Just go to the next one, Night Pleasures (Dark-Hunter, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon They are better. I felt the same way with Black Dagger Brotherhood. I didnt like the first one and waited months to read the next and was glad I did.

Reading Full Moon Rising (Riley Jenson Guardian, #1) by Keri Arthur . Really liking Riley and Quinn.

I personally liked FL. It was a fun read. DH actually had 1 bk I stopped. It was so disconnected from DH, it was the shortest book but I forgot the title. Anywho, the characters in FL will continue throughout the series, just a thought.

Crazy4more (lan-ni) | 3071 comments Still reading A Breath of Snow and Ashes (Outlander, #6) by Diana Gabaldon . Just picked these fun reads from the library, can't decide which to read first. So little time, love to get your vote. First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones Surrender (MacKinnon’s Rangers, #1) by Pamela Clare and lastly, Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews

message 11204: by Julie (new)

Julie | 188 comments Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews for sure. LOVE, love love that series!! You have to read the rest though it is just an awesome series. Books 3 and 4 are the best IMO :)

Sillylittlefishey | 1025 comments Lindsay wrote: "See and I think Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunter, #0.5 Prequel) is a poor indication of the series overall. I would almost recommend skipping Fantasy Lover, her writing grows up a lot and isn't quite so cutesy as the series goes on. Plus I don't think it's really essential to the series development at all. You really don't get a feel for what it's about and get to know/love some of the characters until book 3 or 4. like the 13th book or so I was finishing a book every two days!
"

I'll take your word for it and I will give it another go...eventually!! Are any of the characters in Fantasy Lover even in the other books??

Lori | 5 comments I finished a YA novel, A Spy in the House (an Agency book) yesterday - set in Victorian England and a fun read. Now reading Marcella Burnard's 'Enemy Within'; it is more sci-fi than fantasy, despite the look of the cover.

Running Hot is part of Jayne Ann Krentz/Amanda Quick/Jayne Castle's Arcane Society series. Dead To Me is the first book in the Simon Canderous series. The first is PNR. The second is UF.

Naked in Death (In Death #1) by J.D. Robb The Host (The Host, #1) by Stephenie Meyer

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Once you get past the first 100 or so pages of The Host it gets a lot better. That's one I almost quit out on and was glad I didn't.

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) Yeah, everyone thinks The Host at first is kinda confusing but when you get a little further it gets awesome :p

message 11225: by Susinok (new)

Susinok I put down When Darkness Comes by Alexandra Ivy (just wasn't feeling it) in favor of Unleash the Night. I had purchased it previously. I think I'll wait a while before getting more Sherrylin Kenyon books though.

I think she suffers from God syndrome. Her characters are so powerful it's difficult to get any real conflict going because someone (Acheron) can always wave a hand and make it all better and make you immortal. There's been an immortal population explosion... are their kids going to be immortal too? Pretty soon the earth will be filled with ex-Dark Hunters and their immortal offsping...

However, given all of that, her characterizations are really good, and the storylines draw you in despite the plot problems. So far.

When Darkness Comes (Guardians of Eternity, #1) by Alexandra Ivy Unleash the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Mrs.Vishous-Kattalakis-Belikov :::Para Itch Reviews::: (vanesmate) Just finished Passion Unleashed (Demonica, #3) by Larissa Ione ...OMG I loved Wraith!! My favorite Brother so far! Now I am reading Ecstasy Unveiled (Demonica, #4) by Larissa Ione ...Lore seems pretty interesting!

I know what you're talking about! Ash was the most powerful god in the first few books, but now there's a whole horde of super-powered gods just as powerful if not even more so. Just a little too much for me. I quit the series after Ash's book.

Joyce Mannarino (joyce82270) | 155 comments Finished Lucinda, Darkly (Demon Princess Chronicles, #1) by Sunny . Didn't really like it. Juana "Darkness" Duran I'll have to pick it up at the store.

Dreams of a Dark Warrior (Immortals After Dark, #11) by Kresley Cole

message 11240: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 27 comments I finished Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost which is a great book and have tried to start Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward but I can't seem to get into it..does it start to pick up because I have read a lot of good things about it. So in the mean time I will start Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning too.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Dark Lover is my least favorite of the series. It does pick up eventually, but I'd recommend skimming the parts with the lessers. The second and third books are better I think and the guys are hotter. :)

It's hard to compete with Night Huntress and Fever though because those are both excellent.

I am reading Christine Feehan's Fever which includes a short story from an anthology and the book originally released as Wild Rain. It's about Leopard-people instead of her Carpathians. Not sure how I like it though. Too many parallels with the Carpathians.
