message 406: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Passion is loaded with sex... and it's the best written sex I've read in a long time. As I said, I've read reviews where people complained about his size, and his obsession with her 'taking it all' but hey, she isn't complaining! Call me a perv, but I'm really enjoying this one.

message 407: by Anne OK (new)

Anne OK (anne-ok) | 99 comments Bekkah! You know what the USPS promises: Rain or shine, sleet or snow . . . they always deliver! Hope your mailman delivers the "goods" today!!!

Cyn Mistress Kitty (beachlover) For an excellent excerpt of Passion go to www.lisavaldez.com and read the excerpt there. It will give you an indication of SIZE and this is so sizzling your eyes will pop out of your head.
Hey, I read that some people (not our group of course) thought that Passion was too sexually explicit. They were so appalled that they sent LV hate mail. I'm like WHAT? If you don't like it, don't read it.

Cyn Mistress Kitty (beachlover) CRAP!! I'm not getting these updates again. What's going on?

I wasn't overly fond of the novel but I'd never send hate mail no matter how bad I think a book is. That's just plain wrong! And I agree DON'T read it if you don't like it :)
And it wasn't just the graphic sex that put me off it. It was the general story itself. It just didn't appeal to me. But that's ok because I have read some that ppl have hated and I think How could they hate it? but ppl have different tastes.

Cyn Mistress Kitty (beachlover) So true. That's what makes life interesting and not the same old thing boring.

message 412: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments That's exactly true, Cynthia and Pam. If you don't like something, don't read it! It bothers me when, lets say, someone who HATES vampire novels to begin with, reads one then rates it low because they didn't like it. That's not fair! If I'm venturing into a new genre and I don't like something, THEN I will write in my review WHY I rated it so low.

There is so much erotica written that I do not like but some I love. So I feel ok with rating accordingly. But, I'm not comfortable with menage or anal sex, so I'm not going to read a book knowing it's in there and then rate it poorly, that's not fair to the author. I also try not to let those things influence my overall review of a book, but I do mention it in my reviews so that other's who may not like that type of thing will know.

As for Passion , I would call it the best written erotica I've ever read, but that doesn't mean everyone else will like it, and I'm ok with that.

I've seen 5 star books that I couldn't believe had gotten such a high rating, and I've read 2 star books that I loved... it's all a matter of taste!

*Sigh* I'm so glad I have you all to share thoughts and ideas with! *hugs*

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments Ok, whatever the cause of the goodreads update blockage has apparently been fixed because I have just received about 25 email updates. Be patient with me while I catch up on everything that has happened...

First of all, 10 1/2 inches?!?!?!?!?! Holy crap, I'm going to find that book immediately, I shall not tarry but make haste to the nearest book store!

Second of all, I agree that if you don't like books with certain content then don't read it! I like extremely steamy books, but I don't care for anal stuff so I don't really want to read that. But if it only touches on that slightly I can skim over it, I won't rate it low because it had it.

message 414: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Cheryl, I'm getting updates for posts I've already replied to. LOLOL

This is steamy... sweltering... smoldering.... sizzling... and I've learned something about myself...

*looks over shoulder* *clears throat* *whispers* It would seem I like 'dangerous' sex... I've read 3 books, The Unsung Hero, Taming Her Irish Warrior, and Passion and all 3 had sexual encounters taking place in a place where there were lots of people around, where the h/h might be caught. I must say, Cheryl, I find those situations quite... arousing. *blushes*

message 415: by Anne OK (new)

Anne OK (anne-ok) | 99 comments I just want to say that I love this group's ability to converse with a non-judgmental open mind. Lately, I've been reading so many reviews where the same people give mean and hateful reviews when it is quite obvious they have never cared for the type book they are reviewing. If you don't like erotica, don't read it! If you don't like historical, read contemporary. If you don't like mysterty, read romance. Just don't keep making the same negative remarks over and over. Try something different - you MIGHT like it.

Sorry. I'll get off my soapbox now. It's been a bad week for reviews.

message 416: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments **hugs Anne** I know what you mean, I really do.

I do NOT judge anyone by WHAT they read, but for heaven's sake... don't bash things you knew you wouldn't like going in!

message 417: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments Anne- well said! *applauds*

Dhestiny- you seriously crack me up! I never laugh more than when I read your posts! There is something about sexual encounters occurring where they might be exposed at any moment. It makes it thrilling, hurried, gives one the feeling of adventure!

