Mandy Glover | 576 comments Right now I'm reading Blood Trinity (Belador, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon . It's good, of course it's a Kenyon, but there's NO ROMANCE half way through the book. I gots to have some romance!!!

There's murmurings of attraction, but nothing yet. Crossing my fingers!! :)

D.G. I'll definitely let you guys know my opinion once I read it!

I'm enjoying it very much, it's very different from the other LK books I've read.

Lady Jayne *~*The Beach Bandida*~* (ladyjayne) | 400 comments I didn't get much chance to hang out in this group last year, and am hoping to spend more time this year! ^_^

I just read
Comanche Moon (Comanche, #1) by Catherine Anderson by Catherine Anderson - Which I LOVED! Great first read for 2011! I’m now reading Comanche Heart (Comanche, #2) by Catherine Anderson

The author spent 4 years researching Comanche Moon, and when she initially tried to get it published in the late ’80s, she was told by editor after editor that it broke too many rules of the genre and was rejected. She refused to change it, though, for the sake of getting it sold, and eventually succeeded in convincing a publisher to take a chance on it and it was first published in 1991. For many years it was out-of-print and booksellers were charging exorbitant prices for the book. It was re-released in 2008, and I am thankful that it has been and I’ve only just discovered it now. ^_^

I loved that the author stuck to her guns (excuse the pun ^_^) and didn't rewrite this into an "aching loins", "bodice ripper" romance of the '80s and '90s, where the hate slips away so easily in a frenzy of lust. I can see how it "broke the rules of the genre" of that time. I loved that the romance felt like a genuine tentative progression and that it was strongly based on a friendship and what grew to be mutual admiration. I was just so amazed with Hunter's (the hero’s) patience and gentleness and truly admired his character. Love him!

Comanche Moon has now made it to my keepers shelf. Please do read the Letter to Readers the author wrote for the 2008 reprint, which I have reproduced in my review (see the second letter), that made me even more excited to read this book:

If you've only read Wallflowers and Hathaways, the Gamblers of Craven is indeed quite different, as is Bow Street Runners. I love all these series!

I can imagine Mshj!

The problem I have with Historical Romances set in America is that most of them are in the West and the living conditions were just horrendous...that never puts me in a romantic mood! :p

Glad I'm not the only one Katherine. I'm just surprised that EJ wrote this heroine. Total head-scratcher.
