You definitely should :) As far as I remember the first book was excellent!

Irene (irenemikhaylova) | 478 comments Finished reading White Witch, Black Curse (The Hollows, #7) by Kim Harrison - kinda not what I expected but awesome nonetheless. Started reading Pale Demon (The Hollows, #9) by Kim Harrison since I'm going to catch up with Kim's readalong :) This one very gripping!

Thanks. I am assuming the last book gives too much away. Is that why you recommend I don't read it yet?

message 32554: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 192 comments Reading Charred Heart (Heart of Fire, #1) by Lizzy Ford and not liking it too much. The h meets the H in the middle of chapter two and they're having crazy, against-the-wall sex before the start of chapter three! And did I mention she was sent to capture him?

I'll stick it out for another few chapters, but there needs to be a little less bangin' and a little more 'splaing for this book to make sense

I guess so, yeah. It's also because there might be something in that book that will change how your going to see or enjoy the movie. But it really is up to you. It's a great series :)

Just read this one Written in Red (The Others, #1) by Anne Bishop too and really liked it. I would argue that it is not PNR at all not even Urban Fantasy more like plain old Fantasy.

If you are irritated at this stage itself, I doubt you are going to like this book at all. H makes A LOT OF STUPID CHOICES, especially at the end of the book. Made me want to kick him and shake some sense into him.

I loved that book. It was probably one of my top five books from last year.

Interesting you called it Fantasy and Crazy4more called it PNR I thought of it as UF ...funny how we all picked up different elements...mark of an awesome book!

Uh oh... that doesn't sound promising! Ive been powering through and I'm on chap 8 or thereabouts. This is the first PNR book where I've enjoyed the scenes WITHOUT the H/h more than the scenes with them together.

My DNF threshold is way too high lol

I loved loved loved the books, you don't regret redding them...can't say the same with the movie, sorry. The screenplay, casting and acting were no where near Hunger Games caliber.

Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth is a great book and definitely worth reading before the movie. I thought the second and third books were not as good.

Thanks Crazy4more. I can see what you mean about the movie. It seems to placate to sensationalizing the film and not necessarily making it good...does that make sense ? lol Anyway thank you for your comment.

OMG!! It's kind of boring but I can't NOT finish this book :(

message 32590: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1127 comments I finished Alpha (Shifters, #6) by Rachel Vincent which was so very good, except for that ridiculous love triangle. Such a good book reduced to four stars because I just couldn't handle that annoyance.

I also read True of Blood (Witch Fairy, #1) by Bonnie Lamer which was actually pretty good for a freebie. Same basic plot as a lot of other YA stories, but a quick, easy read.

Now I'm going to start Naked Edge (I-Team, #4) by Pamela Clare . God I love these books, but I have to take a break between them because the cheese factor usually hits me at the end. So help me, if another woman quits her job so she can home birth her baby, I may scream. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with a woman doing that, but when every character in the series starts to do it, it gets to be a bit unbelievable and feels like the author is trying to send a message about her personal beliefs. But man do I love reading these books, despite that petty annoyance.
