. Kit, due to family obligations, is about to be forced to be married to someone he doesn't want to marry. He decides if he must marry he will choose his perspective bride. Being an unconventional and even shocking type of man he decides to pick someone his father can't deny is suitable. A wager with friends leads him to attempt to get Lauren to marry him with in the month. The two are as opposite as day and night, but even day and night come together at dusk and dawn creating some of the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Gave it 4 out of 5.

(^Just made this face after seeing your 'read' log)
I know this was a while back, but the first book, Promises Linger, in Sarah McCarty's Promise series were pretty good. (It's my favorite.) I haven't read Promises Reveal yet, but the priest always intrigued me whenever he was mentioned in the other books.

Loved this one. Very fun. About a female making it in a man's world in the 1800's as a reporter. She uses disguises and her uncanny ability to imitate voices and mannerisms to act like a man to get her stories. Meanwhile, she has just landed on the radar of an arrogant rake who doesn't think much of females. This is one of my favorites from Chase thus far. Not as dark as some of her other books.
108)Jewels of the Sun (Gallaghers of Ardmore / Irish trilogy #1) by Nora Roberts
109)Tears of the Moon (Gallaghers of Ardmore / Irish trilogy #2) by Nora Roberts
110)A Precious Jewel (Dark Angel, #6) by Mary Balogh
Very cute trilogy involving 3 couples each needing to fall in love in order to break a 300 year old spell so a faery prince and his love may finally get there happily ever after. I'd give it a 3 out of 5.
111)The Eyre Affair (Thursday Next, #1) by Jasper Fforde
I absolutely loved this book and I don't know why. It was crazy, fun, and very unpredictable at times. Lots of characters and events going on and it just made me laugh. The Jane Eyre tie in was fun. If thinking of reading this book you must read Jane Eyre first. Hades, the bad guy (don't you just love the name), is out to sabotage classic literary works if his demands are not met. He has already stolen a original copy of Dicken's work Martin Chuzzlewit. Thursday Next is out to stop him. She is a female who excels at everything, but hardly ever given the recognitions she deserves. Called in to help with Hades because she knows what the fiend looks like. All though she describes herself as plain looking she seems to have men falling for her at every turn.

***SEMI SPOILERS***
I would define this book as a naughtier version of a Kleypas novel. The main character falls in love with her boss. She finds out he frequents a brothel. When she realizes he won't act on the attraction between the two she decides to take matters into her own hands. You see the brothel also caters to ladies of the ton and they can choose their partner. She calls in a favor and well, you can guess what she does. I didn't know about the last part until I was well into the novel. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars. I did not find the brothel scenes all that romantic and if they weren't included or, better yet, changed to be less impersonal and maybe not in a brothel(?) I'd have given the book a 5. I don't know somehow the way he treated her in the brothel scenes just made it somehow less.
113)Miss Wonderful (Carsington Brothers, #1) by Loretta Chase
This books was somewhat boring and predictable. About an heiress who is 31. She meets the 3rd son of an Earl. The two are on different sides of the issue of building a canal that would go through the heiress' land. There were a few good moments, but not my favorite Chase novel. I gave it a 3 out of 5.

Loved it! Sands is definitely in my top 5 romance authors. About two people who have complained one too many times to the King about each other and wind up being ordered by the King to marry. So Helen, Lady "Tyrant" of Tiernay, sets out to make Hethe, Lord "hammer" of Holden, not want her as a wife and refuse the King's order. The ways she attempts to discourage him is very funny.
115)The Reluctant Reformer
by Lynsay Sands
Another fun book by Sands. About a woman who is a reporter who does somewhat scandalous/revealing stories. She is kidnapped while investigating and interviewing woman at a local brothel. Her kidnappers have mistaken her for the infamous Madame X, a prostitute thought to be a Lady of the Ton. Her kidnapper is determined to reform her. Very fun read.
116)Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry Trilogy, #1)
by Simone Elkeles
WOW! Loved this one. The relationship which developes between Alex and Brittany is great. The verbal banter is cute and smart.
117)Heist Society by Ally Carter
Very fun read. About a girl whose family are a bunch of con artist and art thieves. Trying to get out of the family business she enrolls in a school only to find herself framed by family members who want her back in the family business. Very cute and entertaining. Loved it.
118)Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #8) by J.R. Ward
Loved it! For those of you who don't know the Black Dagger Brotherhood, it is a paranormal vampire series with a lot of romance to boot. Love the characters Ward brings to life within the pages of her books. Ward likes to tackle the hard subjects whether it be rape, torture, discrimination, etc. But for the most part everything ends good and those with troubled pasts don't mysteriously overcome their problems within 2 seconds. She lets the issues permeate through later books which I have to respect of any author because in real life serious issues are not resolved in a short period of time they have a tendency to linger.

