Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments Just finished Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #1) by Larissa Ione and LOVED it! I was curious about how Cara's little "problem" would resolve itself, but it worked!! Can't wait for the next installment!!

message 3004: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I'm reading Industrial Magic (Women of the Otherworld, #4) by Kelley Armstrong , which had a slow start but has turned into a really good book.

message 3005: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments Read Scoundrel (The Blades of the Rose, #2) by Zoe Archer this evening, loved it (great Indiana Jones-type book with an actual storyline!!)
and just finished Archangel's Kiss (Guild Hunter, #2) by Nalini Singh .. **sigh** Raphael gets hotter and hotter!!:-D

Sherry (trblemkrgurl) | 1 comments Just started ...So far i really like it and im sure ill be up late tonight reading it! :)

message 3007: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (kittiescardigansbooks) | 207 comments I am dying to read Eternal Rider (Lords of Deliverance, #1) by Larissa Ione ! I'm so jealous of both of you, Sherry and Melanie!

No real dangerous heroes in the last few books I've read - but they were all really good!
Animal Magnetism (Animal, #1) by Jill Shalvis , Provocative in Pearls (The Rarest Blooms, #2) by Madeline Hunter , After Dark with a Scoundrel (Lords of Vice, #3) by Alexandra Hawkins

message 3008: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments @Amanda - I was actually disappointed in Animal Instincts after reading Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis! Found it cute, but nowhere near the fabulousness that was Simply Irresistible (Lucky Harbor, #1) by Jill Shalvis .. have you read that one?

 Shellbelle | 161 comments Melanie wrote: "@Amanda - I was actually disappointed in Animal Instincts after reading Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis! Found it cute, but nowhere near the fabulousness that was [bookcover:Simply Irresistible..."

I had that same problem!!! Simply Irresistible was so cute, and I liked Animal Instincts but it took me awhile to read:( Can't wait to read book 2 in the Lucky Harbor series, hope it was as good as 1st book:)

message 3010: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (kittiescardigansbooks) | 207 comments I did read Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis too - about a month before I read Animal Magnetism (Animal, #1) by Jill Shalvis . I probably liked them equally. I just think the characters in the books were different enough, and the situations different enough that I didn't really compare them too much in my mind. It is easier for me to compare books within the same series than it is to compare separate books.

I think the one thing that I appreciated in Animal Magnetism over Simply Irresistible was that the usual formula of 3 best girlfriends/sisters + 3 best guyfriends/brothers = a romance trilogy, wasn't there. Although the heroines for the next books weren't a secret (I'm pretty sure who they are), their stories haven't started yet, and we don't know any of the history surrounding the characters beyond who they were to Brady and Lilah.

I'm with you about being excited to read The Sweetest Thing (Lucky Harbor, #2) by Jill Shalvis ! But there are tons of holds on it at my library and I'm too poor to buy it!

message 3011: by Annabel (new)

Annabel (boekenwormmom) I'm reading Lover Eternal by J.R. Ward at the moment

message 3012: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments @ Amanda - I actually have The Sweetest Thing, I'm just waiting to reread the first before getting to it:-) Totally looking forwards to it!

Just finished my reread of Desire Untamed (Feral Warriors, #1) by Pamela Palmer .. **sigh** still as good as the first time I read it!
I have so many series to reread, seeing as so many books just came out! I have to reread the Night Huntress, Feral Warriors, last two books in the BDB, Simply Irresistible, and the Demonica series, lol.. Lots of good books, but it's going to take me a while, lol!

message 3013: by Shellbelle (new)

 Shellbelle | 161 comments Reading The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #2) by Molly Harper !!! Love these books, soooooo funny:)

message 3014: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) Hi everyone, I haven't been on here in ages. Here's what I've been up to:

Blood Pact and Blood Lines an awesome UF-type vampires series;
Darkling I Listen excellent title but the book itself quite ordinary,
The Heir really good, I'd recommend this one even though towards the end I got so bloody mad I almost threw the it at the wall (it redeems itself, though!);
Goddess of the Hunt a re-read of one of my all-time favourites
An Arranged Marriage blech - DNF;
Man of My Dreams another re-read of an old favourite;
The Crowd Pleasers WooHoo! 5 stars for this train wreck of a book!
A Faint Cold Fear crime series, not everyone's cuppa;
Notorious Pleasures great installment in the series - I love this author;
Indiscreet this book is set in Constantinople - excellent locations!
Sexiest Man Alive a fun, mindless romp
Lord of Scoundrels another re-read of a truly excellent book;
Seven Secrets of Seduction I'm not sure what to say about this one - a new author for me. I loved the flirting and the banter and the double entendres. Lots of tension and wordplay.

