Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) I got a couple from you Brenda!!! Very pretty I might add! I hope those who got mine like them - it was my first time making them!

AngieA Allen (angelwings55) Wow, it has been so fun reading about all the pretty bookmarks! I hope mine come today!

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Nope Brenda, but I did get 2 lovely regular ones from you! And 2 from Jennifer W, 1 from Angela H, 1 from Sheila, 1 from Marsha, 1 from Cindy, 1 that may read Angelalt? (sorry, I'm unsure of the writing) and a very neat corner marker book mark with no name on it!

Thanks so much Chicks! I love them All! (I don't want to discuss specifics until everyone else gets theirs so there's no spoiling the surprises!)

Mine came today! :o)

I got 1 from BMF, 2 from Angela H., 1 from AngieA, 1 from Cindy-AZ, 1 from Debbie, 1 from Marsha, 1 from Nancy, and two I'm not sure who they are from (a green "A chapter a day keeps the doctor away", and a circular one with a Sarah Addison Allen quote.

Thank you everyone! They are all wonderful!

message 155: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W | 2175 comments I got mine today!! They're so nice!! Everyone put so much time into them. I'll get more specific once I get home from work!!

Love them!!!

message 156: by SarahSaysRead (new)

SarahSaysRead Oh they all sound so great! None in my mailbox today, so hopefully tomorrow :o)

Saying they're magnetic doesn't mean we know what they look like so it's still a surprise!

Adrienne (adriennemarietheresa) | 175 comments The magnetic ones are from me. hehe

I had these nice fabric ones planned out, but they failed majorly at the last minute, so I found those to replace 'em.

message 159: by AngieA (new)

AngieA Allen (angelwings55) Adrienne, I had a different idea in mind also, but had to change my plans when my husband's grandmother passed away and we had to leave for the funeral. I mailed them the day I left town. I'll be better prepared next year!

message 160: by Annette (new)

Annette (annette_marie_reads) | 17 comments Thank you so much everyone for the beautiful bookmarks! I got them in the mail on Thursday, and it was a very welcome treat to come home to after a long day! They are all beautiful and I've begun to use many of them :)

Side note--I didn't put my name on mine (completely forgot!) but they are the oval shaped bookmarks.

Nancy AngieA wrote: "...but had to change my plans when my husband's grandmother passed away and we had to leave for the funeral. I mailed them the day I left town..."

My sympathies Angie - it so doesn't matter! I love them all - the personal thought is more precious than materials.

message 162: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne (adriennemarietheresa) | 175 comments Sorry to hear your news, Angie. I'm with ya on plotting for a whole year. Thanks for letting me know I wasn't the only one.

message 163: by SarahSaysRead (new)

SarahSaysRead I got them in the mail today!!!! Thanks to everyone, they are all so beautiful! I can't wait to do this again next year :o)

message 164: by Angela (new)

Angela Holland (bookaunt) I got my bookmarks yesterday. Thank you all I love them all. Thanks again

AngieA Allen (angelwings55) This post has been edited several times as I re-read the previous posts and get info.

I was so sad when mine didn't come Friday and my husband is thinking, "you poor pathetic creature" that he brought them to me at work on Saturday!!! They are all really lovely and unique; I keep looking at them over and over and finding new details. So, since I think everyone must have theirs by now, here is what I got:

from Marsha a knitted Gryffindor book scarf (gold and red, you know) I think I may have to pass this along to my daughter, she is a HUGE HP fan, as am I

Adrienne's lovely magnetic one, it is keeping my place in Devil's Food Cakeright this minute.

Angela H sent "your personal bookworm" with darling stamps of those favored creatures.

Sheila's embellished Dickinson bookmark from Dover. I LOVE DOVER! "Heaven is what I cannot reach!"

Angela H also sent a clever idea: paint chip strips in hues of red with embossed dragonfly and butterly. The paint samples strips are just the perfect size for a book mark.

Debbie shared lovely sunflowers with Willa Cather's books listed. I've only read My Antonia, so will look for the others, now! Debbie must be proud of her Nebraska roots!

Jennifer W: "All things in a single book bound by love." beautifully embellished with ribbon and beads.

Photo and quote from Saving CeeCee Honeycutt on sparkly gold stock from Cindy AZ (one of those details I found after another look!)

The ones without names:

Sarah Allen Addison quote on decoupaged scalloped card. The back is as wonderful as the front!

Purple stock, floral paper and the simple but oh so true "I LOVE BOOKS"

Striking and fun paisley fabrics sewn together with a lovely decorative stitch. From Nancy!

Blue beads and seaside charms strung on red waxed twine ala Rosemary!

Thanks so much to all of you. This has been so much fun; I haven't looked forward to something so much in a long time!!

So sorry for your family's loss Angie.