Very cute. About Daphne who secretly studies languages and is attempting to decipher hieroglyphics. Her brother has been kidnapped because of a papyrus scroll which may have information on a lost tomb or treasure. They kidnappers don't realize her brother holds no real talent for languages or hieroglyphics because he's been taking credit for his sister's work. She hires Rupert to help her find her brother before it is too late.
120)The Lion's Lady (Crown's Spies, #1) by Julie Garwood
Very fun read. About Christina Bennett who was raised by the Dakota Indians. While pregnant her mother, Jessica, fled her father when she learned just how cruel he was. Before her mother died she traveled to America and had her daughter. While traveling with a wagon train Christina's father finds her and her mother. When Jessica escapes she saves a young Indian woman, Merry, and her son from another abusive man and the two make a pack to take care of the other's child and get them to safety if something happens to the other. Jessica died shortly after the pack was made and per Jessica's request Christina is raised by Merry as her own daughter. Christina is taught the English language, but also is trained to be a warrior so she can face her father without fear. When she comes of age Christina is returned to her real family in England and that is where the fun begins. Love Garwood's stories.
121)Not Quite A Lady (Carsington Brothers, #4)
by Loretta Chase
A fun story. About Lady Charlotte who has a secret past. She had an affair at the tender age of 16 that resulted in her having a baby. She managed to hide the birth and the child was whisked away with only her a few trusted individual in the household knowing. She has successfully managed to avoid marriage, to keep her secret, with nobody being the wiser for 10 years. Her luck and her secret has just run out..... Loved the story.

I liked it, but I found it hard to believe the people who rescued a confessed spy from Napoleon's prison would be safe if they stayed in France. I also doubt their families would be safe either. When I first read this I didn't realize the modern time romance didn't just stop with this book, but continued on with the other books in the series. A very fun read. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars.
123)At the Bride Hunt Ball by Olivia Parker
Really loved this book. About Madelyn who does not wish to marry. Her stepmother, however, has other plans. When a Bride Hunt Ball is announced, all eligible women in the area arrive to see if they can get one of the 7 invitations to the ball. When the solicitor handing out the invitations starts making a bee line for Madelyn she quickly runs the other way. Very fun read. Gave it a 5 out of 5.
124)Bad Attitude (B.A.D. Series, #4) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
About JD Steele, who is offered a job with the Bureau of American Defense (aka BAD). He's in prison serving a 25 year sentence for losing his cool while in the Army and scaring his superior office. The commanding officer had given orders to the men without clearance which caused JD's best friend to die. Bad offers him a position based on one of his former army buddies recommendations on his sharp shooter abilities. There is a romance that develops between JD and his spotter, Sydney. Liked it. Gave it a 3 out of 5.

