Welcome Caroline!!

Kristi (kristicasey) Welcome Caroline! I still have a hard time buying a romance if it has a picture similiar to the ones they used to be on all of them.

Why? Idk, bc Romance is the largest, most popular genre out there. Go figure.

LOL! I know what you mean. Just look at this one Tiger Lily by Shirlee Busbee .

message 155: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicasey) Exactly! Not only bc of the C/O line, but I have kids.

Kids don't want their parents showing...sexuality. It embarrasses them. They see these covers? It makes everyone uncomfortable.

Don't misunderstand. We talk very openly with our kids about sex, we're just respectful of their desire to ignore the fact that we (the parents) obviously partake of it ourselves. Ha ha!

Hi Annie! Welcome. Having come from Upstate NY myself, let's clarify. Ha ha.

That poor state is divided into so many sections. Southern Tier, the City (of course), Upstate & Northern. I'm sure there's more, but those are the ones I know.

I've actually lived in Upstate and Northern. You?

Don't forget Central NY. I like to think I'm in Upstate NY myself, but I get so confused.

message 163: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicasey) Yep Central too. Ha ha! Do you know, are there other states as divided as NY?

I would imagine so, but then again, I'm a little embarrassed to admit us NY'ers can be a bit...eccentric and a touch...full of ourselves. :O

message 164: by Annie (new)

Annie (annjordan) | 3 comments Well I actually live in Central NY (Utica)or it could be called the Mohawk Valley. There are 5 names (Upstate, Central, Mohawk Valley and foothills of the Adirondack Mountains or Gateway to the Adirondacks) for my region. I usually just say Upstate.

message 165: by Megan (new)

Yeah we did too. I originally lived in the Rochester area. My husband is military, so after living elsewhere for 10 years we got stationed at Ft Drum. I kept saying Upstate. Then I kept seeing and hearing NNY. I thought "What?".

Yep, Northern NY. Of course when you live less than 15 miles from the Canadian border I guess that's pretty Northern.

But I've taken away from your introduction. Sorry! Welcome to the group! I'm also glad to have another NY'er here.

I've decided that I'm in the upper region of central NY, LOL! Either way, I've had it with all the snow and ice!

message 168: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicasey) Ha ha! Good answer!

I understand about the snow. That was a huge reason why I was glad to leave. I didn't mind it so much as a kid living there, but when I moved back as an adult? Ugh! No thank you!

It's much more fun to play in than to shovel and drive in.

Annie (annjordan) | 3 comments Michelle & Kristi - Never mind spring. I just want it to be Summer!!!!!!!!!!

I agree- I never minded the weather when I was a kid. Now want to move South or to Arizona.

Ooooh Annie, South is nice. The only problem is that if there ever is bad weather you have to be careful. The drivers...ugh. Southerners don't know how, and Northerners think it's not that bad. Overall, you get really slow mixed with way too fast all at once.

Michelle (michellelisa) | 17 comments Well i have just dicovered Karen Ranney although she has several books out.The one i am currently reading is After the Kiss (Avon Romantic Treasures.) by Karen Ranney .Pretty steamy but i love it and i am only half way through.Going to do a night shift so i'll have it finished before i get off.Don't want to give too much away but an earl falls for a widow even though he's fallen on hard times financially and has to marry an heiress. She(the widow)has a little secret of her own!No i am not going to tell you! You have to read the book to find out!lol!Heck i still don't know how it ends!

I'm glad you are enjoying After the Kiss, that is actually one I read and didn't like. Loved the first half and hated the second. Didn't like how the hero treated the heroine (IMHO). I hope you like the second half more than I did! I highly recommend Tapestry to everyone.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Thanks, new Michelle, for letting us know about Ms. Ranney.

Thanks, Megan, for your 2¢ worth. LOL! Just kidding. I'm sorry; I shouldn't tease you while you're not 100%. I did marked Tapestry by Karen Ranney as a TBR. BTW, got you rec, Taming the Wolf (de Burgh, #1) by Deborah Simmons , in the mail today. Dying to read it, but I'm in the middle of three books now (I usually only do two, one paper/one audio).

Angie (angie) Hi, everyone.

I'm Angie and I live in Fort Worth, TX. I love to read and I love reading challenges. I've participated in the Seasonal Reading Challenge group for the past three years, but I never do very well.

I'm really looking forward to participating in some challenges with you all. :)

My favorite romance novel is The Duchess by Jude Deveraux. My favorite non-romance novel is A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole.

message 184: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments Welcome Angie!
I have a soft spot for Jude Devereaux as she was my first intro into the world of Romance books. My favourites were A Knight in Shining Armor (Montgomery #16) by Jude Deveraux and Sweet Liar (Taggert Series, #3) by Jude Deveraux . Have you read those? I often think it would be interesting to go back and read them now and see if they still have the same pull.

Hope you enjoy your time here at the RLftC-I group, everyone I've met here is really friendly!

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments Hello all!
My name is Heather and live in dreary Ohio. I've read romance books since I was 13 years old and the genre has never relinquished its hold on me.
I prefer contemporary and suspenseful romance sub-genres, but I'm not exclusive.
My current favorites are Shades of Twilight by Linda Howard and The Flame and the Flower by Kathleen Woodiwiss (which was the 1st romance book I ever read at the ripe of age of 13).
I look forward to partaking in the challenges here and talking with you all.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Welcome, Elissa! I love a good pirate book. I haven't read Lady Pirate in years; however, I just read Across a Moonlit Sea which was excellent - heavy on the pirate fighting and strategy.
