Elizabeth Hoyt usually writes great stuff, although her Legend of the Four Soldiers are not my personal favorites, I really liked the two you have (they're my two favorites in the series):-D
I also have The Hawk, but haven't read it yet:-D

I have so many series to reread, seeing as so many books just came out! I have to reread the Night Huntress, Feral Warriors, last two books in the BDB, Simply Irresistible, and the Demonica series, lol.. Lots of good books, but it's going to take me a while, lol!

I really loved Scoundrel, and Warrior! So fun, like Saturday morning matinee adventures, or something. Very Indiana Jones. I got the ebook bundle of all four for $9.99, so yay, me.

Autumn (sweetdenial) | 1625 comments finished The Italian Prince's Pregnant Bride by Sandra Marton it was beyond lame! starting A Kiss at Midnight (Happily Ever Afters, #1) by Eloisa James really hoping the reading gets better. also listening to Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen an amazing book thus far! i just cant get used to the audio format cus im falling asleep in between chapters LOL

message 3266: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 638 comments Jennifer - The Indiana Jones feel is one of the things I love about it, especially the fact that there actually is a storyline! Usually historical Indiana Jones-themed romances get on my nerves because they tend to get a little too fantastical, but add in the element of magic, like in the Blades of the Rose, and shazam! a great story is born:-D

I nearly finish reading Highlander Unbound by Julia London. Its quite good and the start of another series.

Highlander Unbound (Lockhart Family, #1) by Julia London

Melanie (melaina) | 638 comments Reread Coming Undone (Marine #4) by Susan Andersen last night, loved it just as much as the first time around:-) And starting Archangel's Consort (Guild Hunter, #3) by Nalini Singh that arrived in the mail this morning:-D Yay!

message 3269: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (sadstrumpetjenny) Read a kindle freebie last night - The Pursuit of Pleasure by Elizabeth Essex - it was pretty good, and worth every penny lol. Now I am trying to finish Passion A Novel of the Romantic Poets by Jude Morgan - it's really good, but looong, and the book is enormous so I can't commute with it. So on my Kindle I'll be taking a much needed break from historicals with Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost .

D.G. Don't remember the last time I posted here.:)

I finished Play of Passion which was really good and dnfed The Shack.

Now I'm reading Charmed, I'm Sure which I think I'll also dnf. I have a high tolerance for different type of heroes but I want them to have some balls and this one doesn't seem to have any.

I'm also listening to A Prisoner of Birth which is a modern version of The Count of Monte Cristo. Going really well!

Melanie (melaina) | 638 comments I just finished reading My Irresistible Earl (Inferno Club, #3) by Gaelen Foley by Gaelen Foley, and I loved it! I'm thrilled, because her last book, IMO, was way too Indiana-Jonesy (and not in a good way for a HR) so I was a little anxious about how this one would turn out (since I loved all her other books).. Fabulous **sigh**! A perfect "reunited couple" plot:-D

I thought the first was pretty good (4*), the second kind of bleh (3*), and the third great (5*):-) I loved GF's Ascension and Knight Miscellany series! I actually can't remember her Spice trilogy at all (except for the characters), so I definitely need to dig them out for a reread!

I got the first and second books from the library but I just couldn't get into them. I think I'll get the third from the library though especially as it's a 5* for you. I still regard the Knight Miscellany series as her best work. The Duke is one of my all time favourite books.

OMG! The Smythe-Smith girls are getting their own books? Now we'll know the truth behind those horrible musicales!!

I haven't felt like reading anything by Julia Quinn in a while...but I'll definitely read these ones.

And the cover is beautiful!

message 3290: by Christine (new)

Christine (cdunbar) | 424 comments Okay, I finished Just Like Heaven (Smythe-Smith Quartet #1) by Julia Quinn last night because I couldn't put it down. It was classic Julia Quinn, so of course I loved it. It was funny, witty and sort of like meeting up with an old friend. I felt like I've always known Honoria and Marcus and the entire Smythe-Smith family.

And now I must read the Bridgertons series again.

Melanie & Carol, I loved the Knight Miscellany series (well, not The Duke as much as the others); my favorite was Lord of Ice★★★★★. I really like The Pirate Prince and gave it ★★★★★ Also like Prince Charming ★★★★ - though I need to re-read it, as I've forgotten most of it. Guess I should batch a hole in there and read Princess: first!

MashJ | 733 comments I just find it really puzzling why you all love Ms G Foley because the woman CANNOT WRITE. OK- that's off my chest- I've just received this one The Iron Rose -a lovely package when I arrived home on Friday evening after a long week. I've got a few chores then some chilled reading time.

Lol Mshj.. I actually don't pay that much attention to the writing, unless it's really blatantly terrible (which GF's isn't, IMO).. I much prefer to immerse myself in the story and characters, both of which Ms. Foley is a master of (again, this is my opinion:-p): I love feeling linked to main characters, and I didn't find that her writing detracted from my enjoyment of the plot..

Otherwise, I also need to get back to Marsha Canham. I've only read Through a Dark Mist but I loved it and have some other stuff by her, so I'll have to get back to her:-D

That's the beauty of GoodReads, Mshj! We all get to express (and rant) Our Opinions. :-) Pretty neat.

I've never read anything by Marsha Canham. I like pretty much anything; I think I'm willing to try it once, at least. I am tempted to get Across a Moonlit Sea (Dante Pirates, #1) by Marsha Canham as I like a swashbuckling heroine from time to time. Or would you suggest a different series of hers?

message 3297: by D.G. (new)

D.G. That's a great place to start Lisa Kay. That book is one of the most exciting historical romances I've ever read. It's superb!

The book has several battles at sea and they are so exciting! I was at the edge of my seat!

Jennifer (sadstrumpetjenny) I just finished The Wind and the Sea by Marsha Canham and I've also read Swept Away by Marsha Canham - both are very cheap on Kindle. She is great. Never knew I liked the pirate romance, but apparently I am a convert!