by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Loved this book and the stories. Very fun, but they messed up the order. The third short story came before the first.
126)Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down (Includes Vikings Underground #2; B.A.D. #2) by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Jaid Black, Melanie George
This books is not as kinky as it sounds. I have to admit I was a little surprised by Kenyon's story which went delving into the land dominatrix for a Bureau of American Defense mission, but other than that it wasn't too shocking. The last story was by Jaid Black (If you remember I gave her book a 1. The only book I've ever put such a rating on.) and I wish this was the story she'd made into a book. I absolutely loved it and it's what I was expecting instead of what was in her book. Makes me sad she didn't expand this one.
127)Castles in the Air by Christina Dodd
Giving this one a 3 out of 5 because it seemed to drag on a little too much in the middle. About Lady Juliana who has been ordered to marry Raymond, the handsome Count of Avrache. She has delayed the marriage by a year by claiming illness and various other excuses. Raymond decides he's had enough waiting and goes to kidnap claim her as his bride, but upon apprehending her he decides to use another tactic and try to get her to fall for him under the guise of the Master Castle Builder. Cute but a little lengthy in the middle.
128)The Key (Deed, # 2) by Lynsay Sands, Lyndsay Sands
Loved it. Very funny. About a woman who gets wed in an attempt to save herself and her mother. When her father dies a neighboring nobleman comes to tell the pair and then proceeds to attempt to get the land by forcing the mother into marriage. Under the protection of her new husband she may provide a safe haven for herself and her mother. There is only one problem with her new husband - he smells because he only takes a bath twice a year. I found it very funny and very enjoyable as she tries to come up with ways to get him to take a bath.
129)Mine Till Midnight (The Hathaways, #1) by Lisa Kleypas (audio book) - Reread
Gave it a 5 out of 5 because this is my favorite Kleypas book. Was disappointed, however, in the audio book. Part of the story was missing even though is was a supposedly unabridged version. Too sad. It missed the evil ex and the treasure. I was so disappointed and briefly thought my mind might be going before checking in with the We Love Lisa Kleypas group to see if what I thought was missing was.
130)Seduce Me at Sunrise (The Hathaways, #2)
by Lisa Kleypas (audio book)- Reread
Another 5 out of 5. What can I say except I love these Roma guys.
131)Viscount Vagabond (Regency Noblemen, #1) (Regency Romance) by Loretta Chase
Another 5 out of 5. Loretta Chase is definitely starting to become one of my top 10 romance authors. Very fun read. Miss Catherine Pelliston runs away from home after her father betroths her to one of his friends. Unfortunately, her situation goes from bad to worse as she finds herself in a brothel with a potential customer whom she must convince to rescue her. Very fun read.
131 1/2)Twelve Minutes by Melina Marchetta
Gave it a 4 out of 5. Won't go into much, but I believe all of what is in this short story is in The Piper's Son.
132)The Piper's Son by Melina Marchetta
I had a hard time reading this book. Kind of delved into too many emotions I myself have experienced over the years. Very heavy reading with a great ending. Loved seeing how everyone from Saving Francesca were doing. Was fun to see Will and Francesca were still going strong. Felt so bad for Tara and was torn between wanting Tom and her to get back together and not get back together. Kind of felt like the opposite of what I experienced after reading In the Woods, but with a more satisfying outcome. Definitely a story about forgiveness. I hope we'll eventually find out what happened to Jim. Maybe in the next book? Gave it a 5 out of 5. Thanks for the loan Jayne.
133)The Deed by Lynsay Sands
Lynsay Sands is in my top 5 favorite romance authors. Her historical romances are lighthearted and fun to read. Emmaline Eberhart just petitioned the King to order her husband to perform his husbandly duties so she could have a child. Upon questioning Emmaline the King finds her husband never consummated the marriage and orders him to do the "Deed". On the way home the poor man dies and the King promptly arranges for Emmaline to marry one of his knights whom he's recently made a Duke. Gave it a 5 out of 5.
134)Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep (Goodreads Author)
Just saw Iron Man 2 this weekend and thought if I could play one of the characters in this movie it would be Natasha Romanoff played by Scarlett Johansson. Well this book's character topped that. Talk about timing. Will definitely need to continue the series. Gin Blanco is known by the name The Spider. She is one of the best assassins out there. She lives in a world where people can manipulate the elements via magic (known as elementals) and giants, dwarfs, and other various creatures are real. A little violent (because she is an assassin) but I loved it. She is going out on her last mission when she is double crossed by her client. After evading the trap set for her she tries to warn her handler but is too late. She finds him murdered and in a most unpleasant way. So begins her quest to avenge her mentor/friend's death. Very fun read. Gave it a 5 out of 5.

135)The Devil Inside(Morgan Kingsley, #1)
by Jenna Black
Not sure what to rate this book. Very different from my normal books. Not a bad story, but will not continue with the series. Read it because it was the BOM of one of my other groups. Had way too much kinky stuff - whips and what not(which I had no idea prior to reading and is something I don't particularly care to have included in the stories I read) and had a guy romance which doesn't particularly appeal to me. So the latest trend seems to be to take creatures which were once only characterized as evil (vampires, succubi, etc.) and give them human characteristics that make you see them in a different light. This one used demons in this way. Making them not evil and attempting to make you actually like them. In this book the main female character is an exorcist. One of the best out there. She is called in to do an exorcism on a young girl, but a demon attempts to possess her. The possession doesn't take place, but she later discovers it's because another demon already possesses her or at least is trying to. Just a little too much going on I don't like for my tastes. Guess I need to check the books more thoroughly before I read.
136)Catch A Mate by Gena Showalter
Very cute. About two characters who work for agencies who catch people cheating. They have trust issues and when they find themselves attracted to each other things get fun.
137)Heart of Gold by Jessica Bird (AKA JR Ward)
This, as far as I can tell, was Ward's first book. Very nice story. It's out of print so I had to get it used via amazon. About an archeologist who attempts to get permission to excavate a site believed to hold a mystery to what happened to gold and some revolutionary figures who disappeared.

