Levi Jenkins (levi-jade) | 43 comments I has just this second finished Vampire Academy frostbite (2), It was the second in the series and in my opinion the bester of the two. I liked the first also, I just found that now into the story more exciting events were able to take shape! ... loooved the sending to this book! .. and have already gone ahead and ordered the next two in the series!

I am about to start Dark Gold (3rd book in the Dark Carpathian series) and am really excited .. I also have on hold dark lover - J.K.Ward and Blue bloods ... Lots to read ... but I have a problem when I have so many, I wiz through them, and then am felt bored waiting for my next delivery of books arrive! .. What am I going to do with myself? haa

It really is a good book so far. Very different from anything I've read recently. And thanks, that's nice of you!

Cindyg (brotherlover) | 98 comments I am almost done with Michelle M. Pillow's Tribes of the Vampire, Redeemer of Shadows (Book 1). It's been challenging but now that I am just about done, I am getting attached to the characters. Ready for Book 2, The Jaded Hunter.

This is just my personal opinion, but I read the highlander series out of order and I feel like I missed some big hints way in the beginning that even are being used in Moning's "Fever" series. So I would recommend reading them in order.

As far as The Nightwalkers series, I read them in order and you learn alot about the future characters before their story is told. The only one I would definetly recommend reading first is Jacob since those two characters make appearances in almost or all the future books. as far as the others I don't think you miss too much by changing the order..

Hope this helps.. :)

So, do you think that before I read the Fever series I should read the Highland series? I'm curious, I've already put off reading the Fever series because people have suggested that there is such a hug cliff hanger at the end that I might want to wait for the next to book to be released before I get there. I know some other authors do this, even if series aren't connected or books are stand alone, they throw in little things and it makes it that much better.

message 3608: by Susan (Suz) (new)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) | 253 comments Great question Tara!! I'm curious about this still too! I have heard that you don't HAVE to read the Highland series first and that only the last few books of that series really tie into the Fever series.... I figure I'm going to try the Highland series since I have it and if I can get into it I'll finish it before I start Fever, if I can't, i'm just going to jump into Fever!:)

Thanks CiCi. I always feel stupid asking the "do you have to read the series in order" question--b/c typically the word "series" should indicate the need to read in order. although there hasn't been a series so far you can read out of order without missing something, I still like to ask--especially if I am feeling particularly antsy about reading more in the series but find that I have to wait on it from the library. 8-))

Tara--i read the fever series first and I have just finished the first book in the Highlander series and I didn't feel as though I missed anything in the fever series. people who have completed both may recommend the highlander then fever...

Tara | 596 comments Thanks Cherra- they just seem to be so different. I honestly wasn't ever considering reading the Highland Series at all, and I am just trying to decide if I should change my mind.

On another note I just finished Thorn Queen and joined that discussion. Now I'm reading How Not To Make a Wish (As You Wish, Book 1) by Mindy Klasky which is my yellow book and a book about paranormal activities at a theater. And the main character is a stage manager, which I am. I think even if it is the worst book ever written I'd still like it for that reason (although I don't think it will be) After this I start the BDB series!

I actually wasnt planning to read the Highlander series either, but one of my GRF suggested it to me. I really liked the first book. According to my friend, there is a small group of male characters who are mentioned in the Fever series who are actually the main focus of the Highlander series.

Tonya | 179 comments I am currently reading Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress, #4) by Jeaniene Frost and just finished Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh which was pretty good.

message 3615: by Starling (new)

Starling There are series I read in order and series I don't generally think it is necessary. Most mystery series don't need to be read in order. The older ones have pretty static continuing characters. You can even read PD James out of order although I think she actually had an arc going during the last 4 or 5 books as she was closing things down.

There are other series where you won't understand what is going on if you don't read them in order. Almost all urban fantasy fits that.

Tonya, hope you enjoy the Night Huntress. I finished them last month and got a kick out of the series. I've got Singh on my list for this month. I'm looking forward to it! That is once I'm over the current BDB obsession!!!

message 3623: by Desiree (last edited Oct 12, 2009 10:58PM) (new)

Desiree I just finished Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning and overall, the series has been very enjoyable but I feel like it's missing something. The writing and world that Moning creates is very interesting and unique. However, I need some kind of romance and I think she could have atleast satisfied us with more. I only have hung on to see what will become of Barrons and Mac...but to be honest, as much as I enjoy a good buildup before something starts to stir between the love interests, I've never waited this long nor been this confused about their intentions. Barrons seems far too complex to bother with sometimes. Since I'm still on a waitlist at the library, we'll see when I start Dreamfever-if I do,I dont want to be disappointed :(

In the meantime, I just picked up Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh

message 3624: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) I just finished The Darkest Whisper (Lords of the Underworld, #4) by Gena Showalter today. It is my favorite of the series so far. I liked Sabin and Gwen and the plot going on throughout the books is fun.

I am just about to start Night Pleasures (Dark-Hunter, #2) by Sherrilyn Kenyon . According to my Goodreads shelf I have read Fantasy Lover, but do not remember it for the life of me. But I heard you do not need to actually read that one to understand this series, so I am not going to bother re-reading it.

message 3625: by The Flooze (new)

The Flooze (the_flooze) | 1593 comments Nita, that's true--Fantasy Lover is really just a fun prequel. You might remember it as you read, since Kyrian and Amanda end up at Julian's house not too far into the story.

I felt the same way with the Fever series. Barrons is more than a little frustrating, but Mac is too! I found myself wishing they would just get over themselves and do it already :-)). Keep reading...

FlibBityFLooB I'm reading book 4 in the Meredith Gentry series right now. A Stroke of Midnight (Meredith Gentry, #4)

I think Merry should work for a demolition team as she seems to be breaking down a lot of walls at the moment everytime she has sex *laugh*

Also, I don't know what the author's fascination is with long hair --- everyone has multi-colored muppet hair down to their ankles.

That said, I don't dislike the series. *grin*

Hey New User... you know I thought it was ok, I can't say I LOVED it, but it was interesting, a little slow I think, but I found myself wanting to get to the end to find out what happens. I would say it's not as good as her Darkness Chosen series, but she is taking a new direction and it's pretty good. I am looking forward to the next installment, but didn't feel like I HAD to jump right into it..... Clear as mud ;);)

I pretty much felt the same way, except I think I liked it less. LOL. There was a lot of talking around a table. I don't do well with Agatha Christie-style mystery. xD I'm hoping the second book has more action and focus on the couple.
