Tonya | 179 comments I got a new Kindle for Christmas and read Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead on it. I also finished The Highlander's Touch by K. Moning last night. Yesterday I read A Touch of Dead (Southern Vampire Mystery Short Stories) by Charlaine Harris , and today I am going to read Kiss of the Highlander (Highlander, #4) by Karen Marie Moning .

I really liked Succubus Blues and can't wait to read the others in the series. I am reading the rest of the Highlander series so I can return books I borrowed from my friend (besides she keeps hounding me to read them so I will understand more of what happend in the Fever series...lol.

I just finished the 6th book of the Highlander series - The Immortal Highlander - and it definitely sets up the Fever series, which I read before ever starting the Highlander series. Fever can obviously be enjoyed without knowing the setup though.

message 4809: by Alycia (new)

Alycia I am so glad to know that some of the Highlander books set up the Fever series! I want to read both.

Tonya | 179 comments Heather wrote: "did you just say your reading the highlander series to understand better what's going on in the Fever series? I didn't know the two had anything to do with eachother? Should i read it? The Immortal Highlander (Highlander, #6) by Karen Marie Moning and Spell of the Highlander set up for the Fever series. It helps you understand more of what items are and how they came to be. Also certain characters, i.e. the MacKeltars. How they fit in and what they are.
Does this make any sense at all? I am not explaining very well but I think the Highlander series is worth reading, I have thoroughly enjoyed the first five. I am just starting The Dark Highlander.

Kelly | 144 comments Just finished Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost Loved it and can't wait to start book 2

message 4812: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 443 comments Just finished Covet (Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward and loved it! Besides the great storyline, it was so refreshing to read a Ward book that didn't mention sh*tkickers every other page (she only used it twice near the end of the story). My one surprise was hearing Trez use 'feel me' - I didn't recall his character doing that in the BDB books, but I could so easily be wrong!

Now reading Mostly Harmless (Hitchhiker's Guide, #5) by Douglas Adams

You're not the only one to think so, there's a thread around here somewhere where this is discussed.

She does some major world building in this series, so the first book is a pretty big info dump, but trust me, it will pick up and you'll be loving the series.

--Sorry for the late reply. The Dark-Hunter series is based on Greek mythology. Artemis has a group of warrior's who died and called out to her for vengeance. She took their souls and made them Dark-Hunters. They fight and kill daimons, who feed on the souls of humans. That's a basic description of the books. You should definitely check out SK's website for more info.

Once you "get it" with the gist of things in her Atlanta, the books will fly. Her characters are great, Kate is one of my fave heroines, she is the complete opposite of a Mary Sue, totally kick-ass without being "tough", she is very self-depreciating and Ilona & Gordon have such a great snarky sense of humor that totally comes through in the books.

Here's the thread I was talking about.

I'm glad to hear that! After the first book, I wasn't sure I'd jump back into this series anytime soon. But after reading some of the reviews here on GR, I decided I wanted to get back to it sooner than later. I love it when a series get better with every book.

message 4848: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah0620) | 3 comments I am reading Ashes of Midnight by Lara Adrian. This series was recommended to me because I loved the BDB so much, and so far these guys don't disappoint! If you loved the Black Dagger Brotherhood, you will definately love the Midnight Breed Series. Start with Kiss of Midnight, and work your way up!

message 4849: by Alycia (new)

Alycia Andrea, I have not read those series, but I would totally recommend Molly Harper's Nice Girl Series, Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series, J.R. Ward's Black Daggar Brotherhood series, MaryJanice Davidson's Queen Betsy Series... I am drawing a blank on more. I am currently up to date on those so I thought I would toss them out there. If you have already read these, then I apologize.