Very cute. About a family of private detectives. They are goofy and funny. Imagine your parents checking out the financial aspect of your dates or tailing them to see what information they can find on them. Talk about a dysfunctional family. Private just doesn't have a meaning in this family.
139)To Wed a Wicked Earl by Olivia Parker
I'm really starting to like Parker's books. This is the follow up book to The Bride Hunt Ball. One of the women, Ms. Green, who participated in the Ball now finds herself once again a wallflower. Unbeknownst to her she does have a secret admirer, but in a totally unsuitable package. Very funny and lighthearted.
140) Burned by P.C. Cast & Kirstin Cast
The latest from the house of night series. Much better than last book. Will try to update this review later.
141) Rules of Surrender (Governess Brides, Book 1) by Christina Dodd
Recommended by a couple of gals from another of my groups(Danielle being one of them). Loving this series by Dodd. Read a previous book of hers and wasn't impressed so was glad they told me not to give up on her. About a group of women in the 1800's who start an Academy for Governesses. The three get their first client and the business is finally underway. The client, however, is not the average run of the mill. The children raised in the Middle East have much to learn and through in a wild father to the mix and you've got some fun situations. Loved it.
142) Rules of Engagement(Governess Brides, Book 2) by Christina Dodd
In order to avoid being blackmailed Devon Matthews must make himself appear respectable in the Queen's eyes. Deciding marriage was out of the question he decides to adopt an orphan and, therefore, requires the service of a governess. As only 2 young woman are available for the job, the one decides to wear a disguise to get the much needed money for the start-up business when Matthews requests an older plain looking women. Very fun story. Loved it. Thanks for the recommendation Danielle.

Very fun and different story. About a prison that is alive and observes the prisoners. Originally set up as an experiment to create a perfect world, it is far from that.
144)Irish Thoroughbred (Irish Hearts #1) by Nora Roberts
About a women, Dee, who comes to America from Ireland to live with her uncle after her parents and aunt die. She ends up falling for the owner of the horse ranch she and her uncle work for. Cute. I give it a 3 out of 5.
145)Irish Rose (Irish Hearts #2) by Nora Roberts
About Dee's cousin, Erin, who meets Dee's neighbor and is offered a job to work as his bookkeeper. As this is one of Robert's books the two fall in love. Another 3 out of 5 for this book.

