Mshj, I am struggling through this book, it is taking me forever to finish it. The pacing is SO slow. And I don't like the heroine. I think she is well written, but I can't stand her cold and callous behavior. I honestly don't know if I can finish this one.

Here is my GoodReads review. Not a synopsis, just my reaction.

Autumn, everyone who was watching along (I didn't -- don't have HBO), just raved about your wonderful work of art!

How was the Molly Harper book? I loved her Jane Jamison vampire series! And I'm drying to know about Chase's book. I haven't downloaded it yet

message 3866: by Megan (new)

Megan | 546 comments The first book, How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #1) by Molly Harper , was excellent, and The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf (Naked Werewolf, #2) by Molly Harper was good, but not as good as the first one. I haven't laughed (in a good way!) so much while reading in a long time. I still have to read the Jane Jamison series and am excited to start it. I really enjoyed her other series.

I just started Chasin' Eight (Rough Riders, #11) by Lorelei James this morning, and it is hot! as expected, lol. I love cowboys :)

message 3867: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (sadstrumpetjenny) Just finished Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption which was astounding. I am supposed to start A Game of Thrones but I think I need something lighter first, so just got Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake from the library.

I sympathise- I got there in the end but it didn't light my fire. It did improve towards the end though but I never really warmed to them despite understanding the complicated life she was leading. I have the second in the series ready to read...............it stars the baddy from this book!

I agree that her writing is good and I also like that she likes writing about difficult characters/plots. Unfortunately when you take risks like that they sometimes don't work.

I am glad I am not the only one who felt this way! It is a relief. I've put it aside for now, I may just pick it up again on a whim. I have book 2 as well, but don't anticipate starting it any time soon.

Lisa Kay how is the audio for Love in the Afternoon? I loved that story.

message 3875: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 4782 comments Katherine, the audio is really quite nice. Much better than the one of Tempt Me at Twilight (Hathaway Series #3) by Lisa Kleypas . I am enjoying it - love the story.

Thanks Lisa Kay. I haven't tried many audios but I wanted to try some and this seems like a good one to have.

Laura Landon (lauralandon) | 108 comments Mshj/Alicia - I'm a great Laura Kinsale fan, but For My Lady's Heart was the exception. One of the hardest reads I've ever struggled to finish.

I'm really glad I'm not the only one. I have not read all of Kinsale's books, but my favorite so far is definitely Seize the Fire

I must say the narrator of Love in the Afternoon by Lisa Kleypas , Rosalyn Landor, does the inflections for Beatrix and others in the Hathaway family to perfection. It makes the book come alive, making me enjoy the book more the second time around.

I have that one on kindle, I am waiting when I need an angsty book to read.

Laura, I just took a look at your books, I'm definitely interested in reading them! I love the premise of Shattered Dreams.

message 3889: by Laura (new)

Laura Landon (lauralandon) | 108 comments Thank you, Alycia! Shattered Dreams is still #1 on Amazon for Regency (although it's Victorian) and my 4th book - A MATTER OF CHOICE - was just released yesterday! I'm doing a happy dance here! Just .99 cents!!!

message 3890: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Bekah wrote: "I'm interested to know what you think of First Grave on the Right!!!! "

The book has a unique world but the humor sometimes was too much. The heroine spews wisecrack after wisecrack and at some point, you just want to scream after her...grow up!!!

I still thought it was fun and the love interest was super duper hot so I'm definitely looking forward to the next book.

Thanks! I've noticed that sort of bombarding of the wisecracks in a lot of the same types of books as that. It does start to grate on your nerves. Well placed cracks are so much funnier than an overdose!

message 3893: by Elaine (new)

Elaine | 78 comments Loved Shattered Dreams, and it looks like A Matter of Choice is going to be a keeper, too! Also loved the series by Catherine Bybee. Catherine writes about those hunky highlanders, and has some romance and time travel thrown in with some adventure.
