(cheshire_red) OMG finally finished Ship of Magic (Liveship Traders, #1) by Robin Hobb only took forever. while i did enjoy it its not one of my fave's. it was rather slow paced, non of that flying by the edge of your pants feeling that i love.

Karen (chippyreader) | 116 comments I finished Jenny Pox (The Paranormals, #1) by J.L. Bryan and Bell Hollow The Ghost Hunters' Files by McCaulley Haas . They were both good but not earth shaking. Irene (irenemikhaylova) | 478 comments I've read A Hunger So Wild (Renegade Angels, #2) by Sylvia Day and I didn't care about it as much as previous books. Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick was OK but got better in the second half. Fate's Edge (The Edge, #3) by Ilona Andrews is my favorite book in the series so far. Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost was very good, I'm so looking forward to reading the rest of the books. First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson #1) by Darynda Jones was hilarious!

And right now I'm reading Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris and it's just OK so far. And listening to Born of Shadows (The League, #4) by Sherrilyn Kenyon .

Now I'm off to read The Gods of Guilt (Mickey Haller, #5) by Michael Connelly

message 32278: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 192 comments Reading the arc of Forged (The World of Nightwalkers, #4) by Jacquelyn Frank . I didn't realize it was the fourth in a series... for some reason I thought it was the first book. So its a little confusing! Anyone read the first three?

message 32279: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (aurorapixi) | 187 comments I hope everyone had a good Christmas. The New Year is just around the corner. I resolve to read more books. =) Since I last posted I have read A Clash of Kings (A Song of Ice and Fire, #2) by George R.R. Martin , A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire, #3) by George R.R. Martin , and stopped half way through A Feast for Crows (A Song of Ice and Fire, #4) by George R.R. Martin . I really loved the first book of the series but I like them less and less the more pages I read. So I had to take a break in the fourth one. Not sure when I will go back and try to read the series again. I also read Dead Ever After (Sookie Stackhouse, #13) by Charlaine Harris and probably feel the same way as everyone else, only for different reasons. I'm glad this series is 'over'. The last book I read was Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning and I felt it was abusive romance. I didn't care for that part of it. Now I am reading To Tame A Highland Warrior (Highlander #2) by Karen Marie Moning and I like it a lot better than the first one.

Loved both books and about to start on Blood Cross (Jane Yellowrock, #2) by Faith Hunter and Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2) by J.R. Ward .

Melissa-The Book Addict | 2 comments I'm almost done with Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews . It's a reread for me, but my plan for the year is to finish up or catch up on some series I have let slide which is going to require quite a bit of rereading.

message 32282: by Shuling (new)

Shuling I'd finished reading About a Dragon (Dragon Kin, #2) by G.A. Aiken . Given how much I love Dragon Actually (Dragon Kin, #1) by G.A. Aiken , I'm quite surprise to find myself not as enthusiastic as I'd expected myself to be. Its pace felt kinda slow for me.
Now reading The Bite That Binds (Deep In Your Veins, #2) by Suzanne Wright which is extremely entertaining and fun! I'm enjoying it.

I stopped at #20...it was a DNF for me...I could not get past the heroine's attitude, bravado, whining about her suffering and her patchwork body parts.....Then I read #21 but did not get any further....(I did skip #10 & #17) And I am tempted to continue with the series just to finish it.

Ditto on that Katya! I only finished these the other week and I liked the MacKeltars the most!

message 32289: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1127 comments Over the past week, I've been listening to Pleasure of a Dark Prince (Immortals After Dark, #9) by Kresley Cole which has been great. I must have been really busy with family, because it never takes me this long to finish an audiobook!

In print I've read Darkness Avenged (Guardians of Eternity, #10) by Alexandra Ivy and Midnight Enchantment (Dark Magick, #4) by Anya Bast . I don't know why I never think of the Dark Magick series by Anya Bast when folks are looking for recommendations, because it's only a four book series and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Now I'm in the middle of reading Walking In the Midst of Fire by Thomas E. Sniegoski and I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

message 32290: by ♥ Ashleigh ♥ (new)

♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) finished The Journey of the Marked by Rebecca P. McCray , was really good. i ended up rating it 4 stars.

i was feeling in a bit of a reading slump, i was looking at books kind of wanting to read them but not really feeling like it, anyways i finally decided to pick up Spirit Gate (Crossroads, #1) by Kate Elliott which has been sitting on my shelf for quiet a while now. hopefully it'll pick my spirits up a bit :)

message 32291: by Irene (new)

Irene (irenemikhaylova) | 478 comments Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris was kinda boring, I guess it didn't improve my ideas of the TV series. Born of Shadows (The League, #4) by Sherrilyn Kenyon was cute and sweet. Loved Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones

wow Vanessa u've gotten pretty far with the Game of Thrones series. sorry to hear they aren't as good as u continue with the series. i'm still reading the first book. i started the audio book but i find it's easier on me to actually read the printed version. too many foreign names. hehe

Jessica Thomas | 1 comments I just finished A Shade of Vampire. It was pretty darn good. The night of a 17-year-old's birthday she's out taking a walk on the beach when she's abducted by a vampire. Add in a mystery island full of vampires, a harem of ladies, and other elements that would spoil the book...so I won't. Anyone who like YA would enjoy this one.

I'm also getting ready to read Population Countdown. I'll let you know how that one pans out!

I wish I liked them all as much as I did the first one. It was probably the best book I've read in a few years. I don't blame you for still being on the first one. There is a lot going on in those books and a ton of characters. GRRM kills more characters than most books ever have.

yeah, and since i watch the series i know just what u mean. i was surprised as many characters died. keeps the story interesting though and sometimes it's refreshing when an author isn't afraid to kill of his characters. sometimes. hehe

message 32299: by Amac (new)

Amac | 39 comments I started Feehan's Carpathian books in 2013. I...just can't get into them. I did try: I read books 1-5, abandoned 6 and now abandoned 7, which is saying a lot because it's not very long. I'm kind of partial to werewolf/lycan/shifter romances and thought about skipping to those in the Dark series, but after looking into the panther race, they seem like they're probably not my thing either. I know her recent release is a (wolf?) shifter story, but I wonder if jumping to 20-something of a series will have me lost on what is going on *shrug*

I recently read and finished Scent of Salvation and liked the characters/world it introduced.
