Mary Balogh goes on that list for me. The writing wasn't bad, it was just "ehhhh", take it or leave it. I'm kind of that way with Elizabeth Hoyt. Maybe. I read the first book of the Princes trilogy and may go back and read the rest . . .
Mandy wrote: "I'm kind of that way with Elizabeth Hoyt. Maybe. I read the first book of the Princes trilogy and may go back and read the rest . . . "You should go back and finish that trilogy.. I thought that the writing got better with the 2nd and 3rd book, with the 3rd book being my favorite in the trilogy!

I may just do that. I really enjoyed the Four Soldier series.

That's good to hear! I have that series sitting on my shelf waiting to be read!
Mandy,
had a great, tortured hero, and strong heroine and some interesting secondary characters, but it was too silly. The banter became... predictable and immature... I spent too much time rolling my eyes. And as I got about 1/2 way into the book, I realized that I had read this one years ago and didn't like it then either, for the same reasons.
UniquelyMoi *~*Dhestiny*~* wrote: "Mandy,

I agree. I LOVE her Dark Hunters! Someone said there's another series that she writes as MacGregor, but I can't remember which it i s.

I really liked this book - the hero and heroine made it for me and I don't remember anything particularly silly about the plot (although there may have been.) Too bad I didn't write a review!
It wasn't a bad plot either... it was just to the point where the banter was too much and too silly. It had the potential to be a great story, but the dialog and some other things just really didn't do it for me.
UniquelyMoi *~*Dhestiny*~* wrote: "I agree. I LOVE her Dark Hunters! Someone said there's another series that she writes as MacGregor, but I can't remember which it i s."She writes Brotherhood of the Sword(GR has it listed as Brotherhood/MacAllister) and Sea Wolves.

I am reading
. Just finihsed
, the 6th and final book in Patricia Rice's "Magic" series. Somehow I missed the first 2 and started off at 3. I'm going back to reread these but not because Imissed anything. Each book picks up well enough to carry itself. I just "have" to read the entire series. If none of you have read this series, I strongly encourage you to do so. It's a great wrap of paranormal, hot sexiness, and well-rounded, relatable characters.

Mandy I preferred the four soldiers over the princes of Hoyt books..

I read
yesterday, my favorite being The Windflower, which I've been putting off for a looong time because I was worried it would be a traditional bodice ripper... boy was I wrong!! Does anyone know if L.London ever got around to Cat's story? Enslave was my least favorite (too flat, 2*), and The Marriage Bed was a surprise because I wasn't sure I would like it, seeing as I usually hate unhappy marriage plots (gave it 3*).. The other three were between 4 and 5*:-)
I finished Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor...in just shy of 4 hours...love this book too much, I sooo didn;t wnat it to end. My only complaint wa sit was too short, bot so damn good...How does she do it every time?

..I liked Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor too, but it was mainly a sweet story.. Not much angst, and not long enough:-) Otherwise, it was great:-)

:-)
I agree with most of the comments on
...it was such a sweet story and short enough I wished it was longer (but in a good way!). I was honestly apprehensive about her concentrating on new contemporaries for awhile because I love her historicals so much, but I feel she's off to a good start on this series.
I want to know, too. I'm starting to get twitchy, knowing I won't be able to buy books in 2011, so I'm looking for things to buy NOW.
I'm thinking of signing up for the first two months... no buying...but then since March is my bday month, I'll lift the ban, and then maybe add some more...so..I'm binging too!
Cheryl wrote: "Heh. heh. heh.... Dhes is going to binge on book-buying until January. :)"I know! My daughter actually smacked my hand today when I went for a book at B&N! LOL

well, she like me, has a lot of books in her tbr pile. Mine is almost 300 strong...it's really stupid for me to keep buying when I'm not making a dent in that mountain.

LOL!!! Good for your daughter! I'll help you stay strong come time for your book-buying ban!
Melanie - I'm at 200+, close to 300 books I own, have here at home, sitting on my shelves collecting dust, waiting to be read. And that does NOT count the books I've already read.I have to do something! Seriously. I went to B&N today because I had a coupon... and I have to go to Borders before Tuesday because I have $10 to spend. And I got 2 books in the mail today from thriftbooks.com because I just had to have them. And I'm waiting for one more to get here because I just had to have it.
See the pattern?
Cheryl wrote: "LOL!!! Good for your daughter! I'll help you stay strong come time for your book-buying ban! ."Yeah, yeah. And same daughter bought a hardcover because she just had to have it!
