Whoop whoop! I'm so proud of Lu for finishing Wuthering!!!!!!

Marlin, Lu is scary like that, she's like the Phantom here

Heather Tribe (tribefox) Lu, how's The Blind Side? I've been wanting to read it.

message 409: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey Heather

What are currently reading?

Hi Heather, I know this question was for Lu, so forgive me for butting in. I recently read The Blind Side, If you are a true die-hard,football fan and love reading about the game and its history, then this book is well worth reading. HOWEVER, if you are reading the book to learn the story of Michael Oher, then you will be frustrated, turning the pages rapidly to get to those depicting his story. As for Michael's story - see the movie. It's more rewarding.

Books good, when you don't mind the football bits
I do find it very interesting and can say that I actually know how it works a bit now lol

But rather watch the movie.

On a side note:
I want to throw wuthering heights out the window!
If you know me you know all I need is a good story to like a book. I don't care about writing or this or that.

But hell give me a story and not hateful people that just do the same thing day in and day out.

Sigh 70 pages from finishing it. Might as well suffer through :(

/rant over

משה Ok, so I've just started Book #3 in the Night Huntress series... and am hoping that I'm not let down by the series (there aren't too many lose ends from #1 & #2) That said, I think this would make an awesome TV series.

At the rate that I'm working through these books, I should be done by the weekend with the remaining 2, are there any suggestions for the next book I should read...I'm looking for something light and less murderous :)

Sookie Stackhouse books?
Percy Jackson?

Those are the ones I can think of that are light :)

Good night!

message 416: by [deleted user] (new)

Lu, just grit your teeth and end the book...
I hated it (Wuthering Heights) just as much! I couldnt believe anyone would write something about people who are so horrible and hateful!!!! Makes you really dislike them, a lot!

message 417: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Reading Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding.

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Yea sigh will finish it slowly :(

I have now picked up Undead and Unwed, cause Lauren suggested it and said it would make me feel better :)

It is definitely helping!

message 419: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments I see Lu, that you are a glutton for punishment, I admire youre tenacity, as Im afraid if I dont like a book I give up, although there are some books that I just wanted to finish just to say that I have read them.I think its always a good idea to read something light after struggling with a book, so enjoy!

message 420: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello dear friends!
Ah Lu, no one will blame you if you left Wuthering heiths (somewhere in a dumpster perhaps :))

Lol, 70 pages to go. Maybe I'll read 10 a week. As i won't forget the story line, cause there hardly is one :)

message 422: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree. But you might like the end. I did, it was the best part of the whole book lol

Wuthering Heights is, hands down, the WORST book I've EVER read. (Don't keep your hopes up about that ending!! ;)

message 426: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey Nix, to me at least the ending gave a little hope.
But I agree with you, one of the worst books ever

message 427: by Nix (new)

Nix Niecole wrote: "Hey Nix, to me at least the ending gave a little hope.

Hi Niecole! It gave you hope? Hmm... My brain may have blocked out the details of this book after I read it (a self-preservation mechanism ;)

message 428: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha not hope hope, but hope that Bronte might not be such a bad person because something good happend in the end (Or kind of good) when the two most unlikely people got together. The whole books is so awful, I really dont know where she got her ideas from! Maybe she was crazy (Bronte) what do you think

I think that if Wuthering Heights is the favourite book of Bella (from Twilight), then we have a LOT to worry about re: this Twilight craze!

message 430: by [deleted user] (new)

Hahaha when I read that part in Eclipse I couldnt understand why she'd willingly read that book!
I've tried reading another one of her books but its just as crap.

message 431: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I think Meyer just threw that in there to make Bella sound like an intellectual.

message 432: by Nix (new)

Nix Lauren wrote: "I think Meyer just threw that in there to make Bella sound like an intellectual."

I wonder if Meyer ever read the book...

message 433: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Hehe. She has an English degree I think - maybe she had to read it for class? Although, of course that doesn't mean she read it either, she could have just skimmed the notes.

message 434: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
I must say Bella looses major points in liking that book!
But I don't read Twilight for her anyway :P

Hi Marlin, not sure what your tastes are in books, but if you like similar books to another member then why not check out their read list and see what they have given 4/5 stars on. I have some good recommendations on here, more recently Dennis Lehane Books which Lauren recommended to me. All depends on what you like. Can you give us an idea?

message 440: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I haven't had any issues either Anne. How are you going about it?

I've just started The End of Mr. Y by Scarlett Thomas for the third time. Determined to finish it this time...

message 441: by Anne (new)

Anne Lalor | 38 comments 1. When I click on update status nothing happens.
2. When I add a book it does not allow me to rate it or to indicated if it is the drop down menu to indicate status does not show.
3. All the stars indicating ratings have disappeared on the list of 'my books'
???

message 442: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith That's weird - perhaps you should contact the site admins for help?

I do know that when you add a book though there isn't a drop-down menu for the tags/shelves. You have to click on 'edit review' or click on the title to go to the book's page in order to select/add tags.

message 443: by [deleted user] (new)

Lauren Smith There's a general help page here: http://www.goodreads.com/help
But if that doesn't solve your problem, the contact us page is here: http://www.goodreads.com/about/contac...

For future reference, the links to these pages can be found in small grey text at the very bottom of the page (About Us, Help). Good luck!

message 449: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith There are so many books I want to read RIGHT NOW, it's driving me mad! Argh!!!

Sorry, just had to let that out.

message 450: by Emma (new)

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments Lauren I also seem to go through stages where I cant find anything to read and it drives me insane, and then all of a sudden I seem to have a spurt of finding the right books. I think its mainly due to what kind of Book I am in the mood for.

Its good to vent once in awhile lol