Marsha (earthmarsha) | 1586 comments Thanks to all you wonderfully creative Chicks -- Rosemary, Nancy, Adrienne, Angela H, Debbie, Sheila, Angie A., Jennifer, Brenda, and Cindy! The only one I haven't been able to figure out who made has a great quote from Oscar Wilde on it, so thanks to you to! To everyone who thought to include CoL and the date on theirs, great idea. I'll remember that for next year.

I think I'll line up all the books I want to read in the next few months and stick a different CoL bookmark in each one so it will be waiting for me when I get to it.

message 168: by Tara (new)

Tara This sounds like a great idea, I wish I would have heard about this group sooner. I would have loved to make bookmarks.

message 169: by Tara (new)

Tara YAY!!! I am looking forward to it. Thanks Brenda. :)

message 170: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W | 2175 comments Aww, thanks so much Brenda! The Gargoyle is easily in my top 5 favorite books. I had so much fun making the book marks!

I got 2 from Angela H, the bookworms and the paint chips. I love the stamps and paint you used for them.

I think I got 2 from Nancy, one fabric and one with red beads, I love the colors.

I got a Harry Potter scarf from Marsha, that must have taken some time. I'll definitely use it when I read books 6 and 7.

I got a magnetic one from Adrienne with a blue bird (state bird of NY!) and the word "Serenity" on it.

I got a scalloped one I believe from Annette. I've never heard of Paris to the Moon, but I'll have to look for it. Love the collage of books on the back, too.

I got an interesting Nebraska reading list that I'll also have to investigate from Debbie.

What a great quote from Saving CeeCee Honeycutt given to me by Cindy.

I, too, loved the different fonts and colors on my bookmark from AngieA quoting Longfellow.

I also enjoyed a little bit of Emily Dickinson's poetry on my bookmark from Sheila.

They're all absolutely amazing!! What fun this was! Thanks so much to Tera for organizing everything! I can't wait to do this again.

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) 2 from Brenda, w/butterfly "stamps" and quotes - so lovely! My favorite shade of purple!

Marsha's Gryffindor Scarf is just Wonderful! I Love it!

Cindy's Saving CeeCee Honeycut bookmark is lovely! (A quote from the book and the cover of the book). I love it! (Especially because we just finished reading the book).

Shelia's is an Emily Dickinson quote, "This is my letter to the world" and I love it!

Angela's, A chapter a day keeps the doctor away, made me smile with the quote and its' sunny yellow color and the Personal Bookworm is Adorable!

Jennifer W's Gargoyle bookmarks are such great colors! Oranges & mauves, reds, blues... The tassels are great!

And one loan book mark w/no name, it's a corner marker that says Beach Read and has lots of tiny flowers in vintage colors all over it.

I love them all!!! And I will smile every time I use one of them!

message 172: by Marsha (new)

Marsha (earthmarsha) | 1586 comments I am so pleased that people like the book scarf. I wasn't at all sure about it, since it was a lot thicker than I'd expected. Use them in big thick books to flatten them out a bit!

Yes, Jennifer, they were a bit time consuming! I thought I'd never get them all done, but I finished them just in time, and used every scrap of yarn.

message 173: by AngieA (new)

AngieA Allen (angelwings55) Thanks to all for your condolances on the death of my husband's grandmother. You are all so kind. She was 96 and very active until the last few months. She taught public school for 40 years and was wonderful at word games like Scrabble, Upwords and Boggle. No one could beat her except my hubby! She will be missed.

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's grandma. It's hard to see them go, I know. I wish you and your husband many happy memories of time you spent together with her.

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Marsha, even my husband thought the Gryffindor Scarf was a great & cute bookmark, lol! (He's a Marine and normally doesn't get or do 'cute'!)

message 176: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Jennifer - I made the pieced fabric bookmarks but can't take credit - Rosemary made those lovely beaded bookmarks.

message 177: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Thanks so much to everyone for the hard work on the bookmarks! They are all just beautiful and made my day!!

message 178: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W | 2175 comments Thanks Nancy for pointing out my mistake so I can give Rosemary due credit. The beads are lovely, and they go nicely with the red book I'm reading.

message 179: by Rosemary (new)

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) The suspense is killing me! Who got mine?! lol

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Yup, my name's on the back of all of them, "Bloomin' Chick Jo."

message 182: by Sheila , Supporting Chick (new)

Sheila | 3485 comments Mod
Jo, that is strange that nobody has mentioned yours, if you put your name on them. Maybe Tera liked them so well she kept them all for herself! :o)

What did yours look like?

