Hi everyone. I'm Zee, and stumbled on this group while browsing the site. :)I'm from a small tropical island called Mauritius, located in the southern Indian Ocean, and I'm a total romance junkie.
Looking forward to chatting with you all.
Cheers & hugs!

Hi Zee! Thanks for joining. Mauritius sounds like a great setting for a romance novel. =)
Hi ladies!! Thanks for the warm welcome!Lol, yeah - Mauritius is a great setting for romance. Beautiful beaches, tropical sun, thriving lifestyle. It's also a melting pot of every culture under the sun.
In fact, a good many of my stories are set on my island.
Looking forward to interacting with you all!
XOXO
Hi everyone! I'm Kristi. I've actually been a member so juuuust abooooout a month, I think. I just didn't catch the introductions thread. Which you'll find is typical of me. I either don't read all the threads, I lose ones I've commented on, or I just get busy and can't find time to chat. I'll apologize up front for when I leave someone hanging on a response. I live in NC. Though I'm a military spouse, so I've lived in different locations. Sadly none were overseas, how boring.
Favorite book? I always hate that question, because I just can't answer it. There's no way for me to pick just one. Now if I had to pick one author...ugh! I'd hate to do it, but I would have to say Nora Roberts/JD Robb. She's the most...she tends to cover a lot of different areas within a romance arena.
Hi Kristi! Welcome! Thanks for posting! I have yet to really get into a Nora Roberts book, but I hope to read her Circle Trilogy sometime.

Hi Sandra J! Welcome!! I have been meaning to get to some of the Amanda Quick books that I have, I'm glad to hear that she's your favorite author!
Hi, I'm Zoe, and I'm also from the DC metro/Northern VA area - (Well, originally from New England, but my husbnad is in politics, so I'm stuck here). I've been an avid reader my whole life, but romance is my favorite - I also write (not professionally yet). Love and write contemporary, but read losts of historicals for true escape. Just read my first inspirational and can't wait to try romantic suspense (I'm always late to the party, what can I say?)
I love: Kristan Higgins, Robyn Carr, Jodi Thomas, Eloisa James, Julia Quinn....lots of favorites! Can't do too sexy, and really not into paranormal (or vampires or werewolves). Also love reading childrens, since I have 2 kids - Anne of Green Gables, Percy Jackson, etc., Mystery, religion and biographies. My TBR list is something like 1,000 titles, and it doesn't even have all the extra shakespeare and dickens I want on it. Oy!

Welcome Zoe! I wasn't a huge fan of suspense, but its growing on me slowly. Linda Howard was my firs RS author.
Hello, I'm Patrice, living in the midwest and proud to say I survived the blizzard of 2011! LOLParanormal, fantasy, UF, sci-fi futuristic romance are my favorites romance genres though I do like edgy contemporary and historical stuff, too.
My all time fav author is Tanith Lee, and the most current fav from her is:Metallic Lovewhich I still reread. Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion are favorites--Jane Austen is my favorite literary author Jane Austen.
Current fav authors are: Nalini Singh, Anne Bishop
E-book favorite authors are Brenna Lyons, Michelle Marquis and Lindsay Bayer's Siren Warrior seriesSiren Warrior Chronicles: Books 1, 2 & 3, Viola Grace
Morgan Hawkeand Belinda McBride.
I just recently started getting into the Sherrilyn Kenyon DH books. She may be added to my list soon. Wow!
Thanks!
Welcome Patrice! Glad you weathered the storm. My sister-in-law had a tee-shirt that read "I survived the Chicago blizzard of '79!" I read basically historical romance, but I dabble in paranormal romance and fantasy. I occassionally watch the Sci-Fi channel.
Metallic Love (2003) good to me and others in the group have marked it as TBR. Maybe I'll recommend that for our March read. Though, I must confess I don't know which came first, that or The Silver Metal Lover (1999)??
Hi LisaKay! Thanks for the welcome.I'll be looking for T-shirts around here. Ha!
The Silver Metal Lover was first but you could get away with reading the sequel w/out reading it. There was a lonnnnng hiatus between the books, and she does a fine job of using excerpts from the first novel.
What's your fav historicals?

Ohhhhh, wow! LOL. So much depends on my mood. Lately, I've noticed I have been more open to contemporary romance. But to answer your question:
Welcome Patrice!! I have been meaning to read The Silver Metal Lover, I'll have to bump it up on my TBR list!
Sherrilyn Kenyon is one of my fav authors! I'm glad you like her books so far!

Thanks for the welcome, Megan.
I think you would really like it alot. It's really good! And the sequel is even better.
Her YA series, Claidi, The Wolf Tower series is also very good, too.
Tanith Lee is very prolific and amazing. I can see how she influenced authors like Storm Constantineand others.

Are you reading anything right now?
And what are your favorites?
Lisa Kay wrote: "Ohhhhh, wow! LOL. So much depends on my mood. Lately, I've noticed I have been more open to contemporary romance. But to answer your question:

Patrice,I find with contemporary authors I usually like when the genre falls also into rom-suspense:
Cherry Adair & Suzanne Brockmann & Linda Howard leading the way.
Catherine Anderson has always been an auto-buy author for me, with some of her books on my ‘all-time favorites’ bookshelf. However, I haven’t felt ‘hooked’ by her last couple of books. Maybe I just OD’d on her or I felt she was pushing the Catholic religion more and more and having only the minimal sexual scene. I like books where the characters are faith inspired and I have always found the Catholic religion fascinating, but I don’t want it pushed at me. It seems her characters slip once, oops!, feel remorseful, and then commit to marriage right away. More than one couple felt guilty when caught by her/his parents. Huh? They are like, grown adults living independent lives? Anyway, now I’ve gone off on a tangent. Back to your question, and in no particular order:
Susan Donovan
Lori Foster
Jennifer Crusie
Susan Mallery
Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Lisa Kleypas
Shannon McKenna
Erin McCarthy
Jill Shalvis
Thinking of the Catholic religion made me remember William X. Kienzle and his series, which I loved, starting with
. The movie, staring Donnald Sutherland, was just on.

I have been meaning to read more of Tanith Lee. Years and years ago I read Black Unicorn by her (not knowing it was the first in a trilogy). So, I'd have to read it again and then the other two! I actually do have The Silver Metal Lover.... I just need to read it now! LOL!

Are you reading anything right now?
And what are your favorites?"
Right now I'm reading Song of Scarabaeus. It's a sci-fi romance, which a new genre for me. My fav's are historical and paranormal romance. It's so hard narrrowing down my favorite authors, but I know that Karen Marie Moning, and Richelle Mead, and Jennifer Ashley are on that list.
Regarding Tanith Lee, I have a copy of Vivia, which I've been meaning to read for a while now. I'd also like to read Silver Metal Lover soon too.
Hi Everyone,I'm CaroB from Australia. I am a complete addict when it comes to reading romances and am quite willing to give any of the sub-genres a try. I started as a teenager with Jude Devereaux and Julie Garwood, but my mother hated me reading romance (she saw it as trashy) and so it became a bit of a dirty secret of mine - the old bodice ripper covers didn't help :-)
Almost 20 years on and I still can't break the habit... nor do i want to :-)I've only been on Goodreads a few months, and have now stumbled on this group.
I'm really looking forward to being able to discuss books with others who enjoy the genre as much as I do!
Nice to meet you all!
Welcome Caroline. I agree that some of those bookcovers back then didn't help the reputation of romance books. I had a material bookcover that I would put on sometimes, but someone always peeked and then the comments would begin. But, someone is reading them because they are 55% of the paperback market. Glad you stumbled our way. :-)