Another great story by Kleypas. Can't wait for the next one. This book finally answered what was in Cat's mysterious past. Fun read.
147)Ten Things I Love About You (Bevelstoke, #3) by Julia Quinn (Goodreads Author)
This was another awesome story by Quinn. About Annabelle, whose future does not look promising. With her grandparents looking to marry her off to one of their friends, an older gentleman who is looking for someone to give him an heir, she is torn. She knows she must make a good match to someone with money who can help support her mother and 7 siblings, but the prospect of marrying the Earl of Newberry is very unappealing. During a rather disturbing encounter with the Earl Annabelle flees to calm herself down and runs into Sebastian, a known rake. This is when things start getting interesting.
148)Rules of the Game (Language of Love #18 - Gladiola) by Nora Roberts
Very fun read. About a commercial producer who falls for a major league baseball player she's working with.
149)The Name of the Game (Language of Love #33 - Trumpet Flower)by Nora Roberts
Another fun read by Roberts. About a game show producer who falls for one of the actor's who guest stars on her show. Very cute.
150)Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, #10) by Charlaine Harris
***Spoilers****
I heard that this book was getting not the most shining of reviews, but I absolutely loved it. The only thing I might have changed was to have more time to get to see Alexei's and Ocella's interaction with Eric. Seemed like a lot happened that we didn't see. On one hand, I'm glad because it sounded like Harris left out a lot of violence. On the other, it would have been nice to see how the hierarchy worked and to see a little of the hold Ocella had on Eric. I would also like to know what Eric meant by saying he was free. I just have a feeling there is more to it then we know at present. I thank Harris for not leaving us with a giant cliffhanger and was relieved Sookie was able to handle her own more so in this book. I'm hoping this is the beginning of a stronger Sookie. Also, wondering if Ocella and Alexei were the ones who Dermot referred to when he said Sookie attracted dead things. Have to go back and see if he said they weren't all vamps. Also, wonder if Eric's new freedom will cause him to become more powerful? Did anyone else wonder what was going on with Sookie when she got upset when Eric wanted to brush her hair? I'm starting to wonder about that blood bond with Eric. Also, wondering about Bill's "sister". Somehow I doubt he feels the same about her as she apparently does about him. I can't see him with anyone but Sookie. Did you notice How Harris seems to be doing an awful lot of matchmaking lately. I hope this doesn't signify the end of the series.
What did you think of Alcide's comment about wishing he and Sookie could have had a relationship? Also, using her as a shaman? I get the feeling that Sookie is going to be converted into something either a Were, Vamp, or a full blown Fey. Okay that darn song is playing in my head again---Everybody wants her(not the exact lyrics, but you get my drift). Oh, and why is Eric more powerful with Sookie? Why does his being with her create a threat? Also, what was the effect Fairy blood have on Vamps? I know it's addictive, but does it give them more power too? I can't remember. Gah! Darn my poor memory.
Was glad to see a little more of Hunter in this one. Can't wait to see what will happen with his character.Could Harris be setting him up to be in another series?
After this book I don't want Harris to put an end to this series any time soon. Don't do it Ms. Harris. Please. :)

Was intrigued by the Sisterhood of the traveling Mistress and decided I'd indulge myself with this book. Also, Maureen suggested I might like another one of Featherstone's books so I decided what the heck, I'd try this one first. Really enjoyed it. About a man who believes he will never find a woman who can except him and his major flaw (yes, I'll let you stew about what that might be). Very fun and hot read. Gave it a four out of 5 (really probably should be a 4.5). I will definitely be interested in reading more of Featherstone's books. Also, really wonder if Cherra might be a nickname for Charlotte? But hey, that's just my suspicious nature. At one point I thought Lady Jayne might somehow be related to Kleypas. LOL

Loved it. Lionel is engaged to Jennifer. He has a spotless reputation. The Earl of Thornhill has been accused of fathering a child with his father's wife and running away with her. Sometimes things aren't always what they seem. Very fun read with a lot of twists. Gave it a 5 out of 5.
155)Lord Carew's Bride (Dark Angel, #2) by Mary Balogh
Samantha is Jennifer's cousin. She was all but seduced by Lionel, her cousin's former betrothed, while he was still engaged to her cousin. She has decided never to marry after the traumatic experience. Now Lionel is back, just as Sam is falling for Hartley. Sam worries she still has feelings for Lionel, but is determined not fall for him again even though he swears he loves her and is reformed. Very fun read. Gave it a 5 out of 5.
156)The Warrior's Touch (Harlequin Historical #866) by Michelle Willingham (Goodreads Author)
I gave this one a 3 out of 5. While an entertaining read it wasn't my favorite of Willingham's books. About a town with a pagan harvest festival in which an "innocent" couple are brought together for well you can guess. When the original female bows out because her betrothed is upset Aileen secretly takes her place. She attempts to tell him the next morning, but he doesn't listen. Jump 7 years into the future and Aileen is now in charge of healing Connor. He still doesn't know it was her that night or that they created a daughter. Fun read.
157)That Scandalous Evening by Christina Dodd
Very fun read. About a Jane who is an artist. Her first season and she befriends another female. When said friend reveals her latest work she is scandalized for the sculpture is of a naked Ransom Quincy, Marquess of Blackburn. Skip to the future 11 years and Jane is back as chaperone to her niece where she hopes to remain out of the limelight. Ransom, however, has other plans.... I gave it a 5 out of 5.

