Tya | 846 comments No prob!

Has anyone read Kurt Cobain Montage of Heck by Brett Morgen ? Or watched the doc of the same name? I want to see Soaked in Bleach but...ok, this is completely a me thing---but I've always wanted Jared Leto to play Kurt Cobain in a movie. Like---I just really do. Especially since Jared made that love letter video to Kurt a handful of years ago and he dressed up like Cobain and my head exploded? So, Even though I want to see Soaked in Bleach I'm kind of disappointed because you know---who is this kid they've got playin' Cobain? Sure, ok, Jared Leto is almost twice Kurts age--but he's still ridiculously hot and I'd be willing to over look it.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I've been reading a Fan fiction based off of a Fan Fiction based off of a book. It's called 50 Shades of Drake. Yes, Drake. Oh and more Fan Fiction... Don't judge me. lol

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments ROFL Chakara. I really only ever read Buffy fanfiction, except one of Harry Potter and the stupid Fifty Shades that was originally posted online (I didn't get very far). But I used to LOVE Buffy/Spike fanfic lol. It's funny I haven't thought of it in ages but last night I had a dream about Spike, ha! Too bad he wasn't shirtless...

Lmao, I had to be maybe 10 when Buffy was on air and really popular so Spike was a bit scary but that Angel. :).

I tend to forget fan fiction exists and then a friend will recommend one and it will start all over again.

Tya | 846 comments Oh my goodness y'all. I love fanfiction. I've read in my day Harry Potter, Veronica Mars, Spuffy and I read Pride and Prejudice fanfiction just about everyday. If you ever see that I haven't posted anything on goodreads in awhile its because I've gone down the ff rabbit hole.

I know about that Rabbit hole I have just returned.Everything looks strange right now. I'm still adjusting to the real world again lol.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Know worries. I check out fanfic too. Some of it is shockingly good!

Tya | 846 comments I'm on a Jennifer Armentrout binge right now. I finished up the Lux series and I've started the Titans series and I have the Dark Elements series checked out. But, I have less than zero desire to read the Covenants series. I think I checked the first one out from the library a couple of years ago and got nowhere with it. Then, after I fell in love with Lux I checked it out again and I think I made it half way through and I put it down somewhere and have no idea what I did with it.
(view spoiler)
Sorry Chakara!

Spoilers galore for anyone wanting to read either The Covenant series or the Titans or both.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments It was hard for me to get into the first Cov book as well but they just got better and better however I didn't really are for the Katie and Damon books and didn't finish them. So we may have different versions of what a good book is (which is okay of course :) )
Seth was my fav part of the Cov series though but if I came into contact with the Titans and read it before Cov I would be highly pissed because it ruins a 5 book series in only a short amount of time. Aint nobody got time for that lol.

message 1863: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I read The Gathering which was an okay read I'm not understanding how it can be a complete story in only two more books. Also extremely predictable but I find that to be true when authors who usually write adult try to cross over. Her first series like this also had similar issues.

message 1864: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments I was really looking forward to reading The Isle of the Lost (Descendants, #1) by Melissa de la Cruz but, there were a million people ahead of me on hold at the library so I decided to do the audiobook option instead. Such a mistake! Disney turned the book into a DCOM earlier this year and it was ok. There was one actress who looks like she got the part because she looks the part but she is a terrible actress. She's the one reading the book. She has the most awkward line readings I've heard. She's reading the whole thing is this baby vamp, whispery voice and she stops in the weirdest places. The sentence could be something like: "She checked out the latest Melissa De La Cruz novel" and she would read it like: whisper, whisper, whisper the LATest meLISSa de LA CRUZ nov-whisper, sexy pout and tears" I hung in there until the first couple of chapters were up to see if maybe that was going to be her choice for a certain character or something. But, no, thats the way it was. Terrible.

I hate it when a narrator ruins a book!

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Oh, I'm so nervous about that book now. I was really pumped for it, but the DCOM killed it. Killed it. And then they previewed the audio on the radio! It is horrible Tya. Horrible.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I just finished Magic Rises and have started listening to On Basilisk Station and The Maze Runner as well as Leviathan Wakes. Thinking about reading something like Sylvia Day, Meredith Wild or Maya Banks. Those books look like fun and sound like fan fiction so I'm in.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments Okay so update started Maya Banks Mastered its so horrible makes me want to cry. I didn't think anyone could be dumber and more naive than Ana Steele, I didn't think anyone could be such a ass and a crazy man like Chrisitan Gray until I found Evangeline and Drake. WHAT. THE.FUCK.

Edit: i stayed up all night trying to see if it got better it didn't . So because I've put so much time into it I will finish the last 40 precent of the book and then get my refund. this is crap. I've heard such wonderful things about Maya Banks.

