Yes, you will, I think it's among the funniest romances I've ever read, and among the most well-written as well. Keep an eye out for the notices the nerds put up in the halls.

I've started Cooking Up A Storm by Emma Holly
Cooking Up A Storm (Black Lace) by Emma Holly more sex scenes than plot so far.

Lol,if I recall, that doesn't change! Sex scenes make up 90% of Emma Holly's Cooking Up A Storm lol..

If she doesn't get with the plot soon I'm going to give up on it and read something with more quality. I don't mind a well-crafted erotic romance, in fact that's my favorite genre, but I've yet to read one well-written by Holly.

I think Cooking up a Storm was my least fave EH.. The sex scenes may be hot (although in this book they went a little beyond my comfort zone sometimes, lol), but like you say, no plot:-)

I personally liked EH's historical books more(I think... it's been a while!): Beyond Innocence and Beyond Seduction (the second more than the first)..

Regarding her contemporary erotic romances, it's pretty much mostly sex.. All U Can EatPersonal Assets were hot, a little lacking in emotional depth, but enjoyable nonetheless:-)

I will have to start this book this weekend.

Mollie *scoutrmom* (scoutrmom) | 635 comments @Melanie I've read all those you mentioned, and agree with your assessment. I think her paranormal stories are much better.

@Arch I'm glad you trust our recommendations to this extent, after all, your taste might differ.

Last night I couldn't sleep and read a couple of series romances. The first, Fire Of Spring by Elizabeth Lowell from 1986 was not very good, she's gotten a lot better over the years.

Here's the link to my review of the second, it has spoilers.
Mollie's review of Her Hero in Hiding

Rachel Lee did a good job with Her Hero in Hiding but I didn't agree with the ending. Even those who don't generally like series romance might like this one.

I love Linda's character, John Medina. Plus, I love catcher nerds. So, I'll have to check out Sam. He might be a nerd.

message 758: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments @Arch.. Um "nerd" wouldn't be what I'd call Sam Donovan:-D He's a hoooot police detective who apparently makes the "list", lol:-) Verrrry sexy:-)

Okay, not a nerd. A lawman? I like a good catcher lawman too.

I hope Sam is bad. I like it when the hero is a good bad boy. I like when he has a warp sense of humor. He's sarcastic. Sassy.

Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments Lol... like I said, probably not up to your exacting standards Arch, but he's irritable, hot for Jaine, and has a sexy 'tude:-p

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 704 comments I just started Shelter Mountain (Virgin River, #2) by Robyn Carr and really like this one.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I really like the Virgin River Series. I have, but have not read, the last 3. I hear they aren't very good.

I just ordered the first two, I hope they're as good as I've heard they are.

message 767: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 704 comments Since this is only the second book, I am still reserving judgement on the series as a whole, but so far so good.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I've enjoyed all of them, Noelle. I just haven't been able to get to the last 3.

I understand that, I was able to buy books 9 10 & 11 from the ubs but I don't know if I'll be able to stick with the series that long. If I do it will be a first.lol

Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments Just finished Dream Man by Linda Howard which is now one of my new favorite books:-) I love the whole "tough stubborn male who doesn't realize the depth of his feelings for the heroine till he almost loses her" theme:-p

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Is it HR or CR? Heat factor?

Mollie *scoutrmom* (scoutrmom) | 635 comments UniquelyMoi *~*Dhestiny*~* wrote: "..the Virgin River Series. I have, but have not read, the last 3. I hear they aren't very good."

I disagree, I've read them and think they are all very good. Since you already have them, it's certainly worth a shot. #12, in an anthology, is the only one I don't have yet.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Oh, I intend to read them, especially since I have them. Someone not liking them could be burn out, or any number of reasons. Like I said, I really enjoyed them!

Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments :-) Finished Open Season by Linda Howard , thought it was extremely funny (loved the part where Daisy buys the condoms, lol)... 4-4.5 stars:-)

UM, you were talking about the Virgin River Series, right?

I read Open Season a little while ago and the condom thing was so funny, it had me sitting out my soda.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Yep, Melanie. I was talking about VR.

Mollie *scoutrmom* (scoutrmom) | 635 comments I don't remember that scene, now I'll have to re-read it (it's been several years).

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I'm reading Skin Game and really loving it.

Mollie *scoutrmom* (scoutrmom) | 635 comments UniquelyMoi *~*Dhestiny*~* wrote: "I'm reading Skin Game and really loving it."

I liked that one a lot...enjoy!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I'm really liking it. Only on page 90 now, but it's very good, very well written and has me wanting to know more about the characters and what makes them tick.

Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments Just finished Rebellious Desire by Julie Garwood .. The ending was a little too quick for my tastes, but I loved the interaction between Caroline and Jered:-)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish That was my least favorite book, Melanie, but like you I loved the interaction and that opening carriage/shooting scene was priceless.

message 783: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments Lol wasn't it? And Mr. Harold Smith:-D

I was expecting better from Garwood.. I loved Jered, but like I said, the conflict resolution left something to be desired.. I usually like a couple chapters worth of angst and torment where everything comes together ( think Lisa Kleypas, Gaelen Foley, Liz Carlyle,... ) and even if, to me, Garwood's books lack some of that, I usually adore them all, so I was a bit disappointed in this one: not even 10 pages of angst!!:-)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish And her thoughts about his fashion? LOL

Mollie *scoutrmom* (scoutrmom) | 635 comments Just read a couple of 1995 series suspense books by author Suzanne Brockmann repackaged as Nowhere to Run: Not Without Risk / A Man to Die For and they were great. Currently reading Destined for an Early Grave by Jeaniene Frost.
Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress, #4) by Jeaniene Frost
The new video for Frost's next Night Huntress World book, Eternal Kiss of Darkness is out now at her website, I found it fun to watch even if one has not read her books:

message 789: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) I just finished First Drop of Crimson and really liked it. Spade is quite the hero (whew - fans self!) Now I really have to read Halfway to the Grave to find out how all this started.

You are in for a real treat with the Night Huntress books-I wish I could read them over again for the first time :)especiall the last one,I`ll be nuts before I get my hands on the new one.

Yeah, me too. Frost has been added to the very small list of authors I've read from the library that I actually would go out and buy just so I'll have a copy of my own.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish I'm still reading Skin Game (Skin, #1) by Ava Gray . It's taking forever because the font is so small that by bed time, when I do most of my reading, my eyes are too tired. I've gone through several short stories on my ereader though.

I hate it when the publishers have the tiny font for print. Come on make it a little bigger and just have more pages.

message 795: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 704 comments I will be reading Running Scared (Sentinel Wars, #3) by Shannon K. Butcher later today.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Darcy,

Yes, I agree. I think this one doesn't even have 300 pages, so adding a few more wouldn't have hurt.

Melanie (melaina) | 411 comments Finished An Unforgettable Lady by Jessica Bird Untamed by Emma Wildes (need to get more books by both these authors, lol), and am going to do a reread of the BDB before reading Lover Awakened and Lover Mine:-) So I'm starting Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward :-) yay, I love getting back to my fave vampires:-)

I'm a starting Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard today.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Melanie,

I love Jessica Bird/JR Ward's writings. Granted, her Bird books aren't as edgy, but still great!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish Arch, I finally was able to order Mr. Perfect yesterday. I can't wait to give it a go.
