Water for Elephants

The Help
Wake
God Bless You, Dr. Kevorkian...so far, at least

I have been "afraid" to read these two...I found out that the author had plans for a total of 10 books, but died before he could write book four. I have heard great things about them, but I am afraid of getting "addicted" and will never know the end.

The Help was awesome! I haven't read any of the others..yet!!

Gone with the Wind

It's amazing!!! It's for this months reading game.

Saving CeeCee Honeycutt by Beth Hoffman

Btw, Wolf Hall won some presitigous award today. National Book Critics' Circle Award for Fiction 2010!

I totally agree LizH!! Awesome book!!

and
Kristie, Haven't read "Sarah's Key" yet either. Glad that you enjoyed it so much!

[book:The Housekeeper and the Prof..."
The Housekeeper and The Professor was one of my favorite books last year.

But close behind are The Last Song and The Time Traveler's Wife. All three were really really great books.
I read The Help last year and loved it!!!

I loved that book! I encouraged my husband to read it and he loved it, too.
If you like that sort of "underbelly of Victorian London" type book, may I recommendFingersmith, by Sarah Waters.

That is such a great book. I read it ages ago, but definitely remember enjoying reading it. You are spot on with your description of the book!

I have read Fingersmith and Tipping the Velvet a year or so ago and I really loved them. They were both adapted for TV too and I although the books are undoubtedly superior, I thought they did a pretty good job of filming them. I've got another of Sarah Waters on my to read list, it's The Night Watch, I'm looking forward to reading it soon though it set in at different historical era(post world war I think?!)

ME TOO!!!!

I really liked Shanghai Girls, though I would have been disappointed in the ending if she hadn't confirmed that she was working on a sequel!

I totally agree - Shanghai Girls disappointed me as well. But I loved Peony in Love - just finished it last night - it is a departure from a typical "chinese lit" type of book like Snow Flower. Peony in Love is very mystical and magical, like Amy Tan's "Saving Fish from Drowning."

1) The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
2) Land of a Hundred Wonders by Lesley Kagan

It's a lot like Jane Austen's novels, but the characters are a little more complex and intriguing.

Wolf Hall and Cutting for Stone are also hot contenders for my Top Ten of '10 list!
Mary, I'm glad to see you enjoyed The Road. I know it is one of those books that people usually either love or hate, and I am one of the ones that loved it too. Have to admit I'm a fan of post apocalyptic fiction in general, but I really loved the relationship between the father and son in this one. Very moving.
