I'm always waiting for her to finally tell her off for real and that boyfriend of hers to but she doesn't want to be alone so it seems she's willing to put up with anything.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments I'm on the second book to the Heller series, the first one is free everywhere, Heller (Heller, #1) by J.D. Nixon . If you like the Stephanie Plum series you would like these.

You know, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who doesn't like the guy. Even the author makes me feel guilty for not liking him.

Rachel Unsworth (rachelx1f618x1f48b) | 78 comments I've just been given an Arc for melinda Leigh's new book and I'm only on page 5 and I can tell already it's going to be good! I'm really excited! :) xx

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments That's great! Enjoy!!

Tya | 846 comments I just finished Carrier of the Mark (Carrier, #1) by Leigh Fallon and it is an absolute and total rip off of Twilight. With a few elements of Vampire Diaries (tv show) mixed in. I gave it two stars because I liked the first Twilight book. It was equal parts hilarious and super awkward. I kept flipping to the dedication to see if Stephenie Meyer was mentioned.

Bummer! This was one I was really looking forward to.

Tya | 846 comments Well...Shera...the last 5 chapters are slightly different? It still reads like Bella and Edward but in a slightly different situation?

You're missin' nothin. I'd just move on to the next in the ol' TBR pile.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments I loath Twilight . . .

Finished up The Beautiful Ashes. Boring. Boring. I can't believe Frost wrote it.

The Beautiful Ashes (Broken Destiny, #1) by Jeaniene Frost

Tya | 846 comments I think that I need to just...stop reading for awhile. I don't think that will actually happen but maybe I would enjoy the books I read more if I just took a break. I accidentally re-read the book Happily Ever After (Deep Haven #1) by Susan May Warren over the weekend. The first time I read it, I liked it well enough. Cheesy happily ever after romance. This time, it completely annoyed me. I'll spoiler tag in case anyone else has the occassional urge to read cheesy christian romance (view spoiler)
Super annoying.

While I haven't read that book, things like that annoy me. Why would you trust this new person and not the one that has been around you all the time. Arggggg!

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Holy bookworm turds. +_+

I just finished Tess of the d'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy . For some reason I thought it would have a happy ending. Or some joyfuly moment. Or that she would say *bleep* men and swear them off.

It killed my mojo. Thank goodness I was reading Outlander at the same time, it kept me going.

Next time I'll stick to Austin.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I just read Destined for an Early Grave and by now I think we all know how I feel about this series. 3 stars! I was trying to be nice.

yes I think a lot of people love love love the main characters but over the years I have learned I don't like romance driven books. I like a lil romance but not so much where it doesn't make any sense (imo)however I will finish the series and I hope to love it in the end but I wont be surprised it i don't

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments To be honest I tried reading book 2 but I put it down, I have to go back and give it a redo.

Tya | 846 comments In a Fix (In a Fix, #1) by Linda Grimes Has anyone ever read this? I liked it a lot. The sequel is real cute so far, as well. What I don't like, and this is shallow, is THE COVER MODEL! The main character is described as being short and pale with short(ish) curly/wavy blond hair. The cover model is of average height with red hair. And they use the same cover model for the sequel. Its to the point that I just ignore the authors description and envision the cover model. She's purty.

message 1820: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 2770 comments That is funny about the cover model. If I was the author I would be pissed though.

I tried to read the book, but it ended up in the dnf pile for me.

message 1821: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments I can see how that could happen--not finishing it. She's walking a very fine line between quirky and annoying and the entire series is built around a love triangle. And in the first book, the plot (nu-age vikings) was pretty ridiculous but, I really did like it. The plot of the second one was even more ridiculous--but I do like the characters.

