Lady Jayne *~*The Beach Bandida*~* (ladyjayne) | 400 comments I only saw part of season 1 of Robin Hood. He plays the bad guy Guy of Gisborne who is madly in love with Marian. I don't like his longer hair but he is still sexy as. *sighs*

*THUD*

His scowls work so well in this series, too. ^_^ He has the sexiest scowls. LOL

I preferred him to Robin Hood! Though the guy who played Robin grew on me, Richard Armitage just eclipsed him.

I LOVE Pride and Prejudice with Kiera Knightly. Mr. Darcy is a dream!

Assuming everyone has read The Scarlet Letter, and since we are onto movies. Has anyone seen the movie with Demi Moore? Very good, I saw it a few years ago.

message 207: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments Jayne-- thank you! I needed those pics! My heart is all fluttering! That first picture is when you could hear my audible gasp when we saw him without a cravat on! And the second picture-- that kiss! There are no words to describe it!

Richard Armitage played in North and Sout.

--Robin didn't exist on that show. All I saw was Guy. I thought Marian was daft. I would have reformed that bad boy!

message 215: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Heidi, I saw The Scarlet Letter. I love that book, so I wasn't too happy with some of the changes in the movie, but I thought Gary Oldman was a very good Arthur Chillingsworth.

message 216: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments I finished Tongue In Chic by Christina Dodd. I recommend it if you're looking for a light, but not too light, great contemporary romance.

message 217: by Anne (new)

Anne I just finished Sugar Daddy. Whoa! That was waaay different than anything I've read before by Kleypas. I'm not complaining, it was a good book. I was just surprised at how little 'romance' was actually in the story. I loved Liberty! She was so awesome with her little sister. I wanted to strangle her mother, though!

message 218: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Anne, I know what you mean. Same here!

message 219: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments I finished Sins of a Duke and it was fabulous! I definitely think it is a book that would be enjoyed more if you read the others in the series before it, but they are enjoyable too so it shouldn't be too much of a hardship!

I'm still reading Emma by Jane Austen. I have to have it finished by the 19th for my book club meeting.

I am thinking about starting Where Dreams Begin by Lisa Kleypas next!

Cyn Mistress Kitty (beachlover) I just finished Love is Blind by Lyndsay Sands. I loved this book. It definitely is not thought provoking or deep but a fun read. Totally different from the types of books I have been reading that feature a lot of conflicts and angst. LS books remind me somewhat of Julia Quinn as far as the humor goes. This was a great light read.

message 221: by Alycia (new)

Alycia | 1478 comments I know we were talking about movies a few days ago... I watched "North & South" again. You all were right, the kissing scene was amazing! Such sweet, tender, loving kisses.

message 222: by Anne (last edited Feb 18, 2010 05:34AM) (new)

Anne I just started Midnight Pleasures, by Eloisa James, this morning. It's already grabbed me and I'm only on page seven! I've got a good feeling about this one, ladies!

message 223: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Certifiable St. Vinnie's Ninny (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Ladies, you're making me want to pull out that DVD and watch the end of North and South. :)

I loved The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie - I had such a hard time writing the review for that one because I wanted to go into too much detail... I just adore Ian!

To add the book links, click on the 'add book/author' link above the reply box. Type in what you're looking for then click 'add' when it comes up :)

Cynthia...its asberger's that I was thinking he has....a form of autism.

message 235: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I don't recall anywhere in the book where they actually call it anything but 'madness.' I beleive it was reviewers who identified the illness as autism/asbergers.

message 236: by [deleted user] (new)

No, it hasn't come out and actually stated he has anything other than a "madness" but when I was reading last night I thought of asberger's or autism spectum disorder.

message 237: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Yeah, I agree, Heidi. That's how it struck me as well.

Cyn Mistress Kitty (beachlover) OK, here's the teacher in me.
Asbergers is when people make sounds or twitches that they can't control. Autism is when people don't like to be touched, looked at and they can't look people in the eye. Many times they won't speak and can become violent when things happen out of the normal routine. Often they are brilliant especially with numbers or math. They understand concrete thought processes but cannot deal with those things outside that realm.
It doesn't say anywhere in the book what is the matter with him but of course back then they wouldn't know other than calling it madness.

message 239: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Thank you, Cynthia! As we've been saying, they didn't have a name for it other than madness, and I had read reviewers state that today we "know" it to be asbergers, however having had a young man with autism in one of my homeschooling classes, when I read Ian's story, it reminded me of that boy, Gabriel. He was absolutely brilliant! An amazing young man who really was a blessing to know.

Anyway, with the reviewers who swear it was asbergers, I wondered if the author had made a comment somewhere regarding the 'madness.'

Cyn Mistress Kitty (beachlover) The Raven Prince is in my top 5 books of all time. I just love him. I don't think there is a book of EH that isn't a keeper.

Anne Loved Midnight Pleasures! I've just started Enchanting Pleasures, which is the next book in that series. I skipped the first book entirely on the recommendation of a friend.

message 249: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments I went to Borders over the weekend to pick up the next Jane Austen book I will be reading, while I was there I stumbled upon a book that has been recommended to me numerous times by certain friends on here, Danielle and Dhestiny, I finally own a copy of Lord of Scoundrels!!!! I have wanted to read this book for a very long time but could never find it! My library never had it, nor the libraries that share with mine and the used book store that I go to never had it either. So, I look forward to getting to it shortly!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Cheryl, I hope you enjoy LOS. My favorite book, hands down.

Anne, I read one of those, I can't remember which one. LOL.
