I hate "hole".
I also hate it when people say "nanner" instead of "banana".

"Purview" makes me think pervert, just from the sound of it.

I don't like the word puddle.
I LOVE the word nanner. I do NOT love when people eat bananas in public.

Even if I ignored the definition (having an easygoing and pleasing manner especially in social situations

Not quite hating a word but a similar concept- I don't think I could ever own a Volvo, I'd always be afraid I'd say vulva instead-"hi, I brought my vulva to be checked"

I keep trying to think of words I hate, but only think of words I love (like lethargy and pronto and detritus.)
I do know of a phrase I hate with a thousand passions, but if I told, someone would probably start using it around here and I'd have to leave.
I hate the words:
piggy
religious
freelance
ornate
blight
Those are all just based on how they feel in my mouth, though.
I like words that have prefixes and suffixes and and sort of made up. Undebunkable.

I can't remember which word it was that you hate...is it labile? Label? Labial? I think labile was the word you hate, but i can't remember and i'm too lazy to scroll to see what it was. Any case, i'll try not to use the words labile, label, or labial anywhere you're likely to see them.
1 : readily or continually undergoing chemical, physical, or biological change or breakdown : unstable
2 : readily open to change
You might say it's not that big a deal to hate that word because when would I have occasion to hear it. When would someone need to use this word? And WHY? It so clearly sounds like you're referring to someone's genitals. A "labile mineral" should look like this.

My friend is a nurse and this term is apparently used a lot in the medical world to talk about things like blood pressure that's high one minute and low the next. Whatever. So this friend decides to move it into commonplace discussions. Like we're talking about her 1-year-old daughter's mood swings. "She's very labile". EW.
What word do you hate?
