Yeah, I try to avoid anything that is not dishes, trash, the baby's or mine. I ain't sittin in the back of the van till that gets cleaned. I usually ride shotgun or drive, so the mess in the back isn't mine.

No poetry for me. I can't write poetry and there is very little that I like reading...

I tired in middle school. It all sucked. The only good one was for Christmas in Illinois and I can no longer find it. It was for school, too, so it's not like I wanted to write it.

Hmm ... pretty much all my NPCs fall under "evil," "jerk," or, "neutral businessman" categories. Perhaps I should put in some sort of paladin or helpless victim to save.

I’ve played D&D once, but it was many years ago. A group of people got together at a friend’s house, and they were experienced players. My character was a magic user (or something like that). I named him Spades. I later wrote a story loosely based on what happened to Spades that night in the game, and the dungeonmaster told me it was the only one he had ever read that was told from the point of view of a character.

I want to write something on our crazy games when Tim, Bob and Jon were here. I remember the basics of what happened and quite a bit of the dialogue, just have to actually write it now. XD

You make a character, the character has stats, you combine those stats with dice rolls to do damage. Apart from that, it's all making choices for your character, while the DM (which is my role in the game I'm playing tonight and every Saturday for the foreseeable future) explains what the situation is and what consequences emerge from character decisions. It like an adventure video game, but without predetermined code so the adventure can litterally head anywhere.

Which makes the DM's job very exhausting some times.

Your stats aren't just for combat either; you use your character sheet to do difficult actions like wheedle truths from a lying captive, leap a chasm, climb up cliffsides, out con a politician, find food in the wilderness, and make a deal with a dragon you know you can't beat in a fight. Or anything else the DM throws at you.

M, you probably played a different version than the one we're doing. We're on edition 4, which is possibly the most simplied version of D&D.

Speaking of which, they're looking for suggestions on 5th edition. Perhaps I should mention bringing back subclasses. Simplifying is fine, but really a swindler rogue is very different from a burgular rogue and both are different from an assassin.

Ah, no one else really plays. I guess we should discuss something else then ... Coffee?

Cool. I made my filling from scratch. Organic strawberries, water, coconut crystals and xanthum gum. :D Much less sweet than a pre-made mix.

I just had to say that because it's unusual. The first snowfall of the season in Hampton Roads, it'll snow in every other city-Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Hampton, Newport News, Suffolk and even Elizabeth City, but in Norfolk it'll usually rain. I didn't think it would get cold enough to snow in Norfolk last night, the way the previous nights had been. It had even started raining before it turned to snow. It was pretty awesome to watch. XD

I hate the cold, too, but I'd rather move north. I like the snow, but hate the humidity of the South. It makes it feel colder than it is. XP

I like all weather and most climates. The climate I dislike is southern California, which is seasonless; always cloudy and never raining. It's very depressing after six years.

I have a mix of Southern, Northern and British. Southern from my parents, northern from living in Cali and Illinois and British from watching the telly. XD

I have my British accent down pat. People actually think I'm from England. I guess I don't really have an accent, per se. I suppose it's Idaho-an?

Oydahuh-o? (I can’t spell a British pronunciation of that.)

I can do a pretty good Scottish accent, too. Learning some Gaelic helped with that. :D

I used to have a Southern accent, but when I was in high school I changed the way I talked. Last year, I called Jan, who lives in Australia. One of the first things she said was that I didn’t sound like someone from Texas.

I had a terrible accent. I became aware of it when I heard myself on a tape recorder. It took me months of persistent effort to change it.

Our friend Kaitlin has a Northern accent in the South and a Southern accent in the North. XD

It's easy to get a west coast accent; just watch television. Unless the character has a specific accent, everyone on television talks with a Califonian accent.

My accent has a Californian base, but with random accents thrown in. It depends on what I'm sayin', really. I prefer my more Southern accent.

This is going to sound weird, but Rugrats is an awesome show. It's funny and doesn't make me wince like every other kids' show.

We put it on for my li'le brother.

My older siblings and I used to love that show. I totally agree with you. It's a great show. When we were really little and would play, if I remember correctly, my mom said we used to fight over who got to be Tommy. I believe my older brother always won that argument. At least, that's what I always remember.
