Lashell, Acheron completely destroyed me. Maybe it had more impact because I'd read the whole series leading up to that book and was therefore completely connected to his character.

I thought part two was a letdown, too, though. I didn't much care for his heroine...he deserved so much more. But then again, could anyone ever be great enough to make up for all he went through?

I don't know if this is weird or not, but I really want Max and Gina to end up together. I know their age difference is huge, but they are cute together. :)

Darcy, I am not going to spoil you about who Max and Gina wind up with, unless you want me to. :)

message 2107: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 704 comments No, Arch, as much as I want to know, I want to find out as they do. The book where Gina showed up was so heartbreaking. I was listening to the audio of it and when she was on I stopped what I was doing. When she actually got raped I almost cried!! She was doing pretty good holding her own up to that point. And Max listening to it, OMG, how hard would that have been to stand by and do nothing when htat is the last thing in the world you wanted to do.

I hope you don't mind me saying. It won't drag out.

You'll have to see Darcy. :)

I'm glad that Sam and Alyssa finally hooked up in Gone Too Far.

Thank you SO much Danielle!! Gah! I was so confused. I hate feeling like I'm missing a huge chunk of the story! :-\

Sorry, Danielle, I wasn't ignoring you, I haven't gotten any updates for days!!! I'm LOVING Barrons, wish this series was more PNR than UF so I got more and more and more of him, lol.

Right now I'm reading a Patricia Gaffney (Fortune's Lady), while I wait for Faefever to come in at the library ;)

I am giving her a pass. I believe Nocturne City is her first series. She was three books deep with Luna and crew before Street magic came out. I know this b/c I bought witchcraft and second skin with street magic.

So I finished the book. Am happy with what happened with Sam and Alyssa. With Gina and Max, so so. I am glad that Gina took things into her own hands, but at the end there was no clue where things when from there. I hate that. It is a good thing that I have the next 2 books here ready to go, but have to finish my current audio book before I start them.

All I can say Darcy, is keep reading the series. :)

message 2118: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 704 comments I plan on it Arch. After I was done with the book I clicked on the next ones and read what they were about. Usually I don't do that as I want to be surprised.

Happy New Year Katie.

message 2121: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) Finished Blood Price and Blood Trail - great series, for anyone who is looking for a vampire/weres - type read. I just started reading Still Lake, a romantic suspense by Anne Stuart.

message 2122: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 704 comments I just finished up with Skin Tight (Skin, #2) by Ava Gray and An Unforgettable Lady by Jessica Bird , and am listening to Flashpoint (Troubleshooters, #7) by Suzanne Brockmann .

message 2124: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (kittiescardigansbooks) | 207 comments Finished Fragile (Rafferty, #1) by Shiloh Walker , and liked it - although it was darker than I usually like with a lot of intense things happening. I'll probably read the second book eventually because I am really curious about what is going on with Quinn, but I'll hold off on that for awhile. About to start Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning and excited about it - I've already read the second book in this series, To Tame a Highland Warrior (Highlander, #2) by Karen Marie Moning , and loved it, so I decided I'd better read the first!

I'm starting Gone Too Far (Troubleshooters, #6) by Suzanne Brockmann . Sam!

I'm happy to be rereading this book.

Wan (wanwaddell) | 252 comments Katie - be patient with this series though. I didn't like the first book at all but the second book on LOVE them.

message 2127: by La La (new)

La La | 132 comments I'm currently reading Shadows at Midnightby Elizabeth Jennings and so far I am just too through with Elizabeth Jennings aka Lisa Marie Rice. I read Into the Crossfireabout a month or two ago and I feel like I'm reading it again with this book. Both books read almost exactly the same. Almost the same premise and the same characters. Ex Military turned Security and fragile female translator. I think I'm done with Ms. Jennings/Rice. I feel like as a reader she is treating me like I'm stupid.

message 2128: by Dija (new)