Finally a Sands book with characters from another. Another fun and lighthearted read by Sands. First impressions can be important and Alexander d'Aumesbery just blew his first with his betrothed. Suffering from a bad tooth his blacksmith convinces him to indulge in drink so when the tooth is extracted it will be less painful. Unfortunately that is when Merry Stewart arrives.
159)Rules of Attraction (Governess Brides, Book #3)by Christina Dodd
Another cute story by Dodd. After her successful venture in creating the Distinguished Academy of Governesses with her friends, Miss Hannah Setterington has decided to sell the business and take a position as a companion to and elderly woman.Little did she know she was walking into the carefully thought out trap of her estranged husband who has no intention of letting her get away a second time.
160)Wicked Lovely (Wicked Lovely, #1) by Melissa Marr (Goodreads Author)
Wow. This book is very similar to Lament by Stiefvater. I believe I liked Lament better. The idea of people becoming fairies let alone fairy Queens is a little far fetched. I could see the marriage to a King making one a Queen, but just taking another's place just seemed a little off. I did enjoy the story and may read the sequels. I'm giving it a 3 out of 5.
161)The Elusive Bride(Black Cobra Quartet, #2) by Stephanie Laurens
The women on the cover of this book reminds me of Julia Styles. About a women who is in India and upon an attack delivers a intercepted message for the soldier who stays behind to assure her safe travel. The message contains information as to the Black Cobra's identity. Now she and others must travel back to England to deliver the message back to the British forces and avoid the vengence of the Black Cobra and his followers who will stop at nothing to insure the information doesn't make it to it's final destination.
162)Awaken Me Darkly (Alien Huntress, #1)by Gena Showalter
About an female Alien Huntress who find out about her family past and must decide her future after she discovers her real beginnings.
163)In My Wildest Dreams (Governess Brides, Book #4)by Christina Dodd
This books reminded me so much of the Audrey Hepburn movie Sabrina that I actually looked up the copyright to make sure there was no relationship between the two. If I had written the story of Sabrina I'd be hopping mad at Dodd. The similarities are down right scary and I totally thought I was reading the book that went with the movie. Just a little subtle differences.
In the movie the father was a chauffeur in the book he was the gardener.
Both had the female lead falling for the younger brother of the family her father worked form
In both the main female character comes back from France. In the movie she studied cooking, but in the book she was a governess of a family.
In the end (both book and movie) the main female character falls for the Older sibling who attempts to seduce her away from the younger brother due to some family business dealings with the younger brother's fiance. The only big, and it's really not that big, difference is that in the book the older brother is a spy which I don't recall being in the movie. Gave it a 2 out of 5 because of the Deja Vue feeling while reading.
164)Full Scoop (Full Series, #6)by Janet Evanovich, Charlotte Hughes
Very fun and cute read. About a pediatrician who falls for the FBI agent assigned to protect her and her daughter from an escape convict she'd had a relationship with earlier. Gave it a 3 out of 5.
165)Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake
by Sarah MacLean (Goodreads Author)
I have to admit I read this one because of the title. About a Calpurnia Hartwell. She's 28 and decidedly on the shelf. When her sister, 10 years her junior, becomes engaged she decides to break the rules society has placed on her and finally begin living her life. She creates a list of 10 things she wants to do and then proceeds to do them. First on her list is to kiss someone passionately and she knows just the person she wants to help her mark that one off her list. Very cute and fun read.
166)To Wed a Wicked Prince (Cavendish Square, Book 2)
by Jane Feather
So if I wasn't married and this Prince was real I'd shake it like the naughty wicked witch of the west with him. LOL Okay, so truthfully I just wanted to use that line and it seemed appropriate with the title, but I truly did enjoy the book. The line by the way was from a Nickelback song (one I actually didn't care for, but chuckled at the lyrics when I heard them). A romance with a bit of espionage. He's a Russian prince with a secret past. When Livia Lacey is pursued by Prince Alex Prokov she questions his reasons, but decides they can't be that bad.... Will definitely need to read more of Jane Feather's books. Gave it a 4 out of 5
167)Blue Bloods(Blue Bloods, #1)by Melissa de la Cruz
Really like this Vampire series beginnings and will need to read more.
168)Jared (Shadow Wranglers, #2) by Sarah McCarty
Sequel to McCarty's other vampire book. It was okay, but not as good as some of her other books. Gave it a 3 out of 5.
169)Masquerade (Blue Bloods, #2)by Melissa de la Cruz
I am liking this series. Its fairly original although I'm not positive everyone will like the idea of Vampires being fallen angels. Strange concept, but otherwise good story. Recommended to teens by the library so I decided to read it.
170)The Rake(Lessons in Love, #1)by Suzanne Enoch
Cute story about how a woman decides to teach the man who ruined her a lesson.
171)Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong (Goodreads Author)
Werewolf story that I really loved and will be reading the sequels to. Found it's sequel at a thrift store and decided (for once) to follow the sequence. About the only female werewolf trying to survive in the real world on her own when the pack calls her back into it's fold.
172)The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch, Jeffrey Zaslow (Goodreads Author)
I've wanted to read this book since I first heard of it, but for some reason I hadn't gotten my hands on it until now. What a great book. I laughed, I smiled, and I cried. I gave it a 5 out of 5. A book to remind us what's really important. Written by Randy Pausch to his children and us while he was dying from cancer.