Cyn Mistress Kitty (beachlover) I agree also. I love this group. Everyone is so excepting of different points of view and I appreciate the well thought out and hilarious comments. This is fun and I have loved learning about books and authors that I probably wouldn't have even considered before.

ps. I also like "dangerous sex" I mean reading about it not that I have ever done it.

Cyn Mistress Kitty (beachlover) The only draw back to being in this group is that I'm buying more and more books because of all the great recommendations. I'm retired and I'm going to have to go back to work just to pay for all these books. LOL I guess everyone has their habits and this one is mine. Love it.

message 428: by Bekah, Fellow Kleypasaholic (new)

Bekah (bekah317) | 2750 comments I read the excerpt several times..... several. :-)

My problem with erotica is that it seems that there MUST be a LOT of sex, which is fine by me, but I also want that swoony love connection. LK writes great romance novels with just the right amount of heat for me. But...if I could get an LK novel with say the great encounter described in that excerpt...then well...yowza!

And yes, since joince goodreads, I've spent a TON of money on books. I've become almost addicted to it. I'm currently waiting on a dozen books to be delivered. I really need to stop buying. I'm afraid all these books I'm buying - most I won't love all that much. Then I'm stuck with books that maybe I don't need to be keeping. Ugh..the problems I have! :-)

However, I bought Smooth Talking Stranger today for $4.97!!

Not sure I can get past the name Passion but I will add it. Nothing like a good sex read!

message 433: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (last edited Mar 06, 2010 06:49PM) (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Kelly, she's named Passion because she was born on Passion Sunday and her father is a vicar.

Bekah, there's more sex in this one than I've ever read in any one book, but it's sooooo much more than that... it's a beautiful love story as well.

Rachael - there are more men with 10.5+ than you'd imagine. Unfortunately, they aren't always as lucky as the hero in this book.

The great thing about Passion is that the hero, even though he feels passion and lust, doesn't believe he can love anyone, nor does he believe true love exists. This is because of his mother and they way she treated him and his father. But as the story goes on, he starts to feel it... I love that kind of story.

It's a great read.

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments All right ladies, I need some help! I have read several pretty intense books lately and I am in need of something else! I would like something fun, easy to read, laugh-out-loud funny and of course romantic! Any suggestions? My mind and heart need a break from books with troubled heroes!

Cyn Mistress Kitty (beachlover) How about What Happens in London by Julia Quinn? Have you read that? Pretty funny and light. Or Love is Blind by Lynsay Sands.

I'll recommend Tonight or Never by Dara Joy. I named it my funniest read of last year, and it is very steamy and romantic too. I thought it was just an all-around fun, light read that still had the emotional development I crave.:-)

message 439: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments Cynthia- I read What Happens In London and that is exactly the kind of book I'm looking for! It was hilarious! I'll check into Love Is Blind- I've never read anything by Lynsay Sands.

Julie- Sounds perfect! I'll check into!

Thanks y'all!! :)

Hi Cheryl!
I recommend: Like No Other Lover by Julie Anne Long
It was a great book and so funny it had me laughing out loud several times!

message 441: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments Thanks Beth, I put a hold on it at my library!

message 442: by Anne OK (new)

Anne OK (anne-ok) | 99 comments Cheryl - do you only read historicals? If not, might I suggest two light, witty and laugh-out-loud contemps I just read. HelenKay Dimon's LEAVE ME BREATHLESS and Cathie Linz's MAD, BAD AND BLONDE. I had also been doing some pretty "heavy" reads and needed some sunshine and laughter. I definitely got it!

message 443: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments Anne- I will read books other than historicals, but I really, really prefer historicals. I used to read a lot of contemporary romance and romantic suspense until I was introduced to the historical-romance genre and fell in love with it! Now I don't have much of a desire to read other types of books unless it is a very good book that comes with lots of recommendations. I'll check into these that you listed! Thanks! :)

message 447: by [deleted user] (new)

heee cheryl im after the exact oposite .. ive been reading light reads and need something heavy and heartrenching ...

Cyn Mistress Kitty (beachlover) I just finished Love Lessons by Cheryl Holt. Love Lessons by Cheryl Holt
I only gave it 3*'s It was only OK for me. It dragged a bit and I didn't much like the heroine much. I thought she was a little too self absorbed and stupid for me. I did like the hero though and felt like he was very complex.
Good sex scenes.