Right now I'm reading the last (?!) book in the Heroes of Olympus series. I'm only 8 chapters in but I've skimmed chapter headings and I can't believe that the series is ending without Percy and Annabeth's POV. I've read some reviews and it looks like they are still going to be a pretty strong presence in the book but from other people's POV. I know that Percy isn't the main character of this series but, for me anyway, he kinda sorta definitely is. The only reason I picked the series up was because I thought it was a continuation of Percy's story so to find out that the ending isn't his...is a let down. Especially since it seems like its going to be really Jason heavy and it seems to me that since book one Jason has been held up as being a better/bigger hero/person than Percy we just didn't get to hear his story so to end this long winded rant it really burns my buttos that the series is ending with Jason and not Percy. Like Jason has won this hero contest that I put them in.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments finished The Gray Wolf Throne and 80 percent into the The Crimson Crown

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Just finished Endless Knight (The Arcana Chronicles, #2) by Kresley Cole a few hours ago. My body still has tremors from the pleasure. Sooooo good! That's the most fun I've had writing a review in ages!

It's so hard to resist the urge to pick up Dead of Winter! But I'm hanging on to my resolution, next up adult title! Then the coveted Dead of Winter.

Is anyone else reading this series? I noticed we didn't havea thread for it.

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments So I just read:
Saga, Volume 3 loved it
Club Dead hated it
The Spiritglass Charade love love love loved it.

And one more I can't think of right now.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Then I wouldn't check out her Immortals After Dark series.

Hmmm, how are you liking Saga? I've been thinking about picking it up.

its good a lil graphic certainly rated mature.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments I'm fine on the rated mature part. I've read some questionable graphic/manga in my day.

Finally finished all of the Walker Papers and Love at Stake. It was weird to read 2 series finale's back to back. Although, Walker Papers ends a lot better.

Well, after the first few they got kind of blah. You read them because they were fun, not because they were good. I did really enjoy the first few though. Vana was great.

For sure, it seemed like the later ones tried to be more series, but I liked that they were light hearted.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments Man, I'm still frozen mid read of book 3 for the Walker Papers. Trying sooooo hard to get enough motivation to get to book 4.

It has those moments where everything is happening in her "mind." Or, mentally. Once you get past that it gets a little easier. I find its one of those series that's easier if you try to read straight through. Once you put it down its harder to pick up. I still need to finish No Dominion.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 2445 comments The part where she's in her "mind" doesn't bother me. It's actually the lead that pisses me off, it doesn't help that the book is stupid and I already know how it's all going to wrap up.

Tya | 846 comments I just read Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix it was soo awesome! Good and creepy and suspenseful. It left at the perfect place--but with me wanting more. I'd be happy if there isn't a sequel. But I'd be happier if there is one, you know what I mean?

Tya | 846 comments Is anyone reading the Veronica Mars books? The second one came out this past Tuesday. I'm in a love hate relationship. Love because, obviously, Veronica Mars but I'm half way through it and there have been a grand total of 3 Logan scenes (so much for the big promise that there would be more Logan in this one) and Wallace just came on the scene at the half way point. I love Mac and Keith Mars as much as the next...but I love Logan and Wallace as well. And seriously. Veronica decided to be with LOGAN this calling Logan "Not Piz" business? Not. Cool.

I read the first one, got the audio book, loved that Kristen Bell narrated, but the second book doesn't, which makes me mad. I won't get to listen to it for a week or so, have some others to get to first.

message 1839: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I'm trying to watch the show and the movie before starting the books I don't want to be spoiled for everything. I'm in the middle of the second season.

message 1840: by Tya (new)

Tya | 846 comments So, I'm listening to the Morrigan's Cross (Circle Trilogy, #1) by Nora Roberts Firstly, the narrator is awesome seriously. So good. I'm enjoying the book so far, but, (and this IS being addressed within the story) but, I HATE Hoyt and Cians relationship. I think that Cian is such an ass to Hoyt and it seems like everyone in the series is bending over backwards to kiss Cian's patooty and everyone is convinced he's sooooo great. Not. True. He's a jerk! I hate that Cian seems to have/want to have a better relationship with King than with his own brother--who he had been fairly close with once upon a time. Thankfully Glenna is trying to talk to Hoyt about it (and if she doesn't try to pony up a discussion with Cian I'll be m-a-d. )so, its being addressed. So. I could stop with the whining. So.

