I love Lassiter, too. Butch is my favorite and I really liked Manny, too, although I wish he and Payne had gotten a little more page time in their book (or was that V's second book?).

*snicker* I liked it better than Twilight too, but yeah...I think the hype ruined the series for me. I thought Jace was okay, but only as long as it was from his POV. Otherwise he came off with no emotion and it was hard to connect. In his case, actions didn't speak louder than words...his words spoke volumes more. The protag (forgot her name) just plain frustrated me. Haha! (And you thought you were being harsh!) I'll be shutting up now. 0:)

Oh Lord, now you have me nervous about the next Dragon book. I just finished the forth and was going to get the next one. I liked forth but not as much as the other three. I will press on eventhough Annwyl and Gwenvael are causing problems but are we really surprised.

Hey Magda! I see that you're reading Maya Banks' Highlander series. I haven't read it, but just wondered how you think it compares to Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series? (If you've read it, of course.) Or if anyone else has an opinion, I'd like to hear it!! :) Thanks!

Magda | 558 comments I really liked the McCabe Trilogy but unfortunately, I've never read KMM's Highlander. Sorry.

message 16675: by Alisa (new)

Alisa (alisakayco) | 110 comments Lilabird, I've only read the first of the Maya Banks series. I have the other two on my Kindle, but they're unread. I like them and they are worth the read, but they are not on par with KMM's Highlander series (and I've read all of KMM's books). Maya's are still great reads, at least the first one since that's all I've read so far lol. I think KMM's Highlander series are better written and better reads... but different strokes for different folks and all that. KMM just happens to be a fantastic & fav. author of mine so I may be biased because I tend to favor her writing lol. I would definitely still recommend both series if you have a thing for Highlanders ... like I do lol. Karin Tabke has the Blood Sword Legacy series as well that I LOVE.

Thank you so much!! That helps a lot. I love KMM so much too (Fever series the most!), so it's nice to hear another fan's perspective. I may try out the Banks ones eventually. I do love the Highlander men!! I think I caught the Highlander fever when I read the Outlander series. :)
Thanks again!

I'm a huge fan of this series as well but the last few books have been disappointing. It makes me sad when a series I love so much starts to turn to one I dread picking up again. But I started the Darkest Surrender and so far it's great :)

Komal wrote: "But I started the Darkest Surrender and so far it's great :)"

Yay! I'm glad you're enjoying it! I got hung up in the middle, but powered through. It was okay in the end. :) I think I had trouble because I was never a huge Strider fan. (Can't wait for Paris' and William's books!)

Komal | 162 comments You and me might just be the only two people who are not huge Strider fans. Everyone I've talked to loves Strider...it's kinda weird how many fans the guy has.
I've been waiting for Paris' book with bated breathe. His story has been building for so long and I can't wait to see how it all plays out (and I love love love Sienna). And do you ever think about Cameo? I mean she's not mentioned much but I've been thinking that her and Zachrial would be really cute together :) Ahhh I can't wait :)

Yeah, I don't get the whole Strider thing. LOL But oh well. I'm soooo hoping Paris' book is worth the wait. I'm trying real hard to not build it up in my mind because I don't want to be let down, but it's a near impossible feat. And William's...forget it. It's already a masterpiece in my head. Haha! I'm thinking he'll be with Gilly, but can't be sure. Showalter keeps building up her young age, so it makes me curious as to where she'll go with it. And as far as Cameo...I want her with Torin. But Zacharel would be an interesting pairing. Hmm....

The Beautiful Demons series by Sarrah Cannon, Hush Money by Susan Bischoff, Amaretto Flame by Sammy Spencer and Anathema by Kathleen Tucker for starters - all great books. I liked the book. I just didn't LOVE the book like so many others did, and I think that colored my opinion of the first half of the book. Once I got over that it wasn't five star material for me, and just read it for what it was, I enjoyed it more. I will continue the series, as now I'm curious about the truth behind some of the characters and their motivations.

Love Mercy!! One of my favorite series. She does make her choice soon, and thank goodness because I hate long drawn out love triangles. But as Magda said, the romance really isn't the focus of the series.

Thanks friend! I knew someone just have to have read both series. I love KMM's Highlander series. It had the perfect combination of heartwrenching love story, rich plots and yummy characters. I'm just at the tip-of-iceberg when it comes to Maya Banks and I'm reaching for her Highlander series very soon. She can write hot-stuff alright but I haven't come across one with compelling plot & characters that would pull me away from reality. Can't wait for her to prove me wrong.

Thanks for Karin Tabke has the Blood Sword Legacy rec.
