Daniel Beegan (PadreDan) | 10 comments I am a priest of the Catholic Charismatic Church and, like Tess Gerritsen, a resident of Maine, USA. I have had the pleaaure of meeting her and emailing her.

I love her novels and find her a fascinating person, someone I would have had as a physician were she still practicing. In the USA, Amazon.com has her latest, Ice Cold, available for preorder.

I also like Andrew Greeley, P.D. James and Jack Higgins, as well as Nevada Barr's Anna Pigeon novels.

Daniel, how do you like how Tess had one her character's (Maura) fall in love with a priest? :-)

I've read High Country, Hard Truth and Winter Study by Nevada Barr. I haven't read the other authors you mentioned but I've heard of them.

Shiela is another group member that's a big fan of Nevada Barr :-)

message 57: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Beegan (PadreDan) | 10 comments I'm not a Roman Catholic and don't believe in celibacy, although I do in chastity. But since one of my aunts, an agnostic/atheist much like Maura, had an affair with a priest, I could not criticise Dr. Tess. In fact Tess and I talked about it, especially since her fictional priest and I share the same first name, Daniel. Secretly, I was honoured, even though Tess did not know me when she picked the first name.

Nevada Barr has a new Anna novel out this spring that is set in Maine's Acadia National Park. I did not hear from her during her research, no offense, but I wonder if Tess did. They are mutual fans.

Nevada and Tess are friends?!!! Get Nevada on Goodreads! I've mentioned to Shiela that we should create a Nevada Barr group :-)

message 59: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Beegan (PadreDan) | 10 comments Actually, I goofed on the next Anna book, it will be in New Orleans and out in August But I'll see what I can do. I'll ask Molly Barr, Nevada's sister, who runs her web site and is a retired airline pilot.

Tess Gerritsen | 14 comments I just want to add -- I am a huge fan of Nevada Barr! One of my favorite books of all time is BLIND DESCENT. I'm not claustrophobic, but boy did that book make caves seem like scary places.

Emily (emahh1) | 28 comments I am a huge Tess Gerritsen fan and was so excited to see this on the FB page! Can't wait for Ice Cold to come out, but am worried about the TV series after what happened to the Women's Murder Club. I love these books, and would hate to see them trashed on TV. I will watch and hope that they do justice to the books, but TV is so different than books I wonder how it will work. Anyway, super excited to join this group!

comfort Hi everyone,

My name is Di and I live about 100k outside of Sydney Australia.

I belong to several groups on GR the most prolific (for me) is the Kindle Smut Klub.

BUT occasionally I need a break from all that smutty goodness and stumbled upon Tess' work whilst trolling for something "new" to read.

I was smitten immediately and have listened to all the Maura/Jane novels over the past 2 weeks (or so) and now listening to"The Bone Garden".

I DO read but find I have some kind of ODD thing and just sitting/reading is a guilty luxury, so audiobooks I can listen to almost all the time and keep working (as long as it is mindless stuff). I love to do the gardening whilst listening.

I am very excited about finding this group and am about to start reading through all the posts.

comfort Thanks Charlie.

Can you tell me when the new book is due out as I have seen several release dates for the Isles/Rizzoli #8

Welcome Di! The Bone Garden is one of my very favorites by Gerritsen and I also use audiobooks to help me get through books. I'm a slow reader so being able to listen to audiobooks is a great way to enjoy a story while I'm doing chores, walking the dog, commuting or whatever. The release Date for ICE COLD (book 8) is June 29th :-)

FYI: ICE COLD was originally scheduled to be released in July but the release date was moved up to be released before the TV series premier (July 12th). The new US release date is JUNE 29th. UK release date is June 24th.

Kelley (shewolf0316) Hey all! I just found this group. Someone in another group metioned this one so i had to find it to join! I love her books! All I've read to date are the Rizzoli and Isles books and a couple stand alone thrillers but I've loved every single one and have many more on my TBR mountain.

I got to meet Tess about a month ago when she was in town for a book signing with lisa gardner and my book club went to dinner with them. I was so excited to meet her I admit I gushed all over the place and acted like a total geeky fangirl. LOL

Hey new peoples! Thanks for joining :-) Sorry, I haven't been online much lately. I've recently changed my work situation and don't currently have internet access at home, but I'll be here whenever I get the chance. I'd like to re-read The Bone Garden sometime. btw, has anyone tried reading Tess's romantic suspense novels? If there was more suspense than romance, I might be willing to give some of them a try, let me know if you have any recommendations in that regard. :-) See ya around.

Hi Dustin, yea I've read a few of the romance novels and I would pass on them. They're not very romantic, but they're not very suspenseful either, from what I remember. Lets put it this way I read a few a few years ago and haven't gone back for another one.

Lindsay | 2 comments Hi, everyone! I'm Lindsay. I live in Michigan. I was introduced to the Rizzoli & Isles series a few months ago by my aunt. I don't usually read murder mysteries, especially dealing with women, b/c I'm a big CHICKEN. These, I loved. I have a toddler, so I'm not making it through the series as quickly as I'd like. I'll get there, though!

Do you think the romantic suspense books are worth reading? From what I've heard, they sound heavy on the romance and light on the suspense - I would be interested if it's the other way around :-)

Her early books aren't as heavy on the romance as others in the genre are, but I think her most recent books are heavier on the suspense. That said, even her Rizzoli/Isles series has relationship elements in it...I personally would give one of her early ones a try and if you like proceed with the rest or you can end there.

I should probably also say that I read some 'romance' books anyway so that could be part of the reason why I found them enjoyable.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 5 comments Tess Gerritsen is an amazing author, so I was pleased to run across this group for her fans. I was fortunate enough to hear Tess speak last year, and she is as fascinating in person as she is in the written word. Having my picture taken with her was quite a thrill. I think that there are two books I've yet to read of hers plus a short story collection. I've read all of the Rizzoli/Isles books and love them! I heard Tess speak right before Ice Cold came out and right before the TV series began. She was very excited about the TV series, and I enjoy it, too.

Which short story collection are you referring to? \ I don't think I've read any Gerritsen short stories. Have you read the "romantic thrillers" also - if so, would be interested if you can recommend any of them that are heavier on the thriller and lighter on the romance :-) I haven't tried any of them yet.

You know, I forgot about her romantic thrillers. I guess I have more of her writing left to read than I thought. I'll look up the title of the short stories, actually think there might be two short story books, and I'll get back to you.