Dija Currently reading Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane and I love love LOVE Chess. I think I've finally given my heart to Terrible, and then Lex comes along and messes it all up again. :(

message 2129: by La La (new)

La La | 132 comments So I finally forced myself to finish Shadows at Midnight by Elizabeth Jennings . I gave it one star due to the fact that the books was just a repeat of the authors other novels. I started Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane , but my head is not ready for that world, so now I decided to start Personal Demons (Megan Chase, #1) by Stacia Kane .

message 2130: by Arch (new)

Arch | 4247 comments Mod
Lashell, what do you mean by, the first book was a repeat of the author's other novel?

message 2131: by Megan (new)

Megan | 186 comments I finished Strong, Silent Type (Rough Riders #6.5) by Lorelei James and am listening to Seven Up (Stephanie Plum, #7) by Janet Evanovich on audio book. Probably going to start Raising Kane (Rough Riders, #9) by Lorelei James and Flat-Out Sexy (Fast Track, #1) by Erin McCarthy tonight.

message 2132: by La La (new)

La La | 132 comments Hi Arch, Happy New Year! Shadows at Midnight read very similiar to "Into the Crossfire" by Lisa Marie Rice aka Elizabeth Jennings. I mean there were a few difference but the feel of the story was the same. There also seemed to be some Dangerous Man thrown in for good measure. I am a huge Lisa Marie Rice fan, but this book just annoyed me.

Arch | 4247 comments Mod

message 2134: by Jaime (new)

Jaime Rush (jaime_rush) | 59 comments Just finished Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews and am now into Dark Challenge (Carpathians, #5) by Christine Feehan . Uber dark heroes! Holidays are good for me, because we drive like 11 hours and I get to READ!!! It's harder when my hubby's listening to a book, though (he drives the whole way). So listened to Too Close to Home by Linwood Barclay while trying to read :)

Just started Changeless (The Parasol Protectorate, #2) by Gail Carriger , and I'm a little worried after all the reviews I've read. Lord Maccon doesn't seem to be very nice in this book.

lol, your poor husband Jaime_Rush.

message 2137: by JC (new)

JC (ainathiel) I don't know the last time I posted, so I Just finished Her Best Friend's Lover by Shiloh Walker by Shiloh Walker and will start Fragile (Rafferty, #1) by Shiloh Walker . I am also finishing Changes (The Dresden Files, #12) by Jim Butcher by Jim Butcher and will start Pure Blood (Nocturne City, #2) by Caitlin Kittredge and Choices (Indigo Love Spectrum) by Tammy Williams , so I don't get paranormal book burn out.

message 2138: by Courtney (last edited Jan 05, 2011 08:37PM) (new)

Courtney (mrs_hf) | 164 comments So, I'm working my way through The Liar's Club series and The Royal Four series by Celeste Bradley! Please, keep in mind that I am NO reviewer! I have just been noticing something as I'm working through the two story lines! :)

I'm finding that the first part of her books almost bore me to tears but once things start happening to the main characters in the middle and at the end of the book I find that, although I was bored and exacerbated by the lengthy descriptions of family histories, surroundings, hair color, and dresses, I have somehow become completely and utterly attached to these characters! So when the usual bad-ness starts happening before all of the wonderful lovey stuff at the end I am just as emotionally devastated as the characters. I found I was crying with the characters and laughing out loud at the funny quips and sassy remarks (much to my husbands dismay lol).

So, all in all, I LOVE her writing and her characters but MAN it is tough to get through that first third! Gah!

ANYWAY! I'm onward to The Spy! WOO!

Courtney, I am glad you are working your way though the Liar's Club. I think I like the Royal Four even better (although I've only read the first two).

message 2140: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) I'm reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman as a change of pace from everything else I've been reading lately. It's a decent story, but it's just not grabbing me and sucking me into the story. I don't HAVE to finish the book in one sitting. I need something that will occupy my time til Shadowfever comes out! hehe