Not sure WHAT to read next!

message 3015: by Ren Puspita (new)

Ren Puspita (renpuspita) I'm reading Flat-Out Sexy (Fast Track, #1) by Erin McCarthy

Why if the book has heroine older than the hero, there are always classic problem, such the heroine is not confident with herself, and sometimes use her child as a shield or reason to not say love to the man *sigh*

I loved that book, the whole series actually:) But I know what you mean about the kid thing. They acted like dating with kids is the biggest no-no ever! She used it as a shield and it became a bit annoying at times. It had a slow pacing because of that I think. Other than that I loved it, and the other two books were soooo much better, and the third comes out on tues! Can't wait:)

Amanda (kittiescardigansbooks) | 207 comments @ Megan - I've had that book for a while but keep getting distracted away from it everytime I'm going to read it! Let me know what you think of it - I really liked the first, so I think that is what's making me nervous about this one...

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) It's once again time for inappropriate thoughts about the almost legal Jace! :) City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare is on the menu for today!

Just finished the HP Mallory Jolie Wilkins books...they were so good! I <3 Sinjin.

Courtney (mrs_hf) | 164 comments Been on vacation for a while! Back to the real world.

***KINDA SPOILERS AHEAD???***

Read Lover Unleashed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #9) by J.R. Ward and thought it was so so. Definitely a "middle of the larger story" novel. It felt like there were a few stories throughout the book that went unfinished and the Manny/Payne thing was just something that was kind of happening in the middle of all of these larger stories. (Ever feel like if Blay and Qhuinn just sat down and actually freaking talked to each other for like 5 minutes they could probably figure things out and be together. That really drove me freaking nutso in this book. I just want their HEA SO SO SO bad!!) I mean, that's the general idea of a "series" of books but this one definitely felt that way. No "huge, awesome, blow my mind" things happened. Still amazing though! Love The Warden. Love Manny and Payne. Love the story.

Anywho, working through The Darkest Lie (Lords of the Underworld, #6) by Gena Showalter then onward to The Darkest Secret (Lords of the Underworld, #7) by Gena Showalter ! Yay! :D I haven't read Gena Showalter in a while so getting back into her world is taking some time. Loving it though. *sigh* Gideon is heaven. ;)

I really enjoyed The Body Finder!

Yesterday I finished A Lot Like Love by Julie James and No Mercy (Dark-Hunter, #19) (Were-Hunter, #6) by Sherrilyn Kenyon ! Both great reads!

message 3035: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments Lol Megan, you've read everything I have, seems like! You were right about A's consort, btw (although my very fave was probably the second book in the series).. I had to go to the dentist, so I'm actually starting The Body Finder now:-)

Megan, have you read JJ's other books? I'm behind on the DH series, I kind of lost track after Acheron.. The thing is, I never felt like reading Stryker's books.. Not a big fan of his.. Did you like it?

message 3036: by ~Megan~ (new)

~Megan~ (megadee) | 1084 comments Mod
We do seem to read the same books, Melanie! LOL

I have read all of JJ's books except Practice Makes Perfect...loved every one of them!!

I absolutely could not pick up a DH book for probably a year or two after Acheron. I tried Stryker's book and had to put it down without finishing it. I picked up Bad Moon Rising last month and it got me back into the series. Acheron just destroyed me emotionally, I think....but I'm back to loving the books again. I would skip Stryker's book if I were you...it was horrific.

I'm definitely with you on this one Megan. I, literally, was just able to read No Mercy. It was still rough for me. There is just no emotion left after Acheron's book. Gah!

Yeah, Acheron was draining, but I just couldn't understand why on earth she would write a book about Stryker.. Can I continue the series without reading it (without missing anything)?

Oh, and Practice makes Perfect was probably my fave by JJ.. Definitely read it!

Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments I just finished reading My Irresistible Earl (Inferno Club, #3) by Gaelen Foley by Gaelen Foley, and I loved it! I'm thrilled, because her last book, IMO, was way too Indiana-Jonesy (and not in a good way for a HR) so I was a little anxious about how this one would turn out (since I loved all her other books).. Fabulous **sigh**! A perfect "reunited couple" plot:-D