This one started out somewhat similar to one of Karen Marie Moning's books, but was different. I really liked it. About a women who is about to get married. Catches her fiance in the "Act" and he tries to convince her it's her fault. While mulling over her feelings and how to get out of the wedding to take place in less than a week a handsome Highlander seeks her help. She finds herself traveling through time marry him in order to save his sister. Very fun read.
174)A Belated Bride (Rogues, #2) by Karen Hawkins
I like this book more than the other books I've read by Hawkins. About a couple who due to circumstances didn't marry as planned, but meet again later. He, however, has a lot of convincing to do to persuade her he is not a cad and is sincere.
175)No Man's Bride (Misadventures in Matrimony, Book #1) by Shana Galen
Very cute story and will try to read sequels. About a women who has been abused by family and vows to never marry. Her greedy father, however, has other plans and forces her to marry her sister's betrothed. Reminded me of that Biblical switch between Rachel and Leah at the alter, but that is as far as the similarity goes.
176)The Postmistress by Sarah Blake
Very sad, but good story. I gave it a 4 out of 5. About 2 couples and a female radio broadcaster and their journey through part of WWII.
177)A Secret Affair (Huxtable Quintet, #5) by Mary Balogh
I gave this one a 4 out of 5. I really enjoyed seeing the real story behind Con. Very fun read. I was going to list 2 quotes, but I had to get the book back to the library because it was over due.
So here is my vacation reading list, and yes, I did have to buy one more book while on my trip.
178)One Dance with a Duke by Tessa Dare
Very fun read and a book of the month from one of my other groups. About a Duke who has been nicknamed the Duke of Midnight. He arrives at Midnight at balls and only dances with one lucky lady and then promptly leaves. Amelia is a young lady whose brother owes a large sum of money to the Duke. After learning of the debt at a ball she decided to approach the unapproachable Duke and ask him to dismiss the debt. Very fun and cute.
179)Into the Dark by Gena Showalter
This book contains the prequel to Lords of the UnderWorld (LOTU) plus 2 other short stories and a bonus guide to the Lords of the Underworld. One is a LOTU's story and the other is from Gena Showalter's Atlantis series. If new to the LOTU series then read The Darkest Fire(prequel story), but wait till later into the series to read the Darkest Prison. The Atlantis series story, the Amazon's Curse, is later in that series as well. I haven't gotten into the Atlantis series so I'm unsure exactly where that story fits in.
180) The Wicked Duke Takes a Wife by Jillian Hunter
Loved this one and will need to check out some of Hunter's other books. About a young woman who when caught stealing at a peer's house is given the opportunity to reform by studying at the Scarfield Academy for Young Ladies. She later finds herself teaching and touted as one of the school's success stories. When the Duke comes to see his niece he finds himself attracted to the young teacher and....
181)Stolen by Kelley Armstrong
Really loving this werewolf tale, but am sad because it looks like the series wanders off into other supernatural beings. Looked like the next 2 deal with witches. Would have liked the series to continue with the original werewolf pack. I'll still read the next book, but am hoping at some point the series turns back to the werewolves.
182) Love in the Afternoon by Lisa Kleypas
Loved it! Beatrix and Christopher were cute. The whole issue of who wrote the letters to Christopher was funny. Loved when the soldiers under his command sang for them. The use of conversing with letters was fun for the first part of the book. Somehow I doubt Pru would have talked about a horse being seduced by a donkey. I think that should have tipped Christopher off.
183) The Season by Sarah MacLean
This book was different from Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake, but I absolutely loved it. Seemed to have a slightly more sophisticated feel to it then her other book.
***spoilers***
Loved watching Gavin and Alexandra try to deal with friendship turning into love and the uncertainties that come with not knowing the other's feelings. I also loved the murder mystery twist as well, although I was sort of hoping the uncle would end up not being his real uncle, but a spy who had killed and then took up his identity.
184) Good Groom Hunting by Shana Galen
Cute story about a group of girls who swear off marriage and form the Spinsters Club. Searching for a family treasure only she believes exists Josephine propositions her neighbor, Stephen, to an affair so as to gain access to the house where she believes the other half of the treasure map she possesses may be found. Fun read.
185)Mercy by Julie Garwood
I didn't like Garwood's first contemporary murder/mystery, but did like this one. She toned down the look into the mind of the killer or perhaps just didn't make him as demented as the killer of the first book. Loved both Noah and Theo (although not Theo's name). The twist as to the identity of one of the characters was brilliant and if I ever manage to write a book of my own I'd wish to emulate this skill.
186)Highland Destiny by Hannah Howell
I will definitely be reading more Hannah Howell books. Loved this one. Very fun. This book was in the running for BOTM in one of my other groups, but got beat out by One Dance with a Duke.
***SPOILERS***
Loved Maldie and how strong a character she was. I liked the sibling jealousy between Balfour his brother, but didn't understand why they'd go more for the younger brother when the eldest is the one who is Laird. Felt she should have fallen for the younger who had the inferiority complex. I loved the dynamics of the Murray clan and how they were down to earth and understood that family is family even when blood relations are not involved.

