That is good to know because within the first 30 pages I realized that I tried to read this one a couple of years ago and gave it up. I am now around page 100 and still feeling that way, was ready to give it up. I will keep going now to see if it gets any better.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Some books struggle with FITs (First In The Series) more than others. I'll be sure and keep this in mind as well, when I start this one.

That is true, but some times I just can't bring myself to even finish the 1st one if it is boring or tedious.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Darcy,

I almost ALWAYS finish a book unless it's so repulsive or heinous... something along those lines. BUT, that said, there was one book recently that I tried to read, expected to love because so many people did, but just couldn't bring myself to finish. It was Tempt Me with Darkness by Shayla Black, book 1 of the Doomsday Brethren. To me, the storyline was so, so unbelievable, so unimaginative... I just couldn't do it.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 704 comments I have no problem quitting a book. I think part of it is that I read a lot and so if the book can't pull me in I will quit it. There are just so many books out there that I want to try that I figure why waste my time with something that isn't all that interesting to me. I find too that if I force myself to finish one of these books I never end up liking it.

I will give most books a try because of this and an sometimes surprised when I find one I don't expect to like and I love it. But the reverse happens to, one that I expect to love ends up being a dud.

I have read that Shayla Black book, and while it was slow I ended up liking it and the series is a fun one. But I know every book isn't for every person and that is ok too.

That's what I hear, so I fully intend to try it again one of these days. It might have been mood or timing, or maybe I just won't like it and as you say, that's ok, too!

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 704 comments So, I had to give up The Darkest Night, I made it to page 250, but just couldn't stand it any more. I managed to try another couple of duds in the mean time, so now I need a good book to get me out of this funk. I'm going with Whispering Rock (Virgin River, #3) by Robyn Carr , this series is always a good.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Oh, I love the Virgin River series! Truly, I do. *sigh*

message 1009: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 704 comments I have #3 and #4 here. I need a sure thing after all the duds lately. lol

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish LOL!!! I've heard the last 3 weren't very good, but I haven't read them yet. I'm saving them for a sure thing, too.

I think Forbidden Falls, Angel's Peak, and Moonlight Road were pretty darn good, but I didn't think much of the last one, Sheltering Hearts (#12), a novella in More Than Words vol.6.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Oh, was Sheltering Hearts the free read, Mollie?

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish And I'm glad to hear you liked it!

Courtney (mrs_hf) | 164 comments Picked up For the Roses (Rose, #1) by Julie Garwood from the library. Only on the 5th chapter and I am deeply in love with this book!!! *sigh* Can't wait to start reading it again tomorrow morning! :D

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish YES!!!!! I told you, I told you!!! Wasn't the prologue/beginning so, so, so cute and wonderful???

message 1016: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (mrs_hf) | 164 comments It was adorable! I have a soft spot for the 'brothers who love their sisters' theme cause I was raised by my three male cousins who were all older than me. We were raised like brothers/sister and I just love it when this theme comes around! Brings back all kinds of fun/loving memories! :D

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I loved it when they discovered she wasn't a he at all.

That's a sweet story about your cousins!

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 704 comments I'm giving Hard to Hold (Hold trilogy, #1) by Stephanie Tyler a shot. I do like the books this author writes with Larissa Ione, so I am hoping she is good on her own like Ione is.

Oh, you MUST tell us how this one is. I have it here to read, too, but I've not read anything else by her.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 704 comments Dhestiny ~ I am about 100 pages in and I really like it. The guy, Jake, is very much the alpha male, and he has 2 brothers and all 3 of these guys are just plain crazy, but in a good way.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Awesome, Darcy, thanks! Does it remind you of anything or anyone else? Another author, another series?

I have written a review to Black Ice by Anne Stuart, just to have Goodreads not save my review. I didn't know that my review wasn't saved, until after I have written to review, saved it and came back to my home page. I've noticed that Black Ice was still showing up in my currently reading box, when I was finished with the book and I have already hit finished hours ago. I've noticed that my finished date wasn't correct, so I have clicked on edit review to go change my finished date, to find my review box empty. So, I have just made a comment, hidden in spoiler, stating that I wasn't going to write another review.

The book was a good read, but it didn't stand tall to Fire and Ice. I'm glad that Fire and Ice was my first book in this series. Sometimes, it's good that I don't read a series in order.

Gone Too Far by Suzanne Brockmann is a prime example. Sam caught my eye and thank goodness that was my first book by Suzanne.

Reno is no Sam in my eyes, but he did catch my attention in Fire and Ice. Not Sam attention, but attention none the less.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Gah! I'm sorry that happened to you, Arch! I'm afraid it happens quite often though. I've started writing all of my reviews into a Word document first, then copying and pasting it into Goodreads. That way, if something goes wrong, I have it all saved. I learned that lesson like you did - the hard way.

Again, I'm sorry that happened!

This must be a serious glitch, if this happen to you and I am sure it happened to others as well.

I usually write my review on Goodreads and like to copy it to carry it over to Shelfari. I thought about doing that first, but I had some spoiler information in my review and I didn't want to spoil anyone on Shelfari. Shelfari doesn't have a spoiler option.

If anyone wants to know how I felt about the book and expects spoilers, then feel free to send me a email. I don't review every book that I read on my blog. I only write about books and or characters that really catches my attention. I guess I might have to go ahead and write the review on my blog.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I'm on Shelfari, but it confuses me. LOL Most things do.

I would say this series is a cross between Lora Leigh's Seal books (but not so much emphasis on sex) and Roxane St. Claire's Bullet Catcher books.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish OK, I love TemptingSEALS and haven't read Bullet Catchers yet.

Thanks for the information!

lol UniquelyMoi, I was thinking about copying it and pasting it to Goodreads, but since Goodreads lost my other review, I've decided against it, but I will go ahead and copy it here too.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Well, it would be nice because it will be helpful for other Goodreads readers.

I've just copied my review here and Goodreads took it. I hope this review doesn't disappear.

I have only rated the book on Shelfari. I don't want to spoil anyone over there.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I think it was really nice of you to take the time to write the review, again. Reviews are soooo helpful to me when deciding to read a book.

My New Years Resolution is to write a review for every book I read. I was 5 behind but caught up yesterday and today. I'll start posting them tomorrow.

I'm writing mine even if I don't care for it, because I feel that if the author took the time to write the book, I took the time to read it, I want to help anyone else who might be trying to decide if they want to read it or not. Also, it really, really helps me to remember what I read and pay closer attention when reading because I know I'll be writing about it. LOL

I have only rated the book by then, I might write a review for it or just leave it along.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I just finished Hard Evidence (I-Team, #2) by Pamela Clare and LOVED it! Daaayyyyyyyyyyyam, but Julian is amazing. Not just sexually hot, but he ooozes charisma and sexuality in everything he does.

What to read next.....

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Thanks, Mollie! Harlequin was giving away the ebook of Sheltering Hearts, and that's where I got it. It wasn't the whole book, just that one story. Sorry if I made it sound like the whole book was free.