Tya | 846 comments Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits, #1) by Katie McGarry And it was one of those books that made me say, "I'll just read one more chapter before I go to sleep..." and then its time to go to work and I'm still in last nights clothes. I did not expect to like it as much as I did.

Here's where I'm weird. The next one is centered around a gal named Beth. Way back when I was a young'n I had an infatuation on a boy who married a Beth. Ever since then...its not been a name I like. I kind of don't want to read the book because of the Beth. Didn't help that we met her in Pushing the Limits and she's kind of the worst.

Oh, and I read Lois Lane Fallout (Lois Lane, #1) by Gwenda Bond and I am ALL IN with this series for the rest of forever. That is all.

Never heard of the second one I will check it out. Pushing the Limits was pretty good.

Tya | 846 comments I skipped the Beth book. But, I FLOVED Crash Into You (view spoiler) here is my problem. I have zero interest, less than zero interest actually in Wests story. He treated his sister and her VOMITING UP BLOOD like crap. Sit and spin, buddy. No happy ending for you. But, the book after that Chasing Impossible canNOT be found any-freaking-where. Its not on amazon or barnes and noble. On her website it says that the book can only be ordered when you pre-order her new book Nowhere but Here and even if I wanted to buy that book (and I don't know, I'm not really in to motorcycle gangs) the deal is over. All of the purchase links on the goodreads page for the book are dead. The book was just published on July 1 and every link on her site pertaining to this book all lead to the ended Nowhere But Here page. Waaaaah!

AND of course my library doesn't have the newest kate daniels book available for requesting. Typically they'll at least have it listed in the system under on order or something so that when the book is published we'll have our names on it. Not this time.

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I didn't know there was a second Veronica Mars book. I liked the first but wished there was more LoVe.

I am so behind and I need a really good series to read. I miss a good epic fantasy. I am still stuck just over half way on Outlander series book 2. It is SOOOOO boring. I recently finished End of Days (Penryn and the End of Days, #3) by Susan Ee and The Ruby Circle (Bloodlines, #6) by Richelle Mead . They were OK, not amazing or anything.

I saw somebody was reading the The Clockwork Scarab (Stoker & Holmes, #1) by Colleen Gleason series. I didn't realize she had another series and I liked the Gardella series. I will check this one out. :)

I liked the Stoker & Holmes series but I'd be interested to hear what you think of it if you read it. I haven't read her adult books though. I can't wait until the third book comes out.

I really didn't like The Ruby Circle I think I was just spent out with these characters and this series especially after that crappy movie.

I never finished Season 3 of Veronica Mars but I would like to just so I can get to the books.

message 1848: by Whitney (new)

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 1272 comments I recently read Rebel Spring it was way to hyped up for what it is. However I think its a light listen (The narrator in the audio is really good) So I will probably end up listening to the 3rd one even though I gave the 2nd 2-3 stars.

I also read A Court of Thorns and Roses it was also a good quick read even though there are plot and character problems etc. There is a love triangle. Ha just when we thought YA was leaving that behind SIKE.

message 1849: by Carrie (Care) (new)

Carrie (Care) (care76) | 1746 comments I honestly got about a paragraph into it Chakara and I just couldn't focus so I went on to This is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith and I am loving the lightness of this YA. I didn't realize Colleen Gleason's other series was YA. I will try it again soon.

Tya | 846 comments That one was adorable Carrie. If you liked that one you should try Hung Up by Kristen Tracy The whole thing is in dialog format. Lucy is trying to have a trophy made but the company that she's given her money to is bogus and the number they used is Lucas'. After getting so many phone calls from Lucy James decides to give her a call--many phone calls later love ensues....