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) LOL! Maybe! I did get my self-addressed stamped envelope back so I know my bookmarks Did make it to Tera... :-)

They didn't have tassels, just 'scrap book' layered style (solid color w/a matching print over it w/a picture over that and my info on the back), 4 solid yellow w/the CoL & CoW group photo's, 3 solid purple w/2 different book images and the Louisa May Alcott Orchard House sign and 3 solid red w/an image of books, the Orchard House sign and the Nathaniel Hawthorne's Birth Place sign on them. Each layer/side of the bookmark was "Modge Podge"d to make sure nothing would come off & it gave both sides a clear/shiny finish.

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Hm, I thought we'd get one of each too, I'm not sure how Tera divvied them up & with baby about to arrive any day now, I think she's got other things on her mind, lol! I'd have to go back through the list she posted a bit back indicating who she'd gotten them from & go from there. Running out now but can do that later. I'm thinking more people had to have gotten them & haven't posted here yet that they rec'd them. I know Cindy said she got hers but didn't indicate whose bookmarks she rec'd.

Not everyone got one of everyones. If that made sense? There were 14 chicks that sent in bookmarks and each sent in 10 besides one chick sent in more. I laid them all out and then tried to just move them over one at a time to the next person over. (again if that makes sense). Also some who had really chunky bookmarks like the big beaded ones I couldn't put in peoples envelopes who didn't have some bulk to them ie just a regular envelope for fear their envelope would rip during shipping. I was also trying to be aware of postage issues. Some bookmarks were heavy and some light which is great but some people didn't put any return postage and some put only one or two stamps while others had 2.00 or more of postage. Not that any is wrong or right and I covered those that needed extra postage on theirs but I tried to keep the weight within the postage and bulk allowed by the envelopes sent to me.

I have to admit that I was not able to send Jo's bookmarks. They were beautiful but either the modge podge was not totally dry or they hit some humidity along the way and when I received them they were all stuck together and couldn't be pried apart without ripping and tearing. I knew how hard she had worked on them and knew also that none of you would want her left out of the exchange because of something that was not her fault so I included her in the exchange still without being able to send out her bookmarks.

Hope that makes things more clear.
Tera

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) They were 100% dry so I wonder what happened while being mailed?! (I waited 5 days before sending them to make sure & they didn't stick together in the least! I use Modge Podge all the time for making my note cards & never had a problem like this before or after mailing them - Gah!) I'm So disappointed! Ugh. :~(

At least this clears up the mystery. Thank you for including me in the swap though Tera! Much appreciated.

Everyone I rec'd one from will get one from me in time! As I make new ones, I'll message you for your address & send them off individually.

message 187: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Brenda, I received one of yours and I love, love, love it!
Marsha, Your scarf is just too cute!
Nancy, I loved your pieced bookmark. In fact, I saw some similar to this at a local craft mall and they were selling for like $16!
Debbie, Love your Nebraska theme!
Sheila, Love the Dickinson quote.
Angela H. Love the worms! and the paint swatches...ingenius! I told my daughter we have to go get some and do this!
then I received one that says 'READ' on it and one that says So many books, so little time...and I don't know who they are from.
OH and the one that is shaped like an egg and scalloped around the edge with a Sarah Addison Allen quote on it, one of my favorites but not sure who made it.
Anyway I just love them all and they couldn't have arrived at a better time, just when I needed a smile!

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) (((Love & Hugs))) Cindy!!!

message 189: by Rosemary (new)

Rosemary | 479 comments or maybe Jo's bookmarks got left in a mailbag on a dock in the humidty from the rainy/snowy weather. I'm sad we didn't get to enjoy Jo's bookmarks, too. And for me? I didn't think about how it might be difficult to send beads through the mail. Next time I'll do something less bumpy...or not :).

Tera, thanks for everything and good luck with the baby!

Brenda wrote: "Jo, I am wondering if the mail service put them through a machine and the heat just welded them together. total bummer.
"

Rosemary, that's entirely possible but the cold weather shouldn't have affected them like that, however, Brenda, I thought of your possibility after posting the above and called my cousin who works for the post office in a sorting unit and he said it was possible that the machine could have heated them up to the point where they would stick together if it was sent through mid to late shift (the machines are turned off at the end of each shift to cool for the next). That seems to be the most likely explanation!

Jennifer W | 2175 comments That's too bad, Jo, I'm sure they were beautiful.

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Thanks Jennifer! I'm So Disappointed but like I said earlier, at least this clears up the mystery!

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Thank you Debbie, I did! :~(

Thank you Brenda! We're hoping within a week the water will stop coming in through the back wall from the ground and then we can finally begin to dry out!

Hhhmmm... Where will I be in the next few days...? In my gardens?! Sure, you can take a wild guess, lol!

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) Exactly! I started out already this morning re-arranging the pots on our front porch, lol! I was just so happy it wasn't raining, I had to get out there, even before breakfast!

Bloomin’Chick (Jo) aka The Eclectic Spoonie (bloominchick) That's so nice of you Brenda! I've got lots of Pansy's to put into 2 of my planters out front.
