~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) Fallen was pretty good. I enjoyed it. The 2nd book kinda made me mad though. I'm gonna re-read it soon and see if it still does. lol

A few that I recommend that always entertain me no matter what:
The Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost
The Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs
The Fever series by Karen Marie Moning (Lord help me I love them so much...Barrons Barrons Barrons)
First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones
Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie
The Drake Sisters series (oh Ilya Prakenski how I love you) and the Ghostwalkers series by Christine Feehan

Erica*aka* KHAOZ Flores (ladye78texas) | 21 comments WAS THE 2ND ONE A LET DOWN ? B/C I HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS IN A SERIES. THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTIONS , YOU MADE FEVER SOUND WORTH WHILE .

message 3153: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) It didn't really resolve anything...and it left me a little frustrated. I hope the next one is a little less wishy-washy.

The Fevers are so worthwhile...omgosh.
Start here Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning . Seriously. :)

message 3157: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments Read Nora by Diana Palmer yesterday (4*), then reread Diamond Girl by Diana Palmer (4*) and then read Surrender (MacKinnon’s Rangers, #1) by Pamela Clare last night.. What a great book! I loved the Mackinnons, although I did find their heritage pretty fun: exiled Highlanders with Viking blood (from their mother, apparently), raised with the Mohicans.. Lol.. Can't get any fiercer! 5*

message 3158: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments Read Betrayed By Love (Ranch Rogues / Western Lovers) by Diana Palmer and Pregnant by the Warrior (Harlequin Historical, #978) by Denise Lynn (4.5* and 3*)
Finished Indigo Blue (Comanche, #3) by Catherine Anderson , which was good, but not as good as the first two, IMO.. I htought that Indigo grated a little.. I was expecting her to have more fire.. But Jake and the last 100 pages more than make up for Indigo's lack of temper!

Going to reread The Charm School (Calhoun #1) by Susan Wiggs (turns out I have the ebook!)

Shellbelle | 161 comments Just finished up The Sweetest Thing (Lucky Harbor, #2) by Jill Shalvis by Jill Shalvis. It was so adorable:) The first book in the series was amazing and the second installment of the Lucky Harbor series was just as great! Excited for the third!

Still listening to Fallen (Fallen, #1) by Lauren Kate on audio in the car, but I'm almost done. It's pretty good and I'm sure I'll read the second in the series.

Also been listening to Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs on my Iphone, I'm really getting into it, but I think I'll finish it on my Nook, because the Narrirators voice is driving me nuts!

I think it could have been awesome, Amanda, but the suspense portion of it was a little far-fetched, and the villain's reasoning made no sense to me in the end. Also, the heroine of the novel is not my cup of tea...she was rough and rowdy and almost manly at times. I don't mind a tough chick, but I need her to act like a lady sometimes.

Was in a western type mood because of the Hallmark Channel this weekend and read Sierra Bride by Jenna Kernan and Where the Wind Blows (Leisure Historical Romance) by Caroline Fyffe . I enjoyed them both!

message 3165: by Ren Puspita (new)

Ren Puspita (renpuspita) I read On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews

Despite in their web, Ilona Andrews said this is mix of paranormal romance and urban fantasy, it's more UF and if you want the romance, you must be patient to read this :)

Now I read Pack Challenge (Magnus Pack, #1) by Shelly Laurenston .. I hear this book is humorous, need some laugh after a hard day :D

message 3191: by Grace (new)

Grace Elliot (httpwwwgoodreadscomgraceelliot) | 4 comments I'm currently reading Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs by Patricia Briggs. This is the first paranormal I've read and I'm about a 1/3 of the way through. I had high hopes for this book because I'd read it had a strong Alpha character but so far I completely underwhelmed.
What is your opinion of this author? Is this book representative of the genre or is a poor example. I'd love to know because unless this book radically improves it will be the first and last of the genre I read.

message 3192: by Arch (new)

Arch | 4247 comments Mod
Grace, are you giving yourself a paranormal challenge? I have given myself a paranormal challenge, but I had to pull back after reading the third paranormal book. It's something about paranormal that doesn't sit well with me. I'll probably give paranormal another try later in the future, but for right now, no.

My first paranormal book was about a vampire and he wasn't what I thought he was going to be. He wasn't tough. He didn't even get my attention.

That is hard because there was a novella prior to that story that explained a lot about the world. Cry Wolf was a little slow to start for me, but picked up about halfway through. I think it would've been worse if I hadn't read the prequel as it shows how and why they are together on the first place. The book after this one, Hunting Ground, is absolutely phenomenal and really solidified my love for Charles and Anna. Briggs is one of the best in my opinion!

I love Patricia Briggs...don't judge her based on the Alpha and Omega's..they weren't really good examples of her for me. Read the Mercy Thompson's. The Adam character is very much an alpha.

I agree with Jennifer, I read Cry Wolf a couple years ago and I like it, but didn't love it. I just finished Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs book 1 in the Mercy Thompson series and by the same author and it was amazing!

Also these books don't have a lot of romance in them (though there is def some)... so they are def not Paranormal Romance, maybe that's what's lacking for you. If you are wanting PNR, there are some really good books out there to try. However I think you should give the Mercy Thompson series a try:)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I'm reading Fallen From Grace by Laura Leone which is turning out to be a great read.
