I'll have to try this series ... pretty good, huh? I am on hold for any reading until next month ... My Nook bit the dust and I just don't have any more room for more books in my house ... I really want to read Magic Breaks (Kate Daniels, #7) by Ilona Andrews so, I may make an exception.

Good UF is hard to find. I read the first 2 but then I had enough. I liked the first one and the second one was OK but I was not interested enough to read more.

I don't really like Kate, but I like the world enough that I'm going to keep going. Plus I've read that this series gets way better later, and members of this group seem to agree.

Probably going to take a break from UF next and read Cryptonomicon

Shannon | 65 comments Read Tiger Magic (Shifters Unbound, #5) by Jennifer Ashley and then Afterburn (Afterburn & Aftershock, #1) by Sylvia Day and Aftershock (Afterburn & Aftershock, #2) by Sylvia Day . I was surprised how quickly I got through Tiger Magic. Then again the whole relationship went quickly. Afterburn and Aftershock were typical Day books. Great quick reads. Jax was as sexy as all get out and Gia never backed down. Would enjoy more books about her brothers.....

This series is nothing like her other series. It's beautifully written with exotic artistry.... Plenty of hot love scenes but no M/M nor hugely based on D/m...IMO...

Kushiel's Dart first. I loved this series but I fell in love all over again via audio book. It's French accented and sounded exotic too.

Hm, I'm finishing it and Burning dawn is so not the best of the three. She doesn't know what she wants, he doesn't know what he wants, lots of misunderstandings and not much going on in the world apart from his cloud. Poor Bjorn though, I hope his book is next and he gets rid of his "wife".

Maybe it's because I struggled with the first two books, especially Koldo's. I flew through Thane's story, couldn't put it down. Either way, great series :)

I've read a few books over the years where I felt exactly the same way. However, I always have the attitude, I bought it, I'm reading it (because I'm cheap like that) ;) ... and I have to say that most of the time I can glean some appreciation for the book and in some cases I was so darn glad that I kept going.

The first book in Kushiel's Legacy spends a great deal of time world building and explaining terms with which we are, wholly, unfamiliar. I, really, encourage you to continue the book; if at the end of it you aren't moving immediately to Kushiel's Chosen, then, give it up. I really don't think you will. One more note ... try to see past the eroticism of their world and see into the souls of the characters she has created; it might make a difference in how you perceive the story.
