Ah, The Wheel of Time series! Absolutely loved it - been a while since I read those books, so a full series re-read may be on the horizon

That also looks good. I am a shameless romance addict, but even I get tired of it in every UF book I pick up so it makes a refreshing change. Non horror slanted UF by a male author too, I'm interested in your thoughts when you finish it.

TBH it was a bit bland. The characters, the setting, and the romance. Maybe that set up just doesn't work for me? (only supe in an utterly real world). Big cats are beautiful, powerful, mesmerizing. The book was none of that. :(

message 37577: by Claudia (new)

Claudia Ayala (claudia_ayala) | 149 comments Lately I have been re-reading a lot. It´s funny that sometimes I feel more hooked up with my favorite -allready read series-, than with new ones.
So, I finished The Guild Hunter series, The Hidden Legacy series and currently I´m on book 6 of the Kate Daniels series (and waiting for Magic Triumphs (Kate Daniels, #10) by Ilona Andrews , the final book of the series.)

Also, in the last five months I loved Iron and Magic (The Iron Covenant, #1) by Ilona Andrews and enjoyed The Chosen (Elder Races, #9.7) by Thea Harrison , Born of Darkness (Hunter Legacy, #1) by Lara Adrian , The Thief (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #16) by J.R. Ward , Planet Dragos (Elder Races, #9.8) by Thea Harrison , Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia , Ocean Light (Psy-Changeling Trinity, #2; Psy-Changeling, #17) by Nalini Singh , Born in Fire (Fire and Ice Trilogy, #1) by K.F. Breene , Raised in Fire (Fire and Ice Trilogy, #2) by K.F. Breene , Fused in Fire (Fire and Ice Trilogy, #3) by K.F. Breene and Natural Mage (Magical Mayhem #2) by K.F. Breene .

I wasn't so impressed with A Court of Frost and Starlight (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #3.1) by Sarah J. Maas and Jewel of the Sea (The Kraken, #2) by Tiffany Roberts .

I read some light romance, too: In the Eye of the Storm by Samantha Chase (it was good), Catering to the CEO by Samantha Chase (not so good) and Infamous (Famous, #2) by Jenny Holiday , my firts M/M read. It was really nice.

More Meg and Simon books - yes, please!! I am totally with you, Sunseeker.

I am about halfway through Lake Silence, and am really enjoying it - I especially like the new character of Grimshaw. So far, I'd say it's not the mind-blowing awesomeness of Written in Red, Murder of Crows, etc - but then in my opinion, very few books are. But the second half of the book could maybe kick it up into that rare echelon, so we'll see! 😉

message 37582: by Brandy (new)

Brandy (bookloverbrandy) | 17 comments I LOVE The Others series! I'm so hoping Anne takes us back to Lakeside after the next book (it's going to take place in Bennett/Prairie Gold). Meg's story is not done yet.
Currently I'm finishing up a reread of Ascension (Facets of Feyrie, #2) by Zoe Parker , before book 3 releases.

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 398 comments Midnight (Dark Age Dawning, #2) by Ellen Connor was great and now on to the final book in this PA paranormal romance trilogy Daybreak (Dark Age Dawning, #3) by Ellen Connor

message 37584: by Nina (new)

Nina (msralways) | 528 comments I was re-reading some of Kristen Ashley's book and then I wanted something wickedly sexy to read, so I read The Anatomy of Jane (WJM, #1) by Amelia LeFay and The Anatomy of Us (WJM, #2) by Amelia LeFay which was pretty amazing. I absolutely recommend it.

Now I'm on to some action romance with Midnight Rescue (Killer Instincts, #1) by Elle Kennedy . I've been in luck reading Elle Kennedy's books, and this seems to be a good choice too.

I know...I had this in my hands for many weeks and then returned it to the library without reading it. I guess I'm more in love with the Others series to read on something that's not Simon and Meg...

message 37589: by CB (new)

CB (cb33) | 83 comments Ok, I just finished Lake Silence (The Others, #6) by Anne Bishop , and I'm rating this a solid 4 - so I definitely enjoyed the book, but not as good as The Others series, in my opinion. I think I need to let the book "settle" into my brain a bit, but I think I do know why this book didn't resonate with me as much as the other books - I did not really click with one of the two main characters, Vicki. Whereas I loved the other main character of Grimshaw, who I thought was awesome.

But I am currently continuing with Elle Kennedy's Killer Instincts series.

Jim | 121 comments Finished Simon Says Die (Deadly Games, #2) by Lena Diaz Simon Says Die it was a good story, but not as good as the first book in the series.
Read Staying in Vegas Staying in Vegas (Vegas Morellis, #1) by Sam Mariano which was ok, I liked the characters, but the story just didn't drag me in.
Now reading Spellbound (Legend, #1) by Claudy Conn Spellbound

message 37595: by Peyton (new)

Peyton | 9 comments I just finished Lord of the Fading Lands (Tairen Soul, #1) by C.L. Wilson Lord of the Fading Lands by C. L. Wilson and will be moving on to the next book in the series Lady of Light and Shadows (Tairen Soul, #2) by C.L. Wilson Lady of Light and Shadows immediately. It's not quite high fantasy, not quite a shifter story, and not quite romance, but an odd and perfect blend of the three. I admit, I haven't been as excited about a series since I read Karen Marie Moning's Fever Series.

message 37596: by Celestine (new)

Celestine I read these three books by J.L. Madore in pretty quick succession and enjoyed them a lot. Yummy immortal warriors, demons, human love interests and torture, lots of torture.

Crazy4more (lan-ni) | 3071 comments Finished Sterling (Mageri, #1) by Dannika Dark Twist (Mageri, #2) by Dannika Dark ...it's long but I'm not complaining. Layers of great writings.

Also finished Grounded (Up in the Air, #3) by R.K. Lilley -loved it. My friend recommended reading Tristan and Danika. I did. I loved Tristan's story more.

Reading With This Man (This Man, #4) by Jodi Ellen Malpas The Story of Arthur Truluv by Elizabeth Berg

Audiobook Suddenly You by Lisa Kleypas

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 398 comments Finished Too Many Cooks by Elizabeth Hunter which was a cute shortie for subscribing to the author newsletter, vampire trilogy At Death It Begins Complete Series ADIB boxset by Elle Jefferson which despite a few plot holes and some major grammatical issues throughout, was my best vamp experience so far this year and Damaged Rebel Next Door A Neighbor Rebel Romance by Melissa Devenport which was completely forgettable.

Currently on Dark Currents (Agent of Hel, #1) by Jacqueline Carey and liking it so far, just hoping desperately it doesn't turn into a more lighthearted version of the authors Kushiel’s Legacy series which does nothing for me whatsoever!