Yeah, you can't start with her newer stuff, it's not the best. Her KGI is good, the exception being the last book. They are more RS. I also liked her Sweet series, those ones are more erotic with BDSM and at times ménage. Her Scottish historical romances are good, but with the second series she has left us hanging on the 3rd book.

i just don't understand how a Woman can write this kind of bull cocky. I'll check out one of her older books that you mentioned from the library...at some point after I get over this . I'll recommend this book to those who say things can't get any more disappointing than fifty shades of grey.

honestly this book is written terribly as if she published a fanfic by a first time writer thats 16 years old and doesn't really understand grown up relationships. I wonder if its possible because she's become so popular that she isn't doing her own writing any longer? maybe using a work for hire or ghost writer? OR she just doesn't give a shit as long as the checks keep rolling in ( and they will because of her name) she'll just throw a book together whether it makes any sense or not.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I just read Fighting Destiny and Taunting Destiny. I liked the main character however I'm not sure exactly how the author writes if she is a pantser etc. the reason is because she often says things exactly the same way a few pages later or from book to book ( I think she thinks its clever but its not to the reader) also the reader tends to find out the so called surprises way in advanced of the characters as they are often hidden in plain sight and with the ebooks coming in at about 400 pages for each book you spend a lot of time waiting for the characters to catch up.
in the first book she did random character pos switches which through me out of the story she did switch characters in the second one however it was a bit smoother transition than with the first one.
She is self published so i still gave the books a good rating as I feel like with the right editor a lot of this can be fixed.

I finally got around to reading this one and didn't think it was that bad. Not sure if it was because I went in with super low or no expectations. I liked Evangeline, liked how she charmed the guys. Didn't care for how Drake treated her, especially at the end. He should have called one of the guys to do damage control.

Also, Evangeline's friends are bitches!

I think part of her dropping her friends was getting past the hurt of Stephanie. They all were for her going out to the club and getting her to believe in herself, yet when she attracted the attention of a "big fish" they were concerned (rightly so) and a bit jealous too. Stephanie's words were just said to hurt her because she knew her soft spots and they hit that. A friend wouldn't do that.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments All righty read all of these: First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones For I Have Sinned (Charley Davidson, #1.5) by Darynda Jones Opening Up (Ink & Chrome, #1) by Lauren Dane Grave Witch (Alex Craft, #1) by Kalayna Price Justice Calling (The Twenty-Sided Sorceress, #1) by Annie Bellet

Opening up didn't work out, but the others worked out really good for me!

Now reading Shadow Sight (Ivy Granger, #1) by E.J. Stevens . It's OK. So far. I think I've been reading too much!! Ha! So I'm gonna junk out on some shows I need to catch up on and then come back to it in the morning.

message 1897: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments I know this place is a ghost town but I have to get this off my chest.

I just read The Shape of My Heart (2B Trilogy #3) by Ann Aguirre and was determined to love it because all of the books in the series are Backstreet Boy song titles and I love the boys. This book was terrible. Not a single likeable character to be found anywhere. The main character stomps around telling any and everyone who will listen that men opening doors for women is degrading. Men who pay for dinner is degrading. Men who do anything at all is degrading. Until it happens to her. And then its just romantic. Its like--she's a hardcore feminist. Until she falls for a guy. The whole thing rubbed me the wrong way. Its like the author was saying feminist are just women who need some romance. I'm pretty sure thats a wrong and rude judgement.

And. Eligible. I'm listening to it because I love Pride and Prejudice. But. Ok. I hate Liz. Liz is a wench. I don't like books with adultery to begin with and Liz is in a 2 year long affair with Wickham (he's married but his wife is cool with it. Or something) and even before that Liz is just mean and judgmental and thinks she's better than everyone and awful. When she *finally* meets Darcy they are at a bbq and she asks if the seat next to him is free and he says no. She doesn't know him. Maybe he's saving it for someone. Maybe he doesn't like sitting next to people he doesn't know. Maybe he thinks she's out to hit on him because she passes up dozens of empty seats to come and sit next to him and he's not interested in being hit on. So. Many. Maybes. The maybe I did not jump to was that he's obviously a snobby jerk. Which is the one she settles on after not even being introduced to him. Why? Why am I reading this? I hate everyone.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I liked the Ann Aguire.

Tya | 846 comments I keep looking for the other titles in the series (because, Backstreet Boy titles. Gotta support m'boys) but I'm never too disappointed when I don't find them.

Are the other books written with the same kind of characters? I know that they are all friends, but I'm hoping that if I do stumble upon the other books I would find one of them ok. I just, really, really disliked everyone in this book.

message 1900: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments The series is about 3 friends, a new couple each book. I didn't care for the 1st one all that much, but like the 2nd and third. I'm thinking that if you didn't like this one you would probably be ok skipping the rest.

If you want to read more by this author give her Sirantha Jax series a try. Those are really good and the series is done, so you don't have to wait for more.
