I think Cooking up a Storm was my least fave EH.. The sex scenes may be hot (although in this book they went a little beyond my comfort zone sometimes, lol), but like you say, no plot:-)
I personally liked EH's historical books more(I think... it's been a while!): Beyond Innocence and Beyond Seduction (the second more than the first)..
Regarding her contemporary erotic romances, it's pretty much mostly sex.. All U Can EatPersonal Assets were hot, a little lacking in emotional depth, but enjoyable nonetheless:-)

@Melanie I've read all those you mentioned, and agree with your assessment. I think her paranormal stories are much better.@Arch I'm glad you trust our recommendations to this extent, after all, your taste might differ.
Last night I couldn't sleep and read a couple of series romances. The first, Fire Of Spring by Elizabeth Lowell from 1986 was not very good, she's gotten a lot better over the years.

Rachel Lee did a good job with Her Hero in Hiding but I didn't agree with the ending. Even those who don't generally like series romance might like this one.

I love Linda's character, John Medina. Plus, I love catcher nerds. So, I'll have to check out Sam. He might be a nerd.
@Arch.. Um "nerd" wouldn't be what I'd call Sam Donovan:-D He's a hoooot police detective who apparently makes the "list", lol:-) Verrrry sexy:-)

I hope Sam is bad. I like it when the hero is a good bad boy. I like when he has a warp sense of humor. He's sarcastic. Sassy.

and really like this one.
I really like the Virgin River Series. I have, but have not read, the last 3. I hear they aren't very good.

Since this is only the second book, I am still reserving judgement on the series as a whole, but so far so good.

Since you already have them, it's certainly worth a shot. #12, in an anthology, is the only one I don't have yet.
Oh, I intend to read them, especially since I have them. Someone not liking them could be burn out, or any number of reasons. Like I said, I really enjoyed them!

.. The ending was a little too quick for my tastes, but I loved the interaction between Caroline and Jered:-)
That was my least favorite book, Melanie, but like you I loved the interaction and that opening carriage/shooting scene was priceless.
Lol wasn't it? And Mr. Harold Smith:-DI was expecting better from Garwood.. I loved Jered, but like I said, the conflict resolution left something to be desired.. I usually like a couple chapters worth of angst and torment where everything comes together ( think Lisa Kleypas, Gaelen Foley, Liz Carlyle,... ) and even if, to me, Garwood's books lack some of that, I usually adore them all, so I was a bit disappointed in this one: not even 10 pages of angst!!:-)
And her thoughts about his fashion? LOL
Just read a couple of 1995 series suspense books by author Suzanne Brockmann repackaged as Nowhere to Run: Not Without Risk / A Man to Die For and they were great. Currently reading Destined for an Early Grave by Jeaniene Frost.
The new video for Frost's next Night Huntress World book, Eternal Kiss of Darkness is out now at her website, I found it fun to watch even if one has not read her books:

I just finished First Drop of Crimson and really liked it. Spade is quite the hero (whew - fans self!) Now I really have to read Halfway to the Grave to find out how all this started.

. It's taking forever because the font is so small that by bed time, when I do most of my reading, my eyes are too tired. I've gone through several short stories on my ereader though.
