I think it could have been awesome, Amanda, but the suspense portion of it was a little far-fetched, and the villain's reasoning made no sense to me in the end. Also, the heroine of the novel is not my cup of tea...she was rough and rowdy and almost manly at times. I don't mind a tough chick, but I need her to act like a lady sometimes.

Was in a western type mood because of the Hallmark Channel this weekend and read
and
. I enjoyed them both!

Despite in their web, Ilona Andrews said this is mix of paranormal romance and urban fantasy, it's more UF and if you want the romance, you must be patient to read this :)
Now I read

I read Fallen from Grace. It's different kind of love story, but very good and well written.

Oh, it's sooooooooooooooooo good!!!!!!

So glad you loved it! That series is one of my favorites. I re-read it every couple of months.

I'm starting it tonight. I can't wait!

I can see why it's one of your favories! Honestly I didn't think I would like it, but I fell in love..Reading

What is your opinion of this author? Is this book representative of the genre or is a poor example. I'd love to know because unless this book radically improves it will be the first and last of the genre I read.
Grace, are you giving yourself a paranormal challenge? I have given myself a paranormal challenge, but I had to pull back after reading the third paranormal book. It's something about paranormal that doesn't sit well with me. I'll probably give paranormal another try later in the future, but for right now, no.
My first paranormal book was about a vampire and he wasn't what I thought he was going to be. He wasn't tough. He didn't even get my attention.

That is hard because there was a novella prior to that story that explained a lot about the world. Cry Wolf was a little slow to start for me, but picked up about halfway through. I think it would've been worse if I hadn't read the prequel as it shows how and why they are together on the first place. The book after this one, Hunting Ground, is absolutely phenomenal and really solidified my love for Charles and Anna. Briggs is one of the best in my opinion!

I love Patricia Briggs...don't judge her based on the Alpha and Omega's..they weren't really good examples of her for me. Read the Mercy Thompson's. The Adam character is very much an alpha.

I agree with Jennifer, I read Cry Wolf a couple years ago and I like it, but didn't love it. I just finished

Also these books don't have a lot of romance in them (though there is def some)... so they are def not Paranormal Romance, maybe that's what's lacking for you. If you are wanting PNR, there are some really good books out there to try. However I think you should give the Mercy Thompson series a try:)

The romance starts a couple books in...I may have to reread them now. I just love Adam.

My favorite in the series love Conall and if you haven't read the Pride series their great as well