Fairly good book, but kind of don't like some of the style of this author. She uses words like Cunny which just bothers me. Don't know why. That's just me. Will probably not read any more books from this author. This was the second book of hers I read and I know some love her books and it's well written, but to me it's missing that special something.
188)The Charmer (Liar's Club, #4) by Celeste Bradley
Liked the book. Should have read the first in the series first, but found this book fun. About a maid who gets trained to be a spy. The only downside to becoming a spy is Collis Treymane, who really gets under Rose Lacey's skin. Collis is her training partner and like all men of the era feels he's superior to Rose.
189)Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia by Elizabeth Gilbert
Okay, I know this is a best seller, but while I thought it was okay and had it's funny moments I really had a hard time getting through it. About a women who goes through a divorce and failed affair and attempts to find herself and her joy again. se Her writing reminded me at times of Bombeck's style, but was not quite as poignant as her books.

Fun read. I love Ward. About a women whose husband died and her husband's best friend who has feelings for her.
191)The Girl Who Played with Fire (Millennium, #2) by Stieg Larsson, Reg Keeland (Translator)
OMG! Awesome book. I feel like kicking myself for not reading this one sooner. Did not have the same affect on my as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Remember the BTK -Bind,Torture,and Kill killer in Kansas - that kind of violence). This goes into Lisbeth's background and I had trouble putting it down (Unlike Eat, Pray, Love which I thought would never end- Yikes!). It has a cliffhanger so in a way I'm glad I didn't read it before The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest came out. I know I'm a sappy female, but I kind of wish Salander and Blomkvist would get together as a permanent couple. Favorite one liner was from Salander, "Kalle F@cking Blomkvist." Tee hee hee. Seemed appropriate and strangely didn't bother me. To all those who had a reaction to the first book like me, this one still has cruelty to women (investigating a human trafficking ring) and there is a "mob" sort of aspect (think Godfather type gore), but not nearly as bad as the first - IMHO.
Now I need to read some of my Summer Challenge books.

78)Twice as Hot (Tales of an Extraordinary Girl, #2)
by Gena Showalter
Loved it. Second in the series about Belle, who had powers forced onto her. She can control the elements which has gotten her nicknames such as Weather Wench, Wonder Girl, and various others. In this book her fiance, Rome, loses his memories of her just weeks before their wedding and the man who took them is now pursuing her for himself.
80)Irresistible (Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, #3)
by Mary Balogh
What can I say, but I love almost all of Balogh's books. Unfortunately, my library didn't have the first 2 in this series so I am forever doomed to read books out of sequence. This book is about 4 men who fought together during the war. Two are still bachelors. One of the unwed men is trying to marry off a sister and cousin and because of this all four men decide to meet in London for the season. They run into the widow of one of their former war colleagues whom all four were fond of. Of course with all romances love is in the air. *chuckle*
