I will definitely read it then! I have already started the Midnight Breed series and I liked it, but I didn't find it as entertaining as the BDB or the DH series. I'll keep reading it though, I'm on the third book of the series. :)

Just finished Shadowflame! I wrote a fairly lengthy review but in a nutshell it was a four star read for me although I had a few issues with the "relationship bomb" revealed in the middle. Don't know if I would have been as understanding as Miranda. But I loved the emotions it stirred up as a reader. Looking forward to reading Shadow's Fall, should get my copy in the mail next week ready for the buddy read.

Agree, and I too loved the emotional turmoil this storyline had pulled me into. I'd be so hurt and would take longer to heal...if I can get over it. He needed to feel the pain and the betrayal. That said, for someone who loved so passionately, David cannot not have loved over his long life. I don't know, I just felt the pain for all of their relationships.

Love to have you as reading buddies ... but it might be awhile before I get mine from the library. If you girls can't wait, please read. I'll catch up once I get mine.

message 22661: by DemetraP (new)

DemetraP | 379 comments @Shawn: I really like the New Species series. Book 1 is Fury and I thought it was very hot and the worldbuilding made sense. Book 2 was Slade and I thought it was just ok BUT the secondary character Valiant completely stole the show whenever he was in a scene. Book 3 was Valiant and it is my favorite New Species book of all time. Loved it.

I say give book 1 a try and if you don't like it, stop reading because each book is pretty similar.

message 22662: by DemetraP (new)

DemetraP | 379 comments @Crazyformore and Lisa: I loved Queen of Shadows but book 2 and the "relationship bomb" almost killed me. It ruined the series for me. I stopped reading and have no intention of reading book 3.

I just felt like the author was very misleading because book 1 had a completely different tone than book 2. I feel like the author did a bait-and-switch on her readers. But I still re-read book one.

Are you waiting for the library to get their copy, or are you on the wait list with people ahead of you? I'be been really lucky with my library getting new releases (at least hardbacks) in right away. And I'm obsessive enough to get on the wait list months in advance.

Is there a place to start a buddy read thread for Shadow's Fall (Shadow World, #3) by Dianne Sylvan ? I looked through the folders and wasn't sure where one might go.

EowynRN | 121 comments After seeing it mentioned a few times on here, I just read First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones ,and thank god because I was ready to throw in the PNR towel with all the crap I've been reading lately. I'm just about to go start Second Grave on the Left (Charley Davidson, #2) by Darynda Jones next.

Oh and I definitely agree with those who compared Reyes to Barrons. I'm thinking my dream threesome would be me, Reyes and Barrons as of right now. TMI? Possibly, but you get the point.

These books are a bit like the Anita Blake series, except less trashy and much better, however the author could lay off the one-liners. They make it feel like she's trying too hard, but overall great read.

So far, I've only read this one and A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole . I actually read A Hunger Like No Other first, because it's the first full-length novel and I'm not a big fan of novellas/short books. Several folks convinced me to give WWF a try. I thought it was fine, but I enjoyed A Hunger Like No Other much more. So I'd say give the next in the series a try, it's longer and has a bit more character development.

I read Fifty Shades & loved it, so I'm taking your word for it that Bared to You is good & added it to my "to-read" list. I'm really not into BDSM, but I'll try another one & see how it goes.

It don't think it's YA. The basic love triangle continues throughout the five-book series, but ultimately she figures out which man she loves and there is a 'happily ever after'.

Definitely not YA. I really liked this series although I would have picked a different guy in the end but that is just me. I liked both so I don't think she made a bad choice I just preferred one over the other.

I wouldn't in any way classify this book a BDSM. The hero is definitely ALPHA but not controlling. There is less BDSM than 50
