Kristiiina wrote: "Hi, do y'all share books? Or is it a 'you gotta buy it on Amazon' kind of thing?"Some of us share books, Kristiiina, but we don't have a folder set up for requests or for people to post a link to their shelves. You might try a Nook or Kindle group.

Yes, It is the best one I can remember in years.
Would you please delete Lorna Doone, by RD Blackmore, which I posted on the book shelf. It is one of my favourite books, and I wanted to share it, but I have just realized it is not suitable for HEAC. I won't say more as I don't want to spoil it for anyone. Apologies, Carol.
Thanks Lisa. Went up to Gwent in Wales yesterday to get a quick passport. The countryside was beautiful, very green. However, there were hardly any flowers, except for one roadside verge in Newport which had clearly been sprinkled with a packet of wild flower seeds and looked lovely.I believe that most of the flower meadows in the UK were replanted with vegetables during the war, and so are now lost. Seems a shame.
I was only in Newport for the day waiting for my passport, but apart from the wild flower verge, what I noticed is that everyone I met was extremely friendly.

I love visiting nearby restored prairies during the summer months. The sunflowers, goldenrod and gay feathers are starting to bloom now, so they are awash in bright yellow and purple.

I wonder if the sunflowers are the same as the sunflowers here in Europe. Have never heard of gay feathers.
Heather L wrote: "Gayfeather and bee -- this is a short one, some are 1-2 feet tall. "
Gayfeather is lovely; the bee looks rather large.Sunflowers here are about 6 feet tall and not wild.
Daughter and grandchildren arrived from Belgium. Spending most of our time on the beach, pulling along a small plastic boat attached with string, bearing a young child who seems rather afraid of the sea.Keep going up and down on the cliff railway so often, we were given a free ride this morning.
So sad losing two legends within 24 hours of each other, isn't it? I've had the song Key Largo in my head the last couple hours now.
I see from the newspapers that there were probably financial worries. Can't explain why, but somehow that seems to make it all the more sad.
I loved Aladdin and Mrs Doutfire. Definitely grew up watching those movies as a child. It really is sad news.
Went to Exeter airport with daughter and grandchildren this morning to see them off. Six -year-old held up his arms to be searched, and then so did two-year-old very briefly, before laughing and running off. I know it's necessary these days, but it seems a bit sad.
Hi everyone. Staying with son in Connecticut. It's beautiful here. Went kayaking today. It seems both very different to Britain, and at the same time very similar. I always find people very friendly when I travel and the flight here was no exception.
The wooded hills remind me of the Ardennes in Belgium, but the houses are so different. We're by a lake, so it looks very tranquil. Excited to be here. I haven't flown for 46 years, so have been dreading it, but had no problem on the plane at all.
WOW, 46 years with no flying??? It's been only two years for me, but that will change at the end of this week. ;)
Have a fear of heights, but strangely, when you look down from a plane, there is not the same sensation. Also, I have found that as you get older, things no longer seem so anxiety-provoking. I will be taking up hang-gliding next!

So sorry to hear this and you're right -- we dont' hear much about stuff like this. Over the weekend we have heard about troop build-ups along the border again, but nothing about this incident or similar events outside of Rus/Ukr.
