Ya really, I though that it would be more the ideas in the book that they would want to ban it for. Well it wasn't banned at my school we had to read it.

I am currently reading 'Handle With Care' by Jodi Picoult. I haven't gotten too far into it yet, but I really enjoy it so far because of Picoult's style of alternating between character viewpoints. It really allows you to connect with the individual characters. Next, I plan on reading 'The Brothers Karamazov' by Dostoevsky, and am excited to do so. :)
F451 was also considered questionable because there is a scence in which the Bible is burned. I guess the people banning it didn't get the point that the book was saying it's bad to burn the Bible (or anything else).
i am reading oscar wilde discovers america. it is interesting, but not quite what i expected. it is told from william traquair's perspective. he is the valet for wilde on his lectures through america. there is much witty banter, but the development of the relationship between wilde and traquair is falling a bit flat and i am half way through the book. we'll see if it gets better.
I just started The Count of Monte Cristo. I was a little intimidated by its size but decided I had heard so many good things about it that book, I am going to read it anyway.
I'm currently in the middle of Beautiful Creatures. I really like how different it is, at least so far.
Oh I totally loved Beautiful Creatures. Some people complain that it's unrealistic view of a sixteen year old guy but do we really always want to read about horny guys? I don't so what's so far-fetched that there could be a like this? Anywho I loved it. I'll post my review on it. I kind of don't want to because I don't want to push people into reading a book but I REALLY enjoyed this one. Ok going to review thread...
Ok... Time for me to get off of here. I'm going to go and jump into the book and see if I can get closer to the end. Night all, for now.
I'm reading
Lolita
,
Pride and Prejudice
, and an absolutely handsome new edition of Jorge Luis Borges'
Collected Fictions
which I found yesterday on a most serendipitous trip to the bookstore :)

I'm reading Wondrous Strange
I am reading several books right now (God bless the Kindle), but the main one is Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke. Some have called it an adult version of Harry Potter, but I would warn people that it is not! The only things it has in common with HP are the existence of Magic and the fact that it takes place in England. It is 800+ pages, which is why it is taking me an eternity to finish, the writing is long and drawn out (many would say boring), and every chapter ends with several footnotes, some of which continue for many pages. Those things said, I absolutely love this book so far. The writing is very much like Jane Austen, and the characters are hilarious. It's not a page-turner, so to speak, but I hate putting it down. I recommend it to anyone who has an appreciation for slow-building, long-winded books peopled with silly old men and magicians.

I haven't finished it yet, but it is excellent.
I'm reading Bug Jack Barron by Norman Spinrad. Good so far. I think I'll read Crash by JG Ballard next.
As usual, I'm reading a stack of books including Reading Jesus, A Bear Called Paddington, and The Spare Room. I have a blog at readerbuzz.blogspot.com and I love to have people come by and leave comments.
I've been pretty busy the last two days - I finished Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris and then finished Shades of Midnight by Lara Adrian. Both were excelent books. I started Witch and Wizard by James Patterson this morning.

I am reading Atlantis Rising by Alyssa Day and OMG it is sooooooo good. I couldn't put it down and read from 10:00 p.m. til 6:30 a.m. Of course I had to sleep half the day afterwards, but it was so worth it. I have about 80 pages left to read and plan to tackle that today.Happy reading everyone
I gave up Jen Lancaster. I just couldn't get interested in her book and really don't want to. I am reading The High Calling.
I am still reading The Screwtape Letters and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. I am also listening to The Count of Monte Cristo.
I finished Under the Dome by Stephen King last night, and started The Beet Queen by Louise Erdrich tonight. Under the Dome was good - not my favorite King novel, but addictive nonetheless. I'm really enjoying The Beet Queen so far. I haven't read Erdrich since I read Love Medicine in college.
I'm reading A Walk To Remember, The Choice(Nicholas Sparks), and HamishX& The Cheese Pirates. After, I want to read The Last Song, and maybe Wuthering Heights. =]
I will be starting
by Zora Neale Hurston tonight. I have a response paper due on this book at noon on Monday.

I'm currently reading "Passing" by Nella Larsen... a book I have to read for my Human Development course. Once my quarter is over, I can get back to my original reading agenda.
I'm reading Strong Poison. It's the prequel to the book I had to read for school (Gaudy Night) and my friend lent it to me.
