What are you reading right now?

I'm also reading

I am enjoying them all.

It's so hard to sit down and read before I fell asleep during this holiday seasons... Audibooks seemed to work for me while I shopped.
Merry Christmas and safe travels, friends!

He is a mothman with large wings, a fur ruff, antennae, claws, and a long tongue. She is a graduate student working on her PhD degree. She is working on a study about monster sexuality.
The mothman has watched his friends fall in love and he wants to find love.
He helps her find monsters to interview for her study.

She has a lot of difficulty reaching "the peak". He enjoys the challenge. They role play. Student and teacher, Victorian br@thel customer and her first client.
He also woos her. He watches romantic movies to try to get tips so she will fall in love with him.
There is one threes@me scene. Her, mothman, and a kraken. All 3 touch each other and have fun. He wanted to show her a good time and prove he wouldn't make her give up her independence if they were in a relationship.
There were some things I did not like. The heroine is a little insecure. And before she met the hero, she cheated on her fiance with her professor. I do not like cheaters. And now her former fiance is marrying her little sister. But overall I really liked the book.
It reads fine as a stand alone. The couples from book 1 and 2 are his friends and make appearances.

It's about two people who have trouble finding love... and every person they date ends up finding their true love right after their breakup. The two decide to meet and date in hopes of breaking the "curse".
So far I'm really enjoying it. It's not your typically romance where they both instantly fall in love. There is some past trauma, and current drama which is getting in the way of their relationship.
I'm about 2/3 the way through and, so far, would recommend this book.

Right now I’m reading Lord of Shadows, Dark Artifices #2. I started this series so long ago, but I was so irritated by the Emma/Julian plot line that I didn’t ever pick up the second book. I liked and/ or loved the rest of the series, but I hate when authors divide our MMC and FMC. It’s been so long, that I honestly couldn’t remember what I was annoyed about before, but it’s come back to me pretty quickly, and I’ve almost put it back down at least three times already. The world building is amazing, and the characters are endearing, but I find the storyline so irritating. Also, I don’t actually like going to Faerie. I’m only at 30%, and I’m not sure I’m going to make it…

I just picked up Lights Out!
I've been hearing good things, I hope I enjoy it just like you did!

I'm now in the midst of a series I thought I'd never read, let alone enjoy: Dungeon Crawler Carl. I'm starting book #6 tommorow, after my beautysleep (I ended up doing the whole "one more chapter" thing with #5 and now it's 3.26AM, lol.)
It is LitRPG, which I really dislike, but in many ways, it uses that as a construct. Most blogs put it under Fantasy/UF and that's indeed a better fit. The RPG construct is used because the characters are stuck in a cruel and deadly game, created by the aliens that wrecked earth and commited full scale genocide. A large % of the remaining survivors are now forced in a fake world, trying to survive.
It's actually post-apocalyptic fantasy with hints of sci-fi. It is both dark and utterly hilarious (sometimes a bit teenage humour, but the also existing biting sarcasm and satire helps negate and even overrule that plenty of times). Themes are loss, love, found family, friendships through adversity, government corruption, cruelty (including peer pressure and forced circumstances). The only trigger warning, despite all that, is violence & gore.
One of the reasons I ended up starting the series, is because there's 2 main characters, one of them a Persian cat!
The first book hangs between 3 and 3.5 stars, but that amount climbs higher with each book. Unlike other LitRPG this book/this series actually has a good storyline, a great overarching plot, well-developed characters that make you laugh, cry and hate. Simply said: it is well-written.
If you enjoy the sense of humour you'll automatically like them more, but that's the case with everything.
I won't suddenly start reading other LitRPG - that's still crap - but I actually might try another Matt Dinniman after I've finished these books.
Though a 2nd Seanan Mcguire series comes first ;).
For anyone interested in these Dungeon books, and (also) fond of audio: I've heard the audiobooks are a whole production and are considered amazing. Better than the written version. I can barely imagine that, as I'm not a fan of audiobooks (except for the Stephen Fry read Harry Potter ones), but I'm *very* curious now.
If anyone has them DRM free, and can therefore send copies legally, I'd love to check them out. I'm currently out of Book Budget: have spent all my book money on the aforementioned series, as well as the TBR after these, I.e. the InCryptid series, one of the other Jim Butcher series, the last 2 The Hollows books, a few historical romances, and Sandman Slim. I will need to start requesting ARC's to save up in the meantime. But that's okay. ARC's have led me to many a great author as well😀.
Happy reading/ listening everyone!

I'm also reading Enid Blyton Famous Five series. Just finished book 9.
Lucia Jordan: Delicate - the complete Series (not so sure about this one) not my cuppa tea.
and last is Inked Hearts books 1-3 by Crystal Kaswell

So far, I’m really enjoying the story. The characters are interesting, and the story is well written. I feel a bit lost on the fantasy/god side of the story (I like when fantasy novels start with some premise of the setting) but the story isn’t so complex that the lack of knowledge is a problem. Eager to see what happens next!

There is a group of 5 siren sisters. They hide from other supernaturals because their magic makes them so desirable that men try to m@ke them mate.
Each book is a siren woman finding love with a guy.
Book 1 vampire hero
Book 2 werewolf hero with a knot
Book 3 fae hero who uses vines that grow out of his body
Book 4 gargoyle hero
Book 5 dragon hero.
The books are very steamy. They talk about their issues and everyone acts like adults. The guys do nice things for their mates. (Build a fancy pool because sirens love to swim, learn to make her fancy coffee, etc.)
